NASHVILLE Womens Austin Johnson Jersey , Tenn. (AP) — Mike Vrabel can’t remember a game where he didn’t have butterflies in his stomach before kickoff. As a linebacker over 14 seasons, he could get rid of them with a crunching tackle. He won’t have that luxury Sunday in Miami making his NFL regular season head coaching debut with the Tennessee Titans.“I don’t think I’ll need any hits from the team,” Vrabel said Thursday. “We all just stay composed and do our jobs. That’s the most important thing.”Not much is expected from the Titans this season with the coaching change despite Tennessee winning its first playoff game in 14 years with back-to-back 9-7 seasons . Vrabel has three Super Bowl rings as a linebacker with New England , and the coach who frequently picks up a blocking pad and works with the Titans in practices has made it very clear what he wants.Three-time Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker said Vrabel doesn’t care what people say outside of the locker room or about Tennessee’s winless preseason. Vrabel’s focus has been preparing the Titans for the regular season, and Walker said the coach has been tough on them.“He’s the type of guy he challenges you every day with questions asking you, ‘What’s the defensive players’ names? What’s their numbers?’ And I think that’s just to see how we’ve been preparing,” Walker said. “I’m excited to see how he is when we get down there in Miami and get the game started.”Defensive lineman Jurrell Casey, another defensive lineman, thinks Vrabel’s attitude of pushing everyone will help the Titans achieve more. Casey sees Vrabel creating a mindset that everyone has to bring more. Even on the practice field, the Titans are expected to jog between drills with Vrabel usually leading the way.“That’s what I love about him,” Casey said. “He’s expecting a lot from everybody. The stars, he’s expecting more, and the young guy he’s expecting you to rise up and become stars.”The Titans currently have a five-game winning streak in their first road game of the season, which started in 2013 with Mike Munchak.Ken Whisenhunt and Mike Mularkey kept that streak alive, wins that didn’t deliver nearly enough to keep either man around very long. Now it’s Vrabel’s turn with the Titans gambling that the man long pegged as the next surefire success as an NFL head coach succeeds in Tennessee. Defensive coordinator Dean Pees, who came out of a short retirement to come to Tennessee, says Vrabel has been a professional as a player, assistant and coordinator. He expects nothing less now Vrabel is a head coach.Nerves are part of the job even for experienced coaches like himself, according to Pees who’s going into his 46th NFL season.“If you haven’t got a little something churning in your stomach, I think it’s probably something wrong with you Derrick Henry Jersey ,” Pees said. “You’re not very competitive. So it’s going to be exciting for him, and I’m excited to watch him too.”A handful of Titans made clear that whatever happens on the field falls on their shoulders.Walker said Vrabel and the assistants he brought in have been great, but they can only put the Titans in position to execute. Veteran linebacker Wesley Woodyard said the players can help minimize any growing pains by winning on game day for a man who played for a great coach in New England’s Bill Belichick.“It seems like he’s a little bit more experienced than a first-time head coach,” Woodyard said.NOTES: Rookie LB Harold Landry (ankle) did not practice Thursday after being limited Wednesday. S Kendrick Lewis (foot) missed a second straight practice. RT Jack Conklin (left knee) and LB Rashaan Evans (hamstring) were limited. You actually played some receiver again in 2018 due to some injuries at the position. Was it tough to jump back and forth like that?JL: I didn’t find it difficult at all. I played both positions in high school at the same time. I was used to being a two way player. Honestly people try to make it more complicated than it actually is. It’s something I’ve been doing my whole life. I didn’t find it difficult at all. I was happy to help the team out however they needed me too.JM: What was the hardest part about it?JL: I would probably point to learning everything backwards. You’re backpeddling now. As a receiver, you’re obviously going forward. That’s what you’re doing when you play receiver. You’re not worrying about backpeddling. That’s really the biggest difference. You’re learning things backwards now (laughs).JM: How does your experience playing receiver make you a better cornerback?JL: It taught me a lot about anticipation. I have a great feel for what a receiver is gonna do before he actually does it. It allows me to be instinctive. I have a great feel for the routes before they develop. I usually know which way a guy is gonna run before he even starts heading in that direction. I credit that to my background as a receiver.JM: How do you cover a smaller, speedier receiver differently than you may a bigger, more physical receiver?JL: You have to be more patient with a speedy guy. It takes a lot of patience at the line of scrimmage. With the bigger guys, I try to jam them up. You have to be physical with them at the line and you can’t let them get their hands on you. I definitely have to be patient with the speedy guy though. I probably won’t press him as much. I’ll probably just try to cut him off or something. Patience is the key with those shifty guys.JM: Is there one area or category that you’d like to see your game improve in next season?JL: I wanna be a better all around player next season. There’s always room for improvement. I would like to finish next season with more interceptions than I did a year ago. I had 15 pass break-ups and one interception last season. I’d like to convert some of those pass break-ups into more takeaways. Takeaways are so valuable at the next level. There’s always something you can work on. You can never be satisfied with your game. It’s never a finished product. I can improve all over the field.JM: When you look back on your collegiate career 10 years from now, what do you think being a Spartan will have meant to you?JL: We’re a brotherhood. I’ll never forget my time there and the relationships that were created. Being a Spartan means you’re a warrior. That’s exactly what we were. A whole bunch of warrios bound together by one common goal. We always put the team before the individual. We don’t have individual goals. Being a Spartan means earning everything. We didn’t have anything handed to us. We’re used to going out and earning it. I always went out there and respected the tradition and the logo.JM: I don’t know if you watch much TV but if you, what was the last Netflix series you binge watched?JL: Ohhh that’s a good question. I’d probably have to go with How to Get Away with Murder. I love that show. I binge watched that one for sure. I’m watching The Umbrella Academy right now. That show is wild. It’s really good. I highly recommend it. I’m enjoying that right now.JM: In closing, why should a team invest one of their draft picks into Justin Layne?JL: You’re getting a lockdown corner when you draft me. I’m an athletic guy that can really thrive at the next level. You’re getting a cornerback that’s coming to work every day with the mentality that I’m going to get better.

Report: Eric Reid Amani Hooker Jersey , Lardarius Webb and Mike Mitchell to visit the Titans It was announced earlier today that Johnathan Cyprien is out for the year because of a torn ACL. There is no doubt that is a blow to a secondary that probably has the best chemistry of any group on the Titans. It is also a blow because the Titans are thinner at safety that just about any other position on the roster.Mike Vrabel said earlier today that the Titans had Eric Reid in for a workout and they are keeping an eye on him. It was also reported that Kenny Vaccaro will be in Nashville Friday for a visit. Now we have Ian Rapoport reporting that Mike Mitchell and Lardarius Webb will come in for visits:Mitchell was a second-round pick by the Raiders back in 2009. He has bounced around a little bit and was most recently with the Steelers last year.Webb was a third-round pick by the Ravens in 2009 as well. He obviously is very familiar with the system considering he has played for Dean Peas for the last 6 years.I don’t think it is completely out of the realm of possibilities that the Titans could sign 2 of these guys.[UPDATE]- Schefty says Reid is coming in for a visit on Friday as well: A 37-year-old pass rusher probably shouldn’t be making nearly $8 million per year. But not every 37-year-old is Cameron Wake.Wake, who parlayed a stint in the CFL into a highly successful NFL career, has ended his long-time affiliation with the Dolphins, signing as a free agent with the Titans. Here’s a look at his new deal:1. Signing bonus: $4 million.2. 2019 base salary: $3.25 million, fully guaranteed.3. 2020 roster bonus: $1 million, due the fifth day of the 2020 league year.4. 2020 base salary: $5.5 million Amani Hooker Tennessee Titans Jersey , $2.5 million of which is guaranteed for injury at signing and becomes fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2020 league year.5. 2021 base salary: $7 million.6. 2019-2021 per-game roster bonuses: $46,875 per game ($750,000 per year maximum). That’s $7.25 million fully guaranteed, with a total guarantee of $9.75 million. Wake spent 10 years in Miami, with 98 career sacks.

There are tons of questions currently surrounding the Tampa bay Buccaneers and in the coming weeks and months, many of those questions will be answered. General manager Jason Licht will be a busy man this off season. Not only does he have to find a new head coach, but he also has to reconstruct the roster and at the same time, focus on some of the best prospects in college. But hey, that’s why they get paid the big bucks. Back to that roster point. When Licht spoke to the media on Monday afternoon, he had this to say when asked whether or not their needs to be drastic changes in the teams personnel for the 2019 season. “You tweak your roster every year. We have a lot of young talent, like I said. We have a lot of guys that we really like. More so this year than in previous years. Still have a lot of work to do, but we have a lot of flexibility in our contracts, in our salary cap, in the way we do things – that we can add more players. The answer isn’t always adding the splashy superstar. To find some good players, we’ll have flexibly to do that.”One part of that quote was really telling when I read it and it’s the part in which he talks about the teams salary cap and the flexibility they have this off season when it comes to managing contracts. Currently, as things stand right now, the Buccaneers are projected to have about $30 million dollars in cap space, after the NFL increases the cap, as it does every year. Without that increase, Tampa Bay would have $17 million. After two consecutive 5-11 seasons, the Buccaneers will look to shake things up a bit and here are some of the guys that Licht was referring too when he said the team has flexibility. The following players can be cut and will leave behind no dead cap. After I give the list Womens Brent Grimes Jersey , I will give the players I would move on from. Jason Pierre Paul ($14.5 million), Gerald McCoy ($13 million), DeSean Jackson ($10 million), Lavonte David ($9.75 million), Vinny Curry ($8 million), Cameron Brate ($7 million), Demar Dotson ($4.725 million), Mitch Unrein and William Gholston ($3.75 million each), Bryan Anger ($3 million) and Evan Smith ($2 million). That is a total of 11 players the Buccaneers could realistically move on from when the new league year begins. Obviously, not all players will be released, but here are some of the moves I would make to increase that cap room for the new regime. 1. Cut/trade Gerald McCoy. Best case scenario is you get a third round pick for him, but either way, the production and salary cap number doesn’t match up anymore and this team can use that $13 million on many different positions. 2. Cut/trade DeSean Jackson. Again, maybe you can get a mid round pick for him, but that’s unlikely. Both sides want to move on and it’s only a matter of time. Add another $10 million to the bank roll. 3. Cut Gholston and Unrein. Both can’t stay, but one could make it on the roster next season for depth purposes. Heck, no one has seen Unrein since July because of a concussion and Gholston didn’t really make much of an impact either for the second year in a row. With a loaded D line class, I think the Buccaneers can draft at least one of these guys replacements. Cut Unrein and Gholston. Add $7.25 million.4. Cut Cameron Brate. This move may come as a surprise to many, but Brate is expandable to me, especially when the new coaching staff realizes O.J. Howard shouldn’t come off the field. The Buccaneers have talent at the tight end position and frankly $7 million is too expensive for a number two tight end. Use this money to shore up depth along the offensive line.5. Cut Bryan Anger. He has declined over the last three seasons and the Buccaneers will save $3 million. This is a no brainer. Those six moves would bring the Buccaneers to about $70.25 million dollars in cap space. This allows them to address many different areas and with a top five pick, this adds to why the Buccaneers job is an attractive one to many coaches.

One of the rule changes would change an onside kick to a 4th and 15. According to reports, New York Giants owner John Mara said he was the only member of the committee opposed to the proposal. The new rule would give teams the option to not kick off after scoring in the fourth quarter. They are then put into a 4th and 15 situation on their own 35-yard line. If the team converts, they keep the ball. According to Mara, the competition committee likes the idea. When asked about the rule, Mara told reporters, “What are we, the Arena Football League?” Kickoffs themselves may move to this model as time goes on. What would be different from a kickoff and this 4th and 15 would be something to watch. What are your thoughts on this rule change? Do you think it makes the game more exciting in the fourth quarter or do you think it it’s an unnecessary change that may ruin the experience in the final moments? The need was there, but is this a proper value play?"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections 49ers Salary CapLevi’s Stadium Events49ers Transactions49ers Injury News49ers Press Conferences & Conference Calls49ers Rookies2019 NFL Draft: 49ers picks, mock drafts, news, rumors, analysis49ers draft a punter in the 4th, raising questions about decision-makingNew,416commentsThe need was there, but is this a proper value play?PDTShareTweetShareShare49ers draft a punter in the 4th, raising questions about decision-makingRuss Isabella-USA TODAY SportsThe San Francisco 49ers spent a fourth round pick on punter Mitch Wishnowsky, and you know that excites me. Well, drafting a punter makes me happy. Spending a fourth round pick on the position? It raises some question marks.Any time a special teams player is draft before the sixth round, eyebrows are raised. When it happens in the fourth round, there are usually strong responses. The 49ers needed a punter, so you can’t fault filling said need. But could they have landed Wishnowsky later? In the phone call to Wishnowsky Trent Taylor Jersey , head coach Kyle Shanahan told him they were worried they would not be able to land him. He did not offer any more specifics, but it would suggest they thought someone else was interested in Wishnowsky in the fourth. The 49ers spent the 110th overall pick on Wishnowsky, and the next punter off the board was Stanford’s Jake Bailey to the New England Patriots at No. 163.The Patriots sent a seventh to the Philadelphia Eagles to move up four spots to land Bailey. After the draft, John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan both acknowledged the Patriots and others were likely interested.Lynch: “We had a number of teams that we felt were interested in adding a punter and felt like he had distanced himself, and the fact he kicks off and is a very good holder, as well. So, all those things fit into the puzzle.”Shanahan: “That’s a hard thing to figure out. Everyone knows he’s the best punter in the draft, and when is he going to go, and you always want to take that as late as possible, so you feel the same way going in the fourth. You’d love to do it in the seventh, but I promise you we wouldn’t have gotten him if we tried to do it in the fifth. That’s why the Patriots traded up to take next guy in the fifth.”Lynch said the team loved what Wishnowsky brought to the table, and easily led the field as the prospect they wanted. This raises another question. Is the punter position sufficiently valuable enough that you need to invest a fourth round pick in the best player if you think he is that much better. He has gotten some comps Seattle Seahawks All Pro punter Michael Dickson. If Wishnowsky proved to be as good as Dickson, is he worth the pick? Or is the drop-off to Bailey or another worth spending that fourth on another need?A great punter is valuable in flipping field position, but fourth round value? The 49ers were 18th in total points, and if the offense improves, they very well could slide further down the list. Fewer points ideally further decreases that value. You know I love a great punter as much as anybody, but I won’t pretend spending high picks on a punter is not a bit of a head scratcher. And when you add in the context of the 49ers history the past two years, it raises questions. Oscar Aparicio offered a solid take on overpaying. The 49ers decision to draft a punter in the fourth round is not exactly an outlier in their decision-making. They’ve spent big on positions that traditionally are not invested as such. You can make individual arguments for each decision, but until the team actually starts winning some football games, the totality of the decisions will keep us scratching our heads in the short term. This could pan out where the 49ers have one of the best punters in the league for the next decade — and I’d love to see that. But it is reasonable to raise questions about the decision-making process.

Russell Wilson signed the richest contract in NFL history. But is it the best contract in NFL History? Maybe not.An argument could be made that the contract signed last year by Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is better than Wilson’s new deal.(Let me know when you stop laughing.)Wilson’s deal commits him to the Seahawks through 2023 Womens Duane Brown Jersey , at an average payout of $31.4 million per year. Of the $157 million payout, 68 percent is guaranteed for injury and 44.5 percent is fully guaranteed at signing.Cousins’ contract covers only three years, with an average of $28 million per year. The full amount — all $84 million — is fully guaranteed at signing. While Wilson is getting $3.1 million more per year, Cousins will hit the market again in 2021. Wilson won’t hit the market until 2024, at the earliest. And there’s an important difference regarding whether Cousins and/or Wilson will hit the open market. Wilson will be subject to the franchise or transition tag. Cousins has a no-transition tag in his contract, and the 44-percent rule (since he’s twice been tagged before) would make his franchise tender a whopping $44 million in 2021.Whether Cousins will get a market-value deal in 2021 will depend largely on whether and to what extent he plays well enough to merit one. But with the top of the quarterback market already spiking from $25 million per year to $35 million per year in less than 22 months, and with the salary cap poised to continue to spike with a new labor deal, new TV deals, and the growth of legalized gambling, Wilson may soon regret being committed through 2023.Cousins, on the other hand, may be very happy to be hitting the market at a time when agents and teams will know much more about where the cap is heading than they do now. With only the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl left before the 2018 NFL season comes to a close, fans of the Seattle Seahawks have long since turned their attention to the upcoming frenzies of free agency and the draft. Obviously there are a lot of internal matters which the team could address in the coming weeks, including potentially retaining their own free agents such as Frank Clark (gonna do it), Justin Coleman (highly probable) and Earl Thomas (not happening), but in the meantime we get to speculate wildly about how a bunch of college kids who have never played a snap in the NFL are going to come in and contribute in a major way in 2019. To that end, Field Gulls film breakdown master Matty F. Brown is in Mobile for the Senior Bowl this week taking an early gander at some of the players who could have their names called by the Seahawks in Nashville in April. However, in the meantime we get to speculate wildly while we wait for the underwear Olympics in Indianapolis at the end of February. As we wait, we are left to fill our time watching highlights and gobbling up the bits of news that dribble out here and there. On that note Womens Dion Jordan Jersey , yesterday the following clip of multiple receivers at Kansas State University was posted to Twitter, and it of course includes the Hawks 2018 breakout star, Tyler Lockett. However, Tyler isn’t the only Lockett in the tape, as it also includes some highlights of both his uncle, Aaron Lockett, and his dad, Kevin Lockett. It also includes multiple other players who have found some level of success in the NFL, including names such as Jordy Nelson, Brandon Banks and Quincy Morgan. However, in watching the string of highlights and the names that come through, one thing that jumps out is how many of these Wildcat receivers have ties to Hawks GM John Schneider. Schneider, of course, was involved in the selection of the aforementioned Tyler Lockett in 2015 by the Seahawks, but Tyler wasn’t the first receiver Schneider tried to bring to Seattle from K-State. Two years prior to selecting Lockett in the third round, Schneider had used a fourth round pick to draft Chris Harper. Harper never caught on at any of his stops with various NFL teams, but it grabbed my attention and forced me to watch the clip all the way to the finish. In the video, there are 13 different receivers shown, and John Schneider was involved with the drafting of four of them. In reverse order of the selections Barkevious Mingo Jersey , the following are the ones in which Schneider was involved:Tyler Lockett, 2015, Seattle Seahawks (3.69 - 2015)Chris Harper, 2013, Seattle Seahawks (4.123 - 2013)Jordy Nelson, 2008, Green Bay Packers (2.36 - 2008)Kevin Lockett, 1997, Kansas City Chiefs (2.47 - 1997)That is certainly interesting, but what is even more remarkable is that many of the receivers shown in the video went undrafted. The names that were not drafted are the following: Byron PringleCurry SextonTramaine ThompsonBrandon BanksJames TerryThat leaves just four other receivers in the video who were drafted, and those were: Taco Wallace - Seattle Seahawks (7.224 - 2003)Aaron Lockett - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7.254 - 2002)Quincy Morgan - Cleveland Browns (2.33 - 2001)Darnell McDonald - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7.240 - 1999)That puts it in a situation where ten separate wide receivers out of Kansas State have been drafted in the past twenty five years, and John Schneider has been involving in the drafting of four of them. Now, there aren’t slated to be any receivers from K-State in the draft this spring, but it’s certainly an interesting tidbit to store away in the back of the big brain on Brad, and gives us something else to think about as we whittle away the months until training camp opens in July. (Which should be in twenty weeks and one day, in case you were wondering.)

Barrie extended his career-best point streak to 11 games, the longest run for an Avalanche defenseman since the franchise moved to Colorado.”Barrie’s been driving our offense from the back end for quite some time now,” coach Jared Bednar said.Chicago had three more power-play chances in the third, but came up empty each time. We just didn’t get the result.”New York outshot Nashville 22-11 over the final two periods and had several chances at the tying goal in the third, but couldn’t beat Saros.“We have great goaltending on this team and they’re doing a great job back there,” Arvidsson said. “We’re trying to help them as much as we can. Sometimes they do amazing saves. It’s good to have them.”Trailing 2-1 after one period Bobby Ryan Jersey , the Islanders tied it early in the second. Tanner Fritz deflected a shot by Filppula that bounced off both posts, and Filppula tapped it in from in front of the goal line on the right side at 2:46.However, Smith put the Predators up 3-2 as he got a pass from Kyle Turris and fired it from between the circles off the post and in with 6 1/2 minutes left.Arvidsson got his second of the night with 3:18 to go in the middle period from the right side to make it 4-2.Lee, named the Islanders’ 15th captain in franchise history earlier in the week to replace the departed John Tavares, pulled New York within one with 29 seconds remaining in the second. Bailey’s pass deflected off Lee’s skate and then Saros’ pad before Lee knocked it in.Arvidsson got the Predators on the scoreboard first as he passed the puck to himself between his skates while he got around defenseman Ryan Pulock, skated in and beat Greiss for his first 3:42 into the game.“I thought I had (Roman Josi) on a 2-on-1 like last game but he was cutting behind me,” Arvidsson said. “So I figured I’d try to catch him (Pulock) standing still … and managed to do that and nice to see it go in.”New York then tied it on a goal awarded after a video review with just under 8 minutes left in the opening period. Josh Bailey stripped the puck from Subban behind the net, sent it out in front to Barzal at the right side and the reigning Calder Trophy winner as the league’s top rookie put it between Saros’ legs. The goalie appeared to smother the puck with his pads, but the review showed his pad was across the goal line.Ekholm regained the lead for Nashville as he beat Greiss from the top of the left circle with 3:04 left.NOTES: Turris has 11 assists and 15 points in 20 games against the Islanders. … The Islanders and Predators conclude the two-game season series Oct. 13 at Nashville. … Islanders C Brock Nelson played in his 400th game. … Filppula, in his first season in New York and 14th in the NHL, has 10 goals and 27 points in 50 games against te Predators. … Trotz was Nashville head coach for the franchise’s first 15 seasons and holds the franchise records for games coached (1,196) and wins (557) — putting him third all-time in NHL history in both categories with one franchise.UP NEXTPredators: Host Calgary in their home opener on Tuesday night.Islanders: Host San Jose on Monday.

The retirement of the Sedin twins eliminated two Vancouver Canucks stars from Sweden who presented problems for the Calgary Flames Matt Cullen Jersey Womens , but it now looks like another Swedish standout has arrived on the scene.Calgary fans get their first regular season look at Canucks phenom Elias Pettersson on Saturday as the Flames host Vancouver for Calgary’s regular-season home opener at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The fifth overall pick from the 2017 entry draft scored in his NHL debut on Wednesday and added an assist in the Canucks’ 5-2 win over the Flames in Vancouver, setting high expectations for his first season.Article continues below ...“I think you can tell the potential he has, the plays he makes and the way he sees the ice,” Canucks defenseman Alex Edler, another Swede, told reporters. “Now he just has to do it 81 more times.”The rebuilding Canucks, who are without Henrik and Daniel Sedin for the first time in 18 seasons, haven’t been given much respect heading into the new season and are anticipated to be a lottery team come April. The Flames, on the other hand, are being billed as a contender for a playoff spot after failing to live up to expectations in 2017-18.Pettersson, a 19-year-old center, joins Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser as the offensive leaders for Vancouver. One game in to his career Derek Grant Jersey Womens , he’s already impressing.“Nothing seems to faze him,” Horvat told the media in Vancouver. “He doesn’t get too high or too low. He doesn’t get discouraged.” Pettersson led the Swedish Hockey League in scoring with 56 points (24 goals, 32 assists) in 44 games and was named league MVP in the regular season and playoffs last season.Saturday’s game marks the home debut for Calgary’s new local favorite, Dillon Dube, who made his NHL debut in Vancouver. From the Calgary bedroom community of Cochrane, the second-round pick from 2017 had an impressive preseason with four goals and two assists. It left general manager Brad Treliving with no choice but to keep the 20-year-old around for the start of the regular season.Although he was asked about his first NHL game prior to face-off on Wednesday, Dube was queried afterward about having teammate Travis Hamonic stand up for him after he was popped by Erik Gudbranson.Turns out, that fight was costly as it left Hamonic with a fractured jaw that on Friday put him on the injured reserved and out week-to-week.Rasmus Andersson was recalled Friday to replace Hamonic. The 21-year-old played 10 games with the Flames last season and was close to making the regular season roster this season. “(Travis) stuck up for me and obviously I have to do a lot for him for the rest of the year. I look up to him because when you do that for a teammate, it means a lot,” Dube said.“Gudbranson, he’s a pretty big dude. So when you go up and do that … I just hope he gets back as soon as he can.”Hamonic had this to say about the fight when chatting with Ryan Leslie of Sportsnet on Thursday: “If that were my kid, I’d want someone to do something about it.” GLENDALE Erik Karlsson Jersey Womens , Ariz. — The Tampa Bay Lightning are well aware of the dangers of waiting until January or February to start making a playoff push.Perhaps that’s why they often take care of business, and in an emphatic way, well before that. The Arizona Coyotes, whose inability to reach the playoffs is in direct contrast to the Lightning’s frequent playoff success, know all too well how a season can get away from a team in October.Article continues below ...The Lightning, off to their usual strong start, will take a seven-game points streak into Gila River Arena to play the Coyotes on Saturday night. It’s the second half of a back-to-back for the Lightning, who won their third in a row by defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 at T-Mobile Arena on Friday.Tyler Johnson, Brayden Point and J.T. Miller scored for the Lightning, and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves.“Our goaltender was there when we needed him and recorded a big win in a tough spot on the road,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. “He was in the zone again and was tracking pucks, and our guys were good with letting him see pucks. You can get the shots Patrick Maroon Jersey Womens , but if he can see them, he’ll usually stop them.”Victor Hedman, the Lightning’s star defenseman, sustained an undisclosed injury midway through the first period and didn’t return. He is not expected to play Saturday, but Cooper doesn’t think his injury will be long term. The Lightning are 7-1-1 overall and 6-0-1 in their last seven games. Nothing new there for a team that opened up 9-1-1 and 16-3-2 last season and was 5-1 to start the 2016-17 season. They’ve used good beginnings to help them reach the Eastern Conference finals two of the last three seasons. The Coyotes, however, aren’t the team they were at the start of the last two NHL seasons — and that’s encouraging to coach Rick Tocchet and his players.Arizona opened up 1-10-1 last season and never recovered. The season before that, the Coyotes lost five of their first six. This season, the Coyotes (4-5-0) have won two in a row — the first time in three Octobers they’ve done that — and three of four. Much of the reason for the Coyotes’ improvement is their goaltending, with both starter Antti Raanta (2-4, 2.32 goals-against average) and backup Darcy Kuemper (2-1, 1.34) playing well to date.“We’ve gotten excellent goaltending Tyler Bozak Jersey Womens , right from the start of the year, and it’s really helped us,” Tocchet said Friday. “We’re still giving up some Grade-A chances, and we’ll try to eliminate that, but the goalies have been really good. They’re giving us a chance to win every night.”Raanta sat out the last two games with flu-like symptoms, and Kuemper stepped in to make 62 saves on 64 shots as the Coyotes beat the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday and the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday, both by 4-1 scores. The Coyotes’ season quickly came apart last season when Raanta missed much of the first half of the season with three different injuries and Tocchet and general manager John Chayka couldn’t find a suitable backup. They tried Louis Domingue, Scott Wedgewood and Adin Hill without success, with Dominque going 0-6 with a 4.33 goals-against average and an .856 save percentage. But once Raanta was healthy during the second half of the season, his 2.24 goals-against average and .930 save percentage were the best in the NHL for goaltenders who played as much as he did. And Chayka not only picked up the reliable Kuemper in a late-season trade with the Los Angeles Kings, he signed Raanta and Kuemper to multi-year contracts.Coincidentally, Domingue landed with the Lightning despite his horrid statistics with Arizona Chad Johnson Jersey Womens , and he’ll start Saturday night against his former team. The Coyotes also appear to have solved their early-season scoring issues. They were shut out in three of their first four games, including their first two home games, but they’ve scored 15 goals in the past four games.“We didn’t score in the first few games, but we knew if we stuck with it the goals would come in bunches, and that’s kind of happened,” forward Brendan Perlini said. The Lightning and Coyotes split their two-game season series in 2017-18, with each team winning in the other’s building.

BUFFALO Authentic Daniel Sedin Jersey , N.Y. (AP) — didn’t prevent Buffalo’s top line from carrying the load again.Jeff Skinner scored twice, including his team-leading 28th goal, and Sam Reinhart had a goal and an assist for the Sabres in a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.“It’s great to see that Skinner scores. At this point in the season, that’s the way it’s going to go to win a one-goal game,” Buffalo coach Phil Housley said. “We’ve lost some one-goal games in the past and it’s going to be tight. It’s going to be a great test for us.”Buffalo snapped an 0-2-1 skid while overcoming the loss of Eichel, who missed his first game since sustaining an upper-body injury in a 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders on Monday. Without disclosing the nature of the injury, Housley listed Eichel as day to day while also saying the captain will not play in Buffalo’s next game at Boston on Saturday.Eichel’s absence placed even more pressure on a team that’s spent much of this season relying on its top line, which entered the night having accounted for 49 of Buffalo’s 115 goals.Skinner and Reinhart delivered in a game the Sabres never trailed. They beat Florida for the first time since March 27, 2017 Womens Derek Dorsett Jersey , to snap an 0-6-1 skid against the Panthers.Buffalo also improved to 5-7-4 since its 10-game winning streak, which equaled a franchise record.“I don’t think we’re sort of a fragile group,” Skinner said, referring to the Sabres’ slump. “I think we did a good job of responding like that as a team.”Tage Thompson also scored for Buffalo, and Linus Ullmark stopped 35 shots to win his fourth consecutive start.Alexander Barkov had a goal and an assist for the Panthers, who lost for just the third time in nine games. Mike Hoffman and Frank Vatrano also scored.Roberto Luongo gave up two goals on the first four shots he faced and finished with 29 saves.A slow start cost the Panthers three days after they overcame a 3-0 first-period deficit in a 4-3 shootout win at Detroit.“The difference was they came out stronger than us in the first period,” Hoffman said. “It’s not easy to point a finger at exactly what it is. Obviously, we’ve got to take a little more responsibility in this room.”Skinner opened the scoring 4:42 into the game. And he sealed the win by putting Buffalo up 4-2 with 3:46 left, just less than three minutes after Hoffman scored a power-play goal.Skinner scored by collecting a loose puck in his own zone http://www.officialcanucks.com/authentic-adidas-henrik-sedin-jersey , driving up the left wing and snapping a shot that sneaked in under Luongo’s right arm. With Buffalo up 2-1, Reinhart also provided a lift for the Sabres by deflecting in Lawrence Pilut’s shot 1:20 into the third period. The game featured several shifts in momentum, with each team scoring disputed goals.Vatrano cut Buffalo’s lead to 2-1 by scoring on a 2-on-1 break in which he was allowed to break free out of his own zone only after Florida’s Keith Yandle knocked over Buffalo’s Rasmus Dahlin, who was two steps away from playing the puck.Housley said officials informed him they considered Yandle’s hit to be incidental contact. The Panthers were unhappy with Reinhart’s goal, arguing he deflected it in with a high stick.“I didn’t really know. You can’t see a lot on the monitors on the bench,” Florida coach Bob Boughner said. “We were relying on the league to review it, so I guess they obviously must have.”Buffalo had a goal disallowed 42 seconds later, when officials ruled Sabres forward Kyle Okposo interfered with Luongo before Marco Scandella snapped in a shot from inside the blue line.NOTES: Reinhart set a career best with his 31st assist of the season on Skinner’s first goal. … Evan Rodrigues took Eichel’s spot in centering Buffalo’s first line. … Florida D Chris Wideman was scratched after practicing with the team Wednesday for the first time since being acquired by the Panthers in a trade with Edmonton on Sunday.UP NEXTPanthers: Host Columbus on Saturday.Sabres: At Boston on Saturday. Not a star like teammates Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown. He is highly valued, though Jacob Markstrom Jersey , and his worth was clear Thursday night when he returned to lead the Kings to a 3-1 victory over the Washington Capitals. In his first game in two months, Lewis came down the far wall, took a shot, got the rebound and took another, and finally as the puck popped up as he skated by, he batted it into the net.It was the go-ahead goal and enough to hold off the Capitals.”Lewie is one of those glue guys,” said Kings coach John Stevens. ”He’s the conscious of the coach. It just seems like he understands and reads everything going on out there. He’s always on top of pucks and does the little things well.”Lewis had missed 12 games with an upper-body injury. Jeff Carter, also recently back from injury, opened the scoring Markus Granlund Jersey , and Kyle Clifford scored into an empty net. Jonathan Quick made 29 saves as the Kings moved one point ahead of Colorado for the second wild card in the Western Conference.”A very desperate team with where they are in the standings,” Capitals coach Barry Trotz said. ”We have to match that desperation.”It was a pretty even game. We just needed a little more finish, get a dirty goal, get something on the power play. It’s not coming easy for us. We just have to battle through it.”The Kings fought off two Washington power plays in the third period.Rookie Jakub Vrana scored for the Capitals, his 12th on the season. Braden Holtby stopped 24 shots. The Kings were smarting after blowing a three-goal lead at home to struggling Chicago on Saturday and then had four days off before playing the Capitals. The time off, though, may have proved beneficial to Lewis’ return.”I think the last four days with getting some practice time in there really helped,” Lewis said. ”And obviously I was able to skate most of the time, too Michael Del Zotto Jersey , so I was able to keep my legs as best I could.”His return gave the Kings their full roster healthy for the first time this season.”It’s been a long time coming,” Stevens said. ”We’re going to need depth coming down the stretch.”Washington was first in its division when it started its three-game California trip but has lost consecutive games to Anaheim and Los Angeles.”We’re just in a rut,” Washington’s Brett Connolly said. ”It’s not coming easy for us right now and we all know that. (AP) — Tampa Bay’s bid to escape a deep hole and climb back into the race for a NFC playoff berth is all but over. The Buccaneers (5-8) weren’t eliminated by Sunday’s 28-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints, however the team is assured of finishing no better than .500 after sputtering offensively and wearing down defensively after holding a 14-3 halftime lead.Oh, and special teams contributed to the demise, too.Cairo Santos missed two field goals http://www.buccaneerslockerroom.com/authentic-vernon-hargreaves-iii-jersey , one after Jason Pierre-Paul recovered Drew Brees‘ fumble deep in Saints territory and a blocked punt led to a touchdown that sparked New Orleans’ rally.“That was a momentum change. We had other chances, but that was definitely a big play,” coach Dirk Koetter said.“Our defense was on the field way too much in the second half. I think we had 16, almost 17 minutes of time of possession in the first half, and like 12 in the second half,” Koetter added. “That’s not going to work against the Saints.”It didn’t help, either, that Tampa Bay was penalized 10 times for 84 yards, including an unnecessary roughness penalty against center Ryan Jensen late in the second quarter that led to a heated verbal exchange with quarterback Jameis Winston. Both players said the dustup wasn’t a big deal.“Families fight. Me and Jameis are highly competitive guys and we just had simple words,” Jensen said. “We talked about it. We got cooled down and talked about it and everything is good.”Winston was 18 of 38 passing for 213 yards Bryan Anger Jersey , two touchdowns and an interception on Tampa Bay’s final play. He was sacked four times and led the Bucs in rushing for the second straight week with 47 yards on five attempts.“Brothers have disagreements,” the quarterback said. “It wasn’t that much.”Koetter said he hadn’t talked about the situation with either player. The coach said Winston wasn’t as sharp as the previous two weeks in victories over San Francisco and Carolina.Koetter noted, however, that Winston did a good job of protecting the football. The problem was New Orleans defense was on its game after giving up a long TD drive to begin the game.“Jameis was under duress all day. Jameis got hit too many times. You can’t have your quarterback hit that many times whether it’s scrambling, running, four sacks,” Koetter said. “I mean, you can’t get hit that much.”In addition to outscoring the Bucs 25-0 in the second half, the Saints limited the NFL’s No. 1-ranked offense to 79 yards after halftime. Most of that yardage came on Tampa Bay’s last drive, which ended with an interception with 1 second left.“We have to finish better Gerald McCoy Jersey , execute better,” Winston said.“It wasn’t good enough in the second half. We’ve just got to take ownership of that,” tackle Demar Dotson said.“Going into the second half I thought that we had an opportunity to put a fork into them,” Dotson added, “but they got a boost of confidence from a missed field goal, a punt blocked.”

Crazy as it may sound Scott Miller Jersey , the New York Giants are starting to believe they have a chance to make a run at the playoffs. It’s amazing what a couple of wins can do for a team after a 1-7 start.Saquon Barkley ran for a career-high 142 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Giants held off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 38-35 on Sunday to win consecutive games for the first time since December 2016.“I think there is some excitement going around,” said Eli Manning , who hit 17 of 18 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. “It is good. It is a good feeling to have in the locker room and you see some growth. You see the improvement.”What the Giants (3-7) are doing is making plays and finishing. The running game has picked up and it’s opened up the passing game, and the defense is forcing turnovers. The group intercepted four passes in sending the Bucs (3-7) to their fourth straight loss with linebacker Alec Ogletree returning one 15 yards for a touchdown.“I just know that we’re playing better and I just love to see these guys in here after the game with smiles on their faces,” said receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who caught an 8-yard touchdown pass. “We just put it all together, so it’s always a lot more fun when you win.”Playing in the NFC East also helps increase the belief the Giants are not dead.Washington, which fell to Houston and lost quarterback Alex Smith for the season to a broken leg, leads the division with a 6-4 record. No other team has a winning record.“We’ve got a long way to go, there are a lot of things we’ve got to get better at, but if we can just keep battling and fighting, who knows?” coach Pat Shurmur said. “That would be a fun thing for everybody to write about.”The Giants never trailed as Manning found a wide-open Barkley on a 6-yard TD pass on the opening series, and the No. 2 overall pick in the draft scored from 5 yards out on the second possession to give New York the lead for good.“We’re finishing games and we’re finishing drives, and that’s what we weren’t doing in the first half of the season,” Barkley said of his first winning streak as a pro.Tampa Bay made things interesting after Jameis Winston replaced a turnover-plagued Ryan Fitzpatrick in the third quarter and led four touchdown drives. The last score came on a 41-yard pass to Mike Evans with 2:22 to play and got the Bucs within 38-35.The Bucs got the ball back at their 20 with 23 seconds to play, but B.W. Webb intercepted Winston’s long throw down the sideline to ice the win. After Tampa Bay got within 31-28, Manning, whose only incompletion came on a short pass to Barkley late in the second quarter Scott Miller Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jersey , connected with tight end Evan Engram on a 54-yard pass and run on the second play after the kickoff, and Barkley capped the drive with a 2-yard run with 3:52 to play. The Winston-to-Evans TD pass closed the gap to three points again.“It hurts me when I have to see my team lose a game because I turned the ball over,” Winston said. “And I’m sure it hurts Fitz. And I’m sure it hurts anyone that has a hand in what they believe led the other team to winning. That’s our main focus. We have to find a way to win.”Fitzpatrick scored on a fourth-down 1-yard run for the Tampa Bay, which squandered a chance to score on its opening possession when Fitzpatrick was stopped on a quarterback sneak inside the Giants’ 5.Evans recovered a fumble in the end zone in the third quarter to start the comeback, Peyton Barber tallied from 5 yards out and Adam Humphrie s and Evans caught TD passes in the fourth quarter to get the Bucs within three points twice.Winston finished 12 of 16 for 199 yards and two touchdowns. Barber rushed for 106 yards on 18 carries. Evans had six catches for 120 yards. Fitzpatrick was 13 of 21 for 167 and the three interceptions.INJURIESBuccaneers TE O.J. Howard left the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. Giants DL Kerry Wynn left the game in the second half with a concussion.WELCOME SACKJason Pierre-Paul, the Giants’ 2010 first-round draft pick, returned to face his old team for the first time since being traded in the spring. He had 1陆 of the Bucs’ four sacks. He helped Manning up after the first sack.“I just said to him: ‘Get up, stop falling,’ but no, I was just helping him up because that used to be my old teammate and I’m not trying to hurt him, I’m just trying to play football and have good sportsmanship,” Pierre-Paul said.Kareem Martin had the Giants’ first and only sack in the last three games.UP NEXTBuccaneers: Host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.Giants: Travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles on Sunday. Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't the only reason the surprising Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to their fastest start in eight years.Speedy receiver DeSean Jackson is making a difference, too, finally beginning to deliver what the team has been expecting since signing him in free agency before last season.Fitzpatrick has thrown for 819 yards and eight touchdowns in victories over New Orleans and defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia the past two weeks. Jackson has a pair of 100-yard games receiving and three TDs — two of them on plays of 50-plus yards."It's unbelievable. He's playing out of this world right now," said Jackson, who scored on a 75-yard reception of the first play of scrimmage in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Eagles."He's in his prime," the 31-year-old receiver added of the 35-year-old quarterback who's filling in for suspended starter Jameis Winston. "Us old guys, we are in our prime. He's playing like he's 28 and I'm playing like I'm 24. So as long as we keep doing that Cheap Scott Miller Jersey , it's going to be a good year."Jackson, coming off a disappointing debut with the Bucs in 2017, has nine catches for 275 yards and three TDs the past two weeks after having one of his least productive seasons with 50 receptions for 668 yards and three TDs in 14 games a year ago.He followed a five-catch, 146-yard, two-TD performance against the Saints with a four-catch, 129-yard performance against the Eagles. And with TDs of 58 and 75 yards this season, he's eased ahead of Hall of Famers Lance Alworth and Terrell Owens for the third-most TD receptions of 50-plus yards behind Hall of Famers Jerry Rice (36) and Randy Moss (29).Jackson, who spent six seasons with the Eagles and three with the Washington Redskins before signing a three-year, $33.5 million contract to join the Bucs, has 23 career TDs of 60 or more yards — tied with Rice for most in league history."I talked about this since I was younger, it's being legendary and leaving something for the league to understand that I made my mark, man," Jackson said. "I still have a lot of ball left in me. To tie Jerry Rice's records is very emotional for me."When Tampa Bay signed Jackson in March 2017, the Bucs were coming off a 9-7 finish the season before and envisioned the speedy wideout adding a much-needed element to their offense: a deep threat not only capable of stretching defenses, but someone able to turn short completions into big gainers."For me, it's unbelievable to have a guy like DeSean out there running around," Fitzpatrick said. "Loft the ball up and he can go get it and turn it into a 75-yard touchdown. He's a special player, and he showed that again."Through two games Scott Miller Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jersey , Fitzpatrick has four completions of 50-plus yards, all for touchdowns. In addition to teaming with Jackson on the first play against Philadelphia, the 14-year veteran connected with tight end O.J. Howard on a 75-yard catch-and-run play against the Eagles.Meanwhile, four-time 1,000-yard receiver Mike Evans and second-year pro Chris Godwin each have two TD receptions."We have good skill guys. ... Chris Godwin is an emerging star. O.J. Howard is an emerging star. DeSean Jackson, Mike Evans (are) proven, big-time players," coach Dirk Koetter said. "If you really think about it, we've still got Cam Brate and Adam Humphries, who just aren't getting very many chances right now."Next up is a Monday night matchup against Pittsburgh at home, with a chance to begin a season with three consecutive wins for the first time since 2005."You can't peak too early. We have a lot of football left," Jackson said."We have a big one coming up with Big Ben (Roethlisberger) and AB (Antonio Brown) coming to town," the receiver added. "I grew-up a Steeler fan, so I'm going to be amped up for that game too."

Making the last minute effort to honor Cobb speaks a lot about Johny Lynch and company. What makes this that much better is that Cobb went to the University of Tennessee. The draft is being held in Nashville. DeMarcus grew up three hours from Nashville. Just an awesome gesture by the team.Live updates from Robert Saleh Week 6 press conference The San Francisco 49ers return to practice on Friday as they continue preparations for their Week 6 Monday Night Football contest against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Plus much more on NFL Week 8. RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin is considering retirement after an offseason during which the 30-year-old veteran has undergone multiple surgeries, general manager John Schneider said Friday night.Schneider said the Seahawks are trying to respect what Baldwin wants to do and that it’s not clear what his final decision will be. But Schneider and coach Pete Carroll confirmed an earlier ESPN report that Baldwin is considering not playing again.“Considering it, yeah. But there is a process to go through with that,” Schneider said.Baldwin underwent surgeries on his shoulder and groin this offseason. Carroll said Baldwin also had a procedure on his knee but didn’t describe it as a surgery. Baldwin played through multiple injuries last year that started in training camp and followed him the entire season.“He has been an extraordinary part of this program since we’ve been here and he has given us everything he has had. A great competitor C. J. Prosise Jersey , the player and all of that,” Carroll said. “And we believe in him so much and trust in him so much that wherever this goes we’re going to support him forever. He’s been a great contributor in so many ways, and not just on the team but in the community and everything else he does. He’s been awesome. We’ll see what happens and he’s working through it and we’re going to follow Doug on this one.”Baldwin was an undrafted free agent who became a star in Seattle. He had 50 receptions for 618 yards and five touchdowns last season although he was hampered by injuries. He missed a large chunk of training camp due to a knee injury, two games in September with a separate knee injury and he played through both groin and hip issues.Baldwin has been at the team’s facility rehabbing from his latest surgery — a sports hernia procedure earlier this month — but Schneider acknowledged the difficulty in trying to recover after the amount of repair that was needed.“We know Doug is going to have a hard time. There is a process we need to go through with Doug,” he said.Baldwin is a two-time Pro Bowl selection who has twice topped 1,000 yards receiving. He led the NFL with 14 touchdown catches in 2015 and a year later had a career-high 94 catches. Baldwin has started 76 of the past 77 games for the Seahawks dating to 2014 and has been the most trusted pass catcher for Russell Wilson during their time together.Baldwin acknowledged late last season that the injuries had him contemplating his future.“You go through the process of feeling immortal when you’re younger. I think we all go through that process,” Baldwin said in late December. “And then kind of contemplating where you take this and then things start to change and priorities outside of football change and life changes and you start to think about things in a bigger picture when football is such a small sliver on your lifetime.”

their top two goaltenders when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday at Staples Center. The Kings announced Monday that Jack Campbell would need surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee and would be sidelined 4-6 weeks. Campbell had taken over for Jonathan Quick www.officialwild.com , who underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a torn meniscus. The Kings (5-10-1) have just two healthy goalies in their organization, Cal Petersen and Peter Budaj.Article continues below ...“There are no external options right now,” Kings goalie coach Bill Ranford told LA Kings Insider. “You rely on waiver wire and stuff like that, but right now there are injuries around the league and there are no guys available.”Los Angeles recalled Petersen from the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League on Monday.Petersen, 24, was 2-3-1 in 10 games with the Reign this season. He owns a 4.29 goals-against-average and a .881 save percentage. Petersen signed a two-year entry-level deal with the Kings in July of 2017 following his junior year at Notre Dame.He showed his durability with the Fighting Irish, starting 90 straight games during one stretch, the fourth-longest streak in NCAA history.Budaj will likely start in goal against the Maple Leafs (11-6-0), who scored four goals on 25 shots against Campbell in a 4-1 win against the visiting Kings on Oct. 15. That win capped a season-long five-game winning streak for Toronto and came early in a six-game losing skid for Los Angeles. The Maples Leafs entered the week as the sixth-highest scoring team in the NHL at 3.41 goals a game, while Los Angeles was 31st at 2.06.Toronto was unbeaten on the road until a 5-1 loss at the Boston Bruins on Saturday dropped the Maple Leafs to 6-1-0 away from Scotiabank Arena.“We’ll just get regrouped and get back at her,” Toronto coach Mike Babcock told reporters after the loss. “Things have gone well for us all year, and we plan on regrouping and playing well.”The Kings will be playing the final game of a season-long seven-game homestand. They were hoping the 2 1/2 weeks at home would turn around their season, but they are 3-3-0 so far and fired coach John Stevens on Nov. 4.Los Angeles brought in Willie Desjardins and then beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-1 in his first game behind the bench last Tuesday. That gave the Kings their first two-game winning streak of the season Minnesota Wild T-Shirts Authentic , but they’ve since lost back-to-back games to the Minnesota Wild (3-1) and Calgary Flames (1-0).“We have to create some systems that are going to get guys more involved,” Desjardins told reporters after the loss to Calgary. “We’ve got to force ourselves to get up ice and play more aggressive and play more offensive.”Desjardins said he’d like his players to keep that a mindset, even if it leads to more scoring chances going the other way.“We’re not creating enough right now,” he said. “We want to be more of an aggressive team. I think all our guys know that we’ve had our opportunities, and we haven’t capitalized on them.” WASHINGTON (AP) — Logan Couture needed a new stick for overtime. So convinced the San Jose Sharks were heading toward another loss, Couture went to the bench and broke his stick over the boards. Then he looked up and saw Evander Kane score the tying goal with one second left. Minutes later, Tomas Hertl completed his hat trick in overtime to beat the Washington Capitals 7-6 Tuesday night.Hertl went hat trick-for-hat trick with Alex Ovechkin, scoring 1:48 into the extra period to snap the Sharks’ losing streak at three and send them into a 10-day break on a high note.“All the guys in here could’ve easily looked forward to tomorrow and our break, but we decided to play hard for the third and found a way to tie it up and win it,” Couture said after the Sharks erased a two-goal deficit in the third period. “Pretty wild to be able to tie that up there. Just a big-time goal and Herts to complete the hat trick was awesome there.”San Jose has allowed six goals in each of its past four games, and goaltender Martin Jones wasn’t at his best in giving up six on 39 shots this time. But he made two big saves in overtime to keep the game going. The defending Stanley Cup champion Capitals have lost six in a row for the first time since the 2013-14 season, the last time they missed the playoffs. All-Star goalie Braden Holtby fought the puck at times in allowing seven goals on 43 shots.“That’s not the way we need to play to win hockey games,” Holtby said. “We obviously haven’t been winning much lately. The solution isn’t to open up the game and go chance-for-chance. It’s a reality check. This is not good enough to win. From me Minnesota Wild Hoodies Authentic , from all of us.”Ovechkin, who scored goal Nos. 34, 35 and 36 to pad his NHL-leading total, took the blame for the loss for failing to make the right play with 20 seconds left and the Sharks’ net empty. Ovechkin’s shot attempt went off defenseman Brent Burns, and San Jose went the other way.“Tough loss,” Ovechkin said. “It was my mistake at the end of the game. I tried to make a rush play. Have to be better in this situation.”Ovechkin’s hat trick was his third this season and 23rd of his career, and he has sole possession of 14th on the career list with 643 goals. That bit of history was not enough to get Washington out of its funk.Although Joe Pavelski scored 12 seconds in, the Capitals took the lead midway through the first period and the Sharks were at their best playing from behind. Hertl scored twice on the power play, and his second goal kept San Jose in it with Jones pulled for an extra skater. After Couture went to the bench for a line change, his teammates got the puck into the zone and Kane managed to tap it in past Holtby with a second left on the clock. Kane had no doubt the puck was in before the buzzer, even though it showed 0.0 on the scoreboard.“Just wanted to forecheck the puck hard and try to get it to the front of the net somehow,” Kane said. “We got in there, Pavs was able to pick it up Minnesota Wild Hats Authentic , threw it at the end. Just desperate attempt, and it found its way to the backdoor.”Pavelski and Hertl each had four points in what coach Peter DeBoer likened to an East Coast All-Star Game five days early. It wasn’t an effort the Sharks were proud of, but after a rough road trip, they’ll take it.“We get it done, and the biggest thing is we get two big points before the bye week because it’s nice, a better feeling to fly back home before the break,” said Hertl, who has 22 goals this season. “I’m happy for the whole team because everybody put their everything.”NOTES: Couture scored his 19th goal on a 3-on-0 rush. … Pavelski’s goal matched the third-fastest to start a game in Sharks history. … Andre Burakovsky, T.J. Oshie and Evgeny Kuznetsov also scored for Washington. Kuznetsov’s goal was just his second at 5-on-5 this season. …Two-time Norris Trophy-winning Sharks D Erik Karlsson returned to California for further tests on his lower-body injury. Karlsson missed the past three games but is still a candidate to take part in All-Star Weekend in San Jose. … Sharks D Marc-Edouard Vlasic missed his ninth consecutive game with a wrist injury.UP NEXTSharks: Get a long layoff with the All-Star break and bye week before hosting the Arizona Coyotes on Feb. 2.Capitals: Face a short turnaround in visiting the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

goalie Corey Crawford will be sidelined again with a concussion.Crawford left Sunday’s 7-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks with 1:30 left in the first period after the back of his head struck the right post during a goalmouth pileup. The 33-year-old Crawford was pulled from a Dec. 23 Ryan Murray Jersey , 2017, game at New Jersey with a concussion and then missed the remainder of the 2017-18 season and the first five games of 2018-19. He returned on Oct. 18 against Arizona and is 6-14-2 with a 3.28 goals-against average in 23 games this season.Coach Jeremy Colliton announced Crawford’s injury following Sunday’s loss, but had no details on the severity or how long the goalie might be out.“He has a concussion,” Colliton said. “So he’ll be under the protocol and we’ll go from there.“I didn’t talk to him, but of course we’re concerned. I think a concussion is a concussion. Every concussion is different, so we’ll see.”On Sunday, Crawford allowed two goals on eight shots and left with Chicago leading 3-2.He was replaced by Cam Ward, who allowed five goals on 35 shots as San Jose roared back for its fourth straight win and dealt Chicago its 10th loss in 11 games.Crawford had just made a pad save on Logan Couture, who had broken in off the wing.As Couture cut across the crease, Chicago’s Dylan Strome tried to cut him off and slashed him.At the same instant Sergei Bobrovsky Jersey , San Jose’s Evander Kane plowed into Strome from behind and Strome tumbled into Crawford, forcing the goalie into the goalpost. Kane was assessed a minor penalty for goaltender interference.“I was trying to cut off Couture and just got rubbed out a little bit,” Strome said. “I don’t think Evander Kane is trying to hit me into Crawford and hurt him.“A lot of guys in a little space and stuff happens. We’re going fast and were coming back hard.”Crawford, who broke in with the Blackhawks in 2005-06, became their No. 1 goalie in 2010-11. He backstopped Chicago to Stanley Cup wins in 2013 and 2015, but his 14 losses for the current last-place Blackhawks are the most in the NHL.“A great goaltender, a great guy, and important part of the team,” Colliton said. “We hope for a quick recovery.” UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — The New York Islanders were energized by a boisterous home crowd as they rallied for a win in their first regular season game at Nassau Coliseum in more than 3 1/2 years.Casey Cizikas scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period and the Islanders beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 Saturday night.“It’s incredible Womens Seth Jones Jersey , I got goosebumps going down my body right now,” Cizikas said. “It was an emotional game today. Scott Mayfield and Jordan Eberle each had two assists to help New York improve to 10-2-0 against Metropolitan Division opponents this season.Ryan Pulock set up Cizikas at 7:09 of the third period to give the Islanders their first lead of the game and send the sell-out crowd into a frenzy. The right-handed shooting defenseman froze several Blue Jackets skaters as he circled the net and eventually found Cizikas all alone in front.“This is Islanders country plain and simple,” New York coach Barry Trotz said. “(The fans) are extremely passionate about their team.”It was the Islanders’ first regular season game at the Coliseum — the team’s home for 43 years from its inception in 1972 — since April 11, 2015. This was the first of 21 games at the arena as part of a unique arrangement with Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the Islanders’ home since the 2015-16 season. The Coliseum underwent $165 million in renovations that included; an upgraded locker room, brand new seats throughout the arena Sonny Milano Jersey , and a modernistic metallic look to the exterior part of the building. Despite all of the changes, the intimacy and infrastructure of the building helped the crowd create a playoff-like atmosphere as chants of ‘Let’s go Islanders’ reverberated throughout the venue.“It was an amazing feeling,” forward Matt Martin said. “We didn’t want to let the fans down — not an easy hockey team to come back against — our fan base was a big reason why we were able to come back. We were able to use them to our advantage the whole night.”Markus Hannikainen and Pierre-Luc Dubois scored for Columbus, which had won two straight. Cam Atkinson had an assist for his 300th career point and extending his point streak to 10 games. Sergei Bobrovsky finished with 26 saves.“A couple of small mistakes when the game was on the line that we need to be better at,” Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. “It’s just so frustrating the two mistakes that caused that third goal.”Columbus capitalized on two New York turnovers in less than two minutes early in the second period to earn a 2-0 advantage. After Josh Bailey’s floating outlet pass could not be controlled by Beauvillier, Seth Jones launched a slap shot which forced a big rebound opportunity. Hannikainen found the loose puck and got his fourth of the season at 6:46.The Blue Jackets doubled their advantage shortly after when Dubois wired a wrist shot off the crossbar and into the back of the net at 8:33. Atkinson got his milestone point on the play.Lee cut the Blue Jackets’ lead in half with eight minutes remaining in the middle period. The goal was initially waived off by the referee because the puck went off Lee’s hand and then his body as he fell toward the goal, but after a video review the call on the ice was overturned.“When we scored that first goal, you could hear the fans and it carried us the rest of the game,” Mayfiled said. “You could really tell the energy in the building flipped to our side and we held it the rest of the game.”Just 2:25 later, Beauvillier made up for an earlier mistake http://www.officialbluejackets.com/authentic-adidas-zach-werenski-jersey , finishing his own rebound to knot the game 2-2. late in the third period Saturday night in the 4-2 victory over the Washington Capitals Tomas Plekanec Jersey Womens , the Toronto Maple Leafs center joined some elite company. In scoring Toronto’s final goal of the season, Matthews notched his league-leading 10th after six games. He is the fifth player in the modern era (since 1943-44) to reach at least 10 goals in his team’s first 20 games of the season. The others were Bobby Hull, 1965-66 (Chicago Blackhawks), Mike Bossy, 1984-85 (New York Islanders), Dino Ciccarelli, 1986-87 (Minnesota North Stars) and Mario Lemieux, 1988-89 (Pittsburgh Penguins).Article continues below ...The Maple Leafs (5-1-0) won all four games on their road trip and will open a three-game homestand Monday night with a game against the Los Angeles Kings (2-2-1), who lost 5-1 to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.Another important aspect for the Maple Leafs in their win over last season’s Stanley Cup champions was that they had scoring from players like Josh Leivo (first of the season) and Par Lindholm (first of his NHL career) and Kasperi Kapanen (second of the season).“I think you have to have that,” Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock said. “Obviously, it’s great that our big guys got off to a good start because I think having them feeling good is so important. In saying that, part of the reason we’re going to have success is we have real good depth.”The Kings, meanwhile, will be trying to return to the standard of Thursday when Jack Campbell stopped 40 shots to earn his first career NHL shutout in a 3-0 victory over the Canadiens in Montreal.Jeff Carter had a goal and two assists in that game, his first points of the season. It was different in Ottawa. The defense broke down and the power play continued to sputter.“We’ve definitely got to clean some things up,” center Trevor Lewis, who scored the Kings’ goal on Saturday Tomas Tatar Jersey Womens , told the Los Angeles Times. “I think first and foremost it starts with our compete, right off the bat. We’ve got a good veteran group, so we’ll be better.”Campbell allowed four goals on 11 shots before being replaced by Peter Budaj against the Senators.“We’ve got to do a lot better job of not making (Campbell) face those types of quality chances, especially on the road in a big game,” Kings coach John Stevens said. “You regroup and you go again. I didn’t like the way those goals were scored. The pucks that we turned over that end up in the back of the net — we had bodies around our net that had position on us, and we had pucks on top that got through to the net. Those are all, to me, mental things that you can make a difference in if manage them in the right place.”The Kings’ power play remains 0-for-18 for the season despite adding Ilya Kovalchuk.“I thought we got some momentum, but you’ve got to score goals,” Kings center Anze Kopitar said. “But I think we took a step in the right direction.”There is not much wrong with Toronto’s power play, which is 8-for-17 on the season. Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly has six assists in man-advantage situations.Rielly earned his 10th assist overall of the season Saturday on Matthews’ third-period goal. Rielly also has three goals and has had at least one point in six consecutive games. He is the third defenseman in NHL history to record at least 13 points in his team’s first six games of the season. The others were Harry Cameron with the 1917-18 Toronto Arenas (nine goals and six assists) and Paul Reinhart of the 1989-90 Vancouver Canucks (five goals, nine assists). The Maple Leafs will try to keep their early-season success going, but also know that the Kings will be determined to make up for their loss Saturday.“Obviously, L.A. will be ready to go, and we’ll have to get prepared,” Babcock said after the game in Washington. “We feel good, we’ll feel good on the way home and it’s nice to have an off-day (Sunday) after a win Tom Kuhnhackl Jersey Womens , but we’ve got to get back at ‘er.” RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Penguins traded hits — and, occasionally, goals — during an intense game with a decided playoff feel.Because the Hurricanes found a way to rally for a victory, they moved closer to finally earning some real playoff games.Dougie Hamilton scored in the shootout after Justin Williams scored the tying goal with 1:56 left in regulation, leading the Hurricanes past the Penguins 3-2 on Tuesday night.“The fun part is, we’re playing playoff hockey,” Williams said, “and it hasn’t started yet.”Petr Mrazek stopped all three Pittsburgh shooters in the tiebreaker, and Brock McGinn also scored for the Hurricanes. They won their fourth in five games and earned an important two points in the tight Eastern Conference playoff race — and perhaps just as important, prevented the Penguins from picking up a second point.Carolina, which remained in wild-card position and moved two points behind Pittsburgh for third place in the Metropolitan Division, has the NHL’s longest active postseason drought and is seeking its first playoff berth since 2009.“It’s not like a normal day. We all know where Pittsburgh is, where we are” in the standings, Mrazek said. “Everybody’s trying to push hard, and finish checks hard on the ice and play a 60-minute game.”Jake Guentzel had a goal and an assist, Kris Letang scored a late goal Anthony Beauvillier Jersey Womens , Bryan Rust had two assists and Matt Murray made 37 saves for the Penguins, who have earned points in nine of their last 10 games against divisional opponents. But they’ve also lost three straight, the last two coming in either overtime or the shootout after a late lead slipped away. Two nights earlier, Pittsburgh took a 2-1 OT loss to Philadelphia after allowing the Flyers to score the tying goal with 18 seconds left in regulation.“We like to believe that we can defend leads better,” coach Mike Sullivan said. “We have in the past, and been very good at it. So I know we’re capable.”Letang, in his first game back from an upper-body injury that sidelined him for 11 games, seemingly put the game on ice for the Penguins with his 3-on-1 goal with 4:37 left in regulation. But — with Mrazek pulled — Williams put in the rebound of Hamilton’s late shot to tie it at 2.Letang took a 2-minute minor for slashing Sebastian Aho with 2:04 left in overtime, then also received a 10-minute misconduct for voicing his objection to that call. But the Hurricanes couldn’t make them pay, with Jack Johnson blocking Aho’s late shot into an open net.Hamilton scored in the first round of the shootout, and Mrazek took over after that, stopping Phil Kessel, Sidney Crosby and finally Guentzel to end it. He finished with 36 saves and has won seven of his last eight starts.“He’s phenomenal. He’s a gamer, right?” Williams asked rhetorically. “I love his enthusiasm in there. As a player on the bench when he makes a big save and he gets all jacked up like that, that gets you going. He’s in your corner and he’s a great guy to have there.”McGinn broke a scoreless tie — and scored Carolina’s first home goal against the Penguins this season — with 10:22 left in the second, snapping the puck past Murray after taking a slick pass from Justin Faulk. That lead lasted only 38 seconds: Guentzel took a feed from Crosby in the slot and blasted the puck past Mrazek for his fourth goal in six games.NOTES: Carolina D Lucas Wallmark rang the crossbar late in the first. … Penguins RW Phil Kessel skated in his 320th consecutive game to break the club record set by Craig Adams from 2009-14.UP NEXTPenguins: Play at Nashville on Thursday night.Hurricanes: Continue their five-game homestand Thursday night against Tampa Bay.

Both teams were sent to their dressing rooms at 17:50 as the ice crew worked to repair a broken pane of glass in the Senators’ end. RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have skated their way out of being tied for last place into playoff contention — all in just six weeks. They have been the NHL’s best team since Dec. 30, going 14-5-1 in that stretch while making an improbable push to snap the league’s longest active postseason drought. The Hurricanes entered Thursday night’s games three points out of a playoff spot with 25 games remaining, a stretch run that starts Friday night when Edmonton visits.“The important thing is, playoff teams get it,” captain Justin Williams said Thursday. “We’re doing what’s necessary right now. We know where we are. All we need to do is keep winning and not worry about what’s going on above us.”As much progress as the Hurricanes have made lately, there’s still so much further to go to reach the postseason for the first time since 2009 and only the second time since winning the Stanley Cup in 2006.Not long ago, they seemed destined to set an NHL record for futility by going 10 straight seasons without making the playoffs. And they still might. But at least for now, they’ve made things interesting. They were tied with New Jersey and Philadelphia for last in the division on Dec. 30 with 35 points, and were one point better than Ottawa for last in the Eastern Conference. In a relatively short period of time, though Mike Smith Jersey , the Hurricanes have figured things out and have become pretty tough to beat. They’ve earned 29 points in that time span, one more than the New York Islanders and two more than St. Louis. And most recently, they went 4-1 on a five-game road trip. The last time that happened was in 1998, when PNC Arena was still under construction and the Hurricanes were playing their home games in Greensboro.“It was a big road trip, and we’re doing what we need to do right now,” Williams said, “which is banking wins and seeing what happens.”The offense appears to have found its scoring touch, with an NHL-best 76 goals over that 20-game span. Sebastian Aho has 25 points — nine goals, 16 assists — during the team’s hot streak while linemate Teuvo Teravainen has 22 — nine goals, 13 assists. And Nino Niederreiter has fit right in with his new team, racking up 10 points in 11 games since he was acquired from Minnesota in a trade for Victor Rask. And with the league’s trading deadline Feb. 25 Artemi Panarin Jersey , the big question remains whether the Hurricanes will be buyers or sellers.Micheal Ferland, acquired in a blockbuster offseason trade with Calgary, is due to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, so naturally, trade rumors have surrounded him. But it might be worth it to Carolina to keep the hard-hitting forward with 15 goals and 16 assists for the stretch run — and perhaps try to sign him to a contract extension.“I’d like to get a deal done, obviously,” Ferland said. “We’ve put ourselves in a good spot, trying to get into the playoffs. I’d like to stay here and help this team.”

ST. PAUL Erik Karlsson Jersey Womens , Minn. (AP) — the Minnesota Wild’s streak of six straight postseason appearances took a hit when captain Mikko Koivu tore the ACL and meniscus in his right knee .For the 35-year-old Koivu, who has never advanced past the Western Conference semifinals and has just a 16-39 record with the Wild in the playoffs, this severe late-career injury was a most unwelcome development even for a determined, intense player like him.For the Wild, the absence of their second-line center and best defensive forward will be impossible to cover up.For general manager Paul Fenton it created an unexpected complication to an already unclear picture about how to approach the NHL trade deadline on Feb. 25. Is this a postseason-caliber team, with the opportunity to make some noise in a tournament that’s one of the most unpredictable in sports? Or are the Wild bound for mid-April vacations and a higher-than-usual draft pick? Throughout his first season on the job, well, Fenton has acknowledged his own uncertainty.Should he try to buy and bring in a veteran center for the final push? Or start selling to restock the prospect pool? Stay tuned was Fenton’s answer to that question on Thursday morning, before the Wild hosted Edmonton.“I’m going to watch them play here a little bit. I actually have meetings with our staff to talk about where we are and how we are going forward here,” Fenton said. “I’m not trying to be mysterious. You guys watch our team as much and you look at the standings. Everybody is in it. It isn’t like we can say ‘Yes,’ or ‘No Patrick Maroon Jersey Womens ,’ or ‘You’re definitely in,’ or ‘You’re definitely out.’ It’s going to be a dogfight right to the end.”The Wild entered play Thursday in fourth place in the Central Division and in control of the first wild card spot, with one game in hand and a three-point lead on Vancouver. They haven’t produced a winning streak longer than three games since a five-game run that ended on Oct. 29, and in the first three games this month out of their bye week they snagged just two of six points.“It’s an opportunity for somebody else to step up and to make their mark,” Fenton said. The recently acquired Victor Rask will move up one line. Joel Eriksson Ek, who was recalled from the AHL after Koivu was hurt at Buffalo on Tuesday night, also will be heavily relied on.“We’re really going to miss Mikko, because he might be the best player this franchise has ever seen,” coach Bruce Boudreau said. “But if you sit and pout and go, ‘Woe is me,’ you’re going to be all done.”Koivu, who will have surgery Friday Tyler Bozak Jersey Womens , did not speak to reporters. Fenton declined to speculate on his readiness for training camp in September, but the typical recovery timeline for an ACL would put his availability for the 2019-20 season opener in doubt. That’s the final year on Koivu’s contract, with a $5.5 million salary cap hit.In the meantime, his defense will unquestionably be missed the most.“That’s my favorite part of his game,” goalie Devan Dubnyk said.Koivu missed just three or fewer games in eight of his first 13 seasons in the NHL. This one will be his career low for a non-lockout schedule.“I’m sure there’s a lot of teams in the league that play against this team that are thinking that, ‘Finally, we don’t have to play against that weight and size that he brings to the game,’ because he’s a very competitive guy,” Oilers coach Ken Hitchcock said. “I’ve seen him wear down a lot of good centers.” CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — St. Louis goalie Jake Allen rebounded at the Calgary Flames‘ expense.Pulled after allowing four first period goals in home loss to Calgary last Sunday and after giving up another four goals Thursday in a loss at Vancouver, Allen made 28 saves in the Blues’ 3-1 victory over the Flames on Saturday.“We rebounded really well against a really good team here in Calgary, probably one of the hottest teams in the league Chad Johnson Jersey Womens ,” Allen said. “They kicked our butt pretty good in our own rink a couple weeks ago. It’s just going to be a good feeling now to have a couple days off.”David Perron had a goal and an assist, and Tyler Bozak and Oskar Sundqvist also scored to help St. Louis finish 2-1-0 on their trip through Western Canada. Perron has nine goals and 11 assists in 16 games against Calgary since the start of the 2014-15 season.“It’s definitely coming for sure,” Blues coach Craig Berube said. “This team has really good character. We’ve got some veterans who have been around a while. They know how to win.”Matthew Tkachuk scored his 16th goal for Calgary. The Flames have lost three straight. Calgary lost for the first time in regulation at home since Nov. 15, ending a 7-0-2 string.“Just because we played well against a guy a couple days ago, doesn’t mean it’s going to automatically translate into today’s game,” Tkachuk said. “Maybe had it in the back of our minds that if we shot everything, some would go in, but I think we need to get more bodies (to the net).”St. Louis opened the scoring 4:06 into the game. Perron gloved down a puck that had deflected high in the air and wristed a shot from inside 20 feet that beat goalie Mike Smith on the short-side. The Blues made it 2-0 at 11:43 when Bozak chipped in a rebound after Pat Maroon curled out from behind the net and had his initial shot stopped. The Flames scored with 3:11 left in the first. On their first power play of the day, they needed just seven seconds to convert with Tkachuk steering in a centering feed from Elias Lindholm. The Blues got some insurance two minutes into the third. A dominant first period and a three-goal lead had the Florida Panthers feeling a little too good about cruising toward their first victory of the season.“You feel comfortable Duncan Keith Jersey , but I think we can’t feel too comfortable,” forward Jonathan Huberdeau said. The Panthers blew that lead and allowed the tying goal with 85 seconds left in regulation before Huberdeau scored the shootout winner to beat the Washington Capitals 6-5 on Friday night and end a four-game season-opening skid.Huberdeau and Vincent Trocheck each had a goal and two assists and scored in the shootout to give Florida a badly-needed boost.“We needed to get into the win column,” Trocheck said. “We definitely needed that win and, hopefully, the floodgates will open now.”Florida has been a team of floodgates this season, scoring and allowing three consecutive goals for the second game in a row. This time, they went from a 1-all tie to up 4-1 on goals by Evgenii Dadonov, Colton Sceviour and Jared McCann and lost it when Washington’s Brett Connolly, Jakub Vrana and Devante Smith-Pelly all beat James Reimer in a span of less than 12 minutes. In a wacky, back-and-forth game that became a battle of backup goaltenders, the Panthers got the one or two saves and the production they needed to get over the hump. Michael Hutchinson stopped 10 of the 11 shots he faced in regulation and overtime and made a couple of more saves in the shootout, and shootout goals by captain Aleksander Barkov http://www.officialblackhawksproshop.com/authentic-adidas-gustav-forsling-jersey , Trocheck and Huberdeau sent them home happy.“It’s a sense of relief, for sure,” said Huberdeau, who scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal with 50.2 seconds left in the second period that gave Florida a 5-4 lead. “Being so close every game to get a win, now we finally got it, the first one.”The first one could have come in regulation, but Nicklas Backstrom scored a 6-on-4 goal on the power play with backup Pheonix Copley pulled for the extra attacker and 1:25 left in the third. Getting to overtime allowed the defending Stanley Cup champions to salvage a point from a rough, inconsistent effort.“We were like two different teams the first period and then the rest of the game after that,” Capitals center Lars Eller said. “There was a lot of good stuff and some bad stuff we’ve got to correct.”Washington starter Braden Holtby got the hook after allowing four goals on 11 shots in the first period, including Trocheck’s 9:11 in that went in off Eller’s skate. Much like that goal, Holtby was hardly to blame as the victim of some inexplicable turnovers by his teammates. The move to Copley to start the second and some line-shuffling by coach Todd Reirden sparked the Capitals, who beat Reimer four times on 20 shots to send him to the bench. Copley stopped 18 of 19 shots to help the comeback John Hayden Jersey , which was as much a sign of the Panthers’ maddening up-and-down play as anything else.“That snowball effect again — we got rolling and shot ourselves in the foot a little bit,” Florida coach Bob Boughner said. “But we found a way to win tonight. We talked about winning the first game and how good it’s going to feel, get the monkey off our back a little bit. Now I think we can move ahead. It would’ve been tough losing that game.”NOTES: Panthers D Mark Pysyk left the game in the second period with an upper-body injury after taking a hit from Alex Ovechkin and did not return. The Penguins also won at Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary.DeSmith’s previous shutout came on April 26 against Ottawa.Phil Kessel also scored for Pittsburgh, which has just one loss in regulation this season.“They’ve got some world-class players that can score if you give them the chance Authentic Jonathan Toews Jersey ,” Canucks coach Travis Green said.Jacob Markstrom stopped 30 shots for Vancouver. He kept the Canucks in the game with several clutch saves, including in the first period when he sprawled to turn away a rocket from Malkin with his left skate.Still, the goaltender wasn’t happy with his performance.“No, 5-0 on the board, you can’t be happy,” Markstrom said. “It’s a 60-minute game. You’ve got to play good all 60.”Pittsburgh opened the scoring midway through the second period, following a patient move by Olli Maatta. The defenseman had been waiting for a chance at the point and fired a shot that bounced off Markstrom’s pads. Kessel sneaked around the back of the net and found the rebound, banging it in for his seventh goal of the season, which leads the Penguins.Kessel played in his 255th consecutive game for Pittsburgh, surpassing Malkin for the franchise record.Crosby scored later in the period, collecting the puck in front and sending a backhand past Markstrom.Malkin’s goals came 59 seconds apart in the third. Less than a minute later, Malkin again found the puck in front and sliced it in past Markstrom. He has four goals and 11 assists in his last seven games.Crosby capped the scoring with just more than two minutes left, firing in a shot from the side of the net. The Penguins’ captain has five goals and three assists during a four-game scoring streak.NOTES: Boeser and 19-year-old rookie center Elias Pettersson returned from injuries for Vancouver. Boeser had missed two games with a groin injury, while Pettersson had been sidelined with a concussion since Oct. 13. Boeser has six points in 10 games, and Pettersson registered five goals and three assists in his first five NHL outings. Green had the pair skating together on a line with Nikolay Goldobin for much of the game.
