PORTLAND, Ore. -- Fresh off their surprising run in the playoffs, the Portland Trail Blazers have signed head coach Terry Stotts to a multi-year contract extension. Stotts led the Blazers to a 54-28 regular-season record, for the teams biggest improvement in team history. Portland made the playoffs for the first time since 2011, dispatching the Houston Rockets in six games, before falling to the San Antonio Spurs in five games in the Western Conference semifinals. The season wrapped up for the Blazers on Wednesday night with a 104-82 loss in San Antonio. "We werent expected to be in the position we were in the regular season. We werent expected to win the first round. So, it was a special year," Stotts said after the game. "I thought everyone of our stars had career yeears. Julian Love Womens Jersey. LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Clippers co-owner Shelly Sterling would remain close to the organization under terms of the pending sale to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, according to two individuals close to the negotiations. Dante Pettis 49ers Jersey . The individuals, who are not authorized to speak publicly, told The Associated Press the $2 billion deal allows for up to 10 per cent of the team -- or $200 million -- to be spun off into a charitable foundation that Shelly Sterling would essentially run. The deal was negotiated by Shelly Sterling after husband Donald Sterlings racist remarks to a girlfriend were publicized and the NBA moved to oust him as team owner. One of the individuals said Shelly Sterling and Ballmer would be co-chairs of the foundation. The individuals said the foundation would target underprivileged families, battered women, minorities and inner city youths. "To benefit those on the receiving end of Donalds rather abhorrent remarks," one individual said. The idea to allow Shelly to continue some role was floated early on by her attorney, Pierce ODonnell -- neither he nor Shelly Sterling responded to a request for comment -- and it was enthusiastically agreed to by the NBA. "The NBA was all over it in terms of support," one of the individuals said. "It gave her a meaningful role and stake in the team, and gave the NBA 100 per cent sale of the team." However, the NBA made clear she wouldnt be involved with the basketball franchise. "It is not accurate that Mrs. Sterling will have a role with the Clippers or stake in the team," NBA spokesman Mike Bass said. Donald Sterlings attorney, Maxwell Blecher, did not comment. But its unclear if this deal will ever materialize as Donald Sterling still had not signed off on the deals terms because the NBA would not agree to revoke its $2.5 million fine and lifetime ban, according to one of the individuals. Sterling had agreed to sell the team Wednesday and drop his $1 billion federal lawsuit against the NBA assuming "all their differences had been resolved." But now hes considering continuing the suit after being told by intermediaries the NBA wont budge on the punishments doled out by Commissioner Adam Silver after Sterlings racist comments were publicized. Donald Sterlings consent to his wifes potentially record-breaking $2 billion deal was the first sign of an end to weeks of uncertainty. The NBAs owners must approve the deal. Donald Sterlings comments to V. Stiviano included telling her to not bring black people to Clippers games, specifically mentioning Hall of Famer Magic Johnson. They resulted in a storm of outrage from the public and players and even prompted President Barack Obama to comment on what he called Sterlings "incredibly offensive racist statements." Silver ultimately decided to ban Donald Sterling for life and began efforts to force Sterling to sell the team. Donald Sterlings federal lawsuit alleges that the league violated his constitutional rights by relying on information from an "illegal" recording that publicized racist remarks he made to a girlfriend. It also said the league committed a breach of contract by fining Sterling $2.5 million and that it violated antitrust laws by trying to force a sale. For weeks, Donald Sterling said through his attorneys that hed fight the NBAs attempt to oust him as a team owner. But last week Shelly Sterling utilized her authority as sole trustee of The Sterling Family Trust, which owns the Clippers, to take bids for the team and ultimately negotiate a deal with Ballmer. Under the deal Shelly Sterling would also get the title of "owner emeritus" and be entitled to continuing perks such as floor seats, additional seats at games and parking. One of the individuals said the deal also includes conditions that allow Ballmer to buy back the 10 per cent portion of the team for a pre-designated price upon Shelly Sterlings death. "All the proceeds go to charity, its not going to go to her," an individual said. "Shes walking away with a $2 billion check. Thats enough for her." Steve Young Womens Jersey . This week, topics cover the World Series champion Red Sox, John Farrell and what to look forward to this off-season.SAN FRANCISCO -- With only a handful of wins over the past two years, the Colorado Rockies have grown to loathe their annual visits to AT&T Park. A five-run ninth inning against Giants closer Sergio Romo might just change how manager Walt Weisss club views its road trips to San Francisco. D.J. LeMahieu hit a tiebreaking single after going hitless in his first three at-bats, and the Rockies rallied to beat the Giants 7-4 on Friday night. "Its a tough place to play, not only for us but for everybody," said Weiss, whose club had dropped 15 of 18 at the Giants waterfront ballpark. "The Giants are always tough at home. To win a game like that, not only the first game of the series but the way we won it, (is) big for our club." The Rockies had gone five straight innings without a hit before scoring five times off Romo (3-2), who went into the night tied for most saves in the majors. Troy Tulowitzki had a leadoff single, but was replaced by Charlie Culberson after injuring his foot reaching first base. After Justin Morneau singled, Romo retired Wilin Rosario on a fly to centre field. He then intentionally walked Corey Dickerson to load the bases. Pinch-hitter Ryan Wheeler hit a two-run single before LeMahieus soft single to centre drove in Dickerson. "(Romo) does such a good job of keeping the ball down," Wheeler said. "Even the pitch I hit, I think it was a ball. I hit the barrel and it went up the middle." Michael McKenry added an RBI single off George Kontos, and LeMahieu scored while McKenry was caught in a rundown between first and second. Matt Belisle (1-2) pitched one inning for the win, and LaTroy Hawkins worked the ninth for his 12th save. "This team knows what to do and we continue to hold each other accountable, but you still have to get it done," Belisle said. "Tonight, thats what happened." The Rockies had to overcome an injuury-shortened night by starter Jorge De La Rosa. San Francisco 49ers Jerseys. The left-hander, who had lost his previous two starts, was forced out of the game after the third inning due to tightness in his lower back. The Rockies bailed him out with their huge ninth, marking the eighth time this season Colorado has won in its final at-bat. "They found a way to find the holes," Romo said following his third blown save this season. "I have no explanation for that other than it was their night. I felt fine. I needed a groundball and it didnt work out." Up to that point, Weiss team hadnt done much. Tim Lincecum worked six solid innings for San Francisco. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner allowed three hits and two runs, retiring his final 10 batters. Three relievers combined to shut out Colorado over the next two innings before Romos collapse in the ninth. Morneau finished with two hits, the only Rockies player with multiple hits. De La Rosa struggled even before his back acted up. He had to strike out Lincecum to escape a bases-loaded jam in the second, then gave up a leadoff double to Angel Pagan in the third. After Hunter Pences RBI single, De La Rosa retired the next two batters but threw one pitch to Michael Morse before summoning team trainers and Weiss to the mound. Umpires allowed De La Rosa to make a few warmup pitches before Morse hit a tying single. Morse also doubled off Tommy Kahnle in the fifth, and Pence doubled and scored on a wild pitch by Chris Martin in the seventh. NOTES: C Rosario got hit in the face by a ball he fouled off that hit the ground and bounced straight up in the second inning. A team trainer came out to check on Rosario, who stayed in the game. ... Colorado RHP Christian Bergman (0-1) will make his second major league start on Saturday. The rookie allowed two runs in six innings in his pro debut on Monday. RHP Ryan Vogelsong (4-3) pitches for San Francisco. ' ' '

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. William Perry Womens Jersey . -- The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to let veteran running back Maurice Jones-Drew test free agency. General manager Dave Caldwell said Tuesday that Jones-Drew has "earned the right" to enter the market in March. Caldwell added that the Jaguars would decide whether to match or beat another teams offer. "This is his first time, hes been a great player in this organization, hes had a great career and hes earned the right to see what his value and his market is," Caldwell said. "And its our right to decide if we want to match it and bring him back. I think thats kind of where were at now." Jones-Drew, a second-round draft pick in 2006, has 8,071 yards rushing and 68 touchdowns in eight seasons. He missed the final 10 games last season with a left foot injury and played much of this season while recovering from surgery and dealing with a strained right hamstring. The running back made it clear Monday that he wants to stay in Jacksonville, but said his decision is all about money. He just played out a five-year, $31 million contract. The deal paid him $4.95 million in 2013. Jones-Drew also acknowledged Monday that he has a number in mind, but he sounded resigned to a potential move. "Hopefully I can stay here, but thats not up to me," he said. "Its time to sit back with my family and talk and see whats best for us. I have three kids, dont want to move them around, but if thats the case, then it has to be done. Well see. There are some other variables." Last year, the free-agent market for running backs was relatively soft. Detroits Reggie Bush (4 years, $16 million), Atlantas Steven Jackson (3 years, $12 million), Buffalos Fred Jackson (3 years, $10.8 million) and Tennessees Shonn Green (3 years, $10 million) failed to land huge deals in the open market. Jones-Drew certainly will want at least something similar, if not better. Then again, hes coming off one of his worst seasons. He ran for 803 yards and five touchdowns in 2013. Critics argue that Jones-Drew, who turns 29 in March, has lost a step and hasnt been the same since gaining 1,606 yards on 343 carries in 2011. They also insist his running style -- he welcomes contact and gains most of his yards between the tackles -- will shorten his career. Others, including Jones-Drew, believe he will return to Pro Bowl form once he fully recovers from his foot injury. They also point to this being his first season running behind a zone-blocking scheme and that he lost both starting offensive tackles early in the year. Caldwell, though, sounded like the team is ready to move in another direction. "I think we need to upgrade," Caldwell said. "Were always looking to upgrade all positions. Step 2 is to raise that standard of acceptance, and we do have to address that. We always have to have a contingency plan in place for all positions." David Montgomery Bears Jersey . Terms of the deal werent disclosed. Leinart fills an immediate need at Buffalos injury-depleted quarterback position. The Bills later added quarterback Thaddeus Lewis in a trade that sent linebacker Chris White to Detroit. Undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel also is on the roster. Kevin Kolb left the Bills game Saturday against Washington because of concussion-like symptoms and first-round pick EJ Manuel is out for the rest of the preseason with a left knee injury. Leinart, the 2004 Heisman Trophy at Southern California, was drafted by Arizona in the first round in 2006. After four seasons with the Cardinals, he spent 2011 with Houston and last year with Oakland. Lewis spent the last two seasons with Cleveland. He started the Browns 2012 regular-season finale against Pittsburgh, completing 22 of 32 passes for 204 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Kolb was injured in the first quarter when he was kneed in the helmet following an 8-yard scramble. Anthony Miller Womens Jersey. Coach Doug Marrone said it was too soon to determine how much time Kolb could miss. The injury-prone quarterback has had issues with concussions in the past, having sustained two in his first six seasons. After releasing Tarvaris Jackson earlier in the off-season, the Bills hoped Kolb and Manuel would compete for the starting job at training camp but injuries have gotten in the way. Kolb missed more than a week of camp after injuring his left knee on Aug. 3. Kolb was hurt when he tripped on a wet rubber mat between practice fields. Manuel appeared well on his way toward earning the job before he sustained a left knee injury of his own in Buffalos second preseason game. Manuel has not been ruled out for Buffalos season opener and the Bills are optimistic regarding his return. He had what the team referred to only as a "minor procedure" after injuring his knee. WINNIPEG -- Theres no doubt in rookie head coach Mike OSheas mind who the Winnipeg Blue Bombers starting quarterback is. Tyler Lydon Nuggets Jersey . The Bombers unveiled newcomer Drew Willy on Friday, a day after acquiring the young quarterback from the Saskatchewan Roughriders. And OShea immediately named Willy as his starter. "You see a guy who has been tutored by some good coaches," said OShea. "Hes ready for this." Winnipeg has two other quarterbacks on its roster -- Max Hall and Justin Goltz. And although Willy has made just four career CFL starts, OShea believes his time has come. "Its important to this franchise to have a quarterback and a guy that everybody can believe in.," OShea said. Willy, 27, played two seasons behind Darian Durant with the Roughriders. He said he prides himself on his passing accuracy and feels comfortable in all situations but also expects to learn by doing. "Being behind a guy like Darian Durant you learn a lot," he said. "Ive learned from George Cortez, you learn a ton. Obviously Ive had Khari Jones in my ear the last two years as well." Cortez is Saskatchewans offensive co-ordinator. Jones was the clubs quarterback coach in 2012 and 2013, before becoming the B.C. Lions offensive co-ordinator. "Its something for the fans and for the coaching staff, the management, to be excited about," OShea said of Willys signing. The Bombers are in dire need of a starter who can win games and fill seats at their new stadium. The club posted a 3-15 record last season that tied a modern franchise record for futility. The Bombers approached free agents Zach Collaros and Henry Burris. But Collaros signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats while Burris joined the expansion Ottawa Redblacks. Winnipeg GM Kyle Walters denied Willy was necessarily third on the Bombers list but also didnt rule out adding another quarterback to the roster. "Were always looking to improve our team, free agency trades . . . well explore all options all the time to improve our team and promote competition at every position," he said. But Walters had nothing but praise for the young quarterback theyre hanging their hopes on right now. "Pocket awareness, toughness, what drew put on film showed that hes ready to be a starting quarterback in this league," he said. Willy started two games in 2013, going 1-1. He earned his first career CFL win as a rookie, a come-from behind win at Winnipeg in the Banjo Bowl. He finished 17-of-23 passing for 188 yards and a touchdown while also running for another. Willy played at the University of Buffalo where he was the most prolific passer in school history, setting records for completions (849), attempts (1,322), passing yards (8,748), touchdowns (52), total offence (8,639), and completion percentage (64.2). He also spent some time in the NFL on practice squads in Indianapolis, Baltimore, San Diego, and New York and played in the UFL with Las Vegas in 2010. Custom Denver Nuggets Jerseys . After falling 5-0 on home ice in a game that could have tied them for second in the wild card standings, Washington head coach Adam Oates had some strong words for Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin. LONDON, Ont. -- So Yeon Ryu pulled away from the pack at the Canadian Pacific Womens Open with a second straight bogey-free round. Ryu shot a 6-under 66 Friday at London Hunt and Country Club to get to 15 under, the best two-round start in the tournaments history and five strokes ahead of fellow South Korean Na Yeon Choi, playing partner Anna Nordqvist and Danielle Kang. "A lot of birdies is still a good sign, but no bogeys is more (of) a great sign because it means I play really consistent and when I was in trouble I handled it pretty well," she said. "Thats my goal. I aim for the bogey-free round all four days." If Ryu keeps it up over the weekend, shell have a good chance at winning her first tournament since the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic in 2012. With eight top-10 finishes this year, including a tie for fifth at the U.S. Womens Open, she hasnt been far off. Even amid her victory drought, Ryu tries not to complain or worry. "Im happy to be just travelling all around the world," she said. "Im really happy to show my golf swing and my golf game to all golf fans. The thing is to not really think about the result thing. Im playing golf and Im happy." Ryu "absolutely" is happier when playing the kind of golf she has over the past couple of days. She returned to the same local restaurant, Izakaya Shogun Japanese Sushi & Grill, Thursday night that she had dinner at with South Korean teammates the previous day -- for takeout this time -- and said shed have to think about it again before her third round. Whatever Ryu is eating, the rest of the field will have what shes having. "So Yeon is probably making everything she looks at," said Cristie Kerr, the champion the last time this tournament was in London back in 2006, who shot a 4-under 68 Friday to get to 9 under. American Brittany Lincicome, who was a runner-up to Inbee Park at last weeks LPGA Championship, had the best round of the day with a 65 to move to 8 under. Lincicome said her confidence level was "really high." "I felt really confident when I stepped on the first hole," she said. "It was a very smooth day and it was nice to get some putts to fall." Joining Lincicome at 8 under were Lizette Salas, Lindsey Wright, Mi Hyang Lee and Xi Yu Lin. Four Canadians were among the 87 players who made the cut: Jennifer Kirby of Paris, Ont., at 5 under and amateurs Brooke Henderson of Smithss Falls, Ont. Malik Beasley Jersey. and Jennifer Ha of Calgary at 3 under and Sue Kim of Langley, B.C., at 1 under. The other 11 in the field finished at even or over par to miss. Henderson had missed the cut in this tournament in her two previous appearances but is now 4 for 4 making the cut in LPGA Tour events this year. But she wasnt satisfied despite shooting a 71. "Honestly, today, I couldve easily been five-under," Henderson said. "I had so many opportunities for birdie inside 10 feet and just didnt capitalize on them." Nordqvist felt the same way playing with Ryu but struggling with her putter. "I was trying to keep up with her on the greens," the Swede said. "I played really well today, too, and I couldnt seem to make any putts. ... Its a bit frustrating, but she played really well and I try to feed off her." One of the last players to tee off Friday, Kang saw Ryus 15 under and didnt let it bother her. Instead, she watched the leaderboard with delight thinking about what she can do on this course. "That tells me that there are birdies out there," said Kang, who borrowed defending champion and friend Lydia Kos ball marker after forgetting her own. "You just got to go by the scoreboard, the scoreboard tells you everything you need to know." Like a lot of players, Choi wasnt focused on others performances before she teed off. The 2012 U.S. Womens Open champion also took a different approach Thursday night after shooting a 64, going shopping and to the movie theatre to see "Into the Storm." "I just tried to relax," Choi said. "Always when I think about too much golf, even off the golf course, it sometimes gives me a lot of stress." Choi stressed about her driver after shooting a 70 Friday to tie Nordqvist for second. Its her hope that fixing a left hook in her swing can help her stay in the hunt. Kang, a 21-year-old from San Francisco, is in contention and feeling confident going into the weekend. "Theres a lot of people contending, and theres a lot of birdies out there and everyones shooting low, so youve just got to keep making birdies," she said. Notes -- American Jessica Korda had a hole-in-one on the eight, drilling an 8 iron from 147 yards from the tee. She shot a 70 to get to 4 under through two rounds. ... Organizers waived the $10 parking fee for the weekend to encourage more fans to come out to the course. ' ' '

Bayern were knocked out in the last four of the competition by Atletico Madrid on away goals, despite a 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday. It means Guardiola will leave to join Manchester City this summer having lost three semi-finals to Spanish opposition during his time in Bavaria after defeats to Real Madrid and Barcelona previously. Philipp Lahm, Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery show their disappointment on Tuesday night The Catalan coach said he was not concerned with his track record after the defeat to Atletico, and Koehler hailed Guardiola as incredible, but said it would be remembered that he came up short in Europe.I was talking in the last couple of hours to the fans and, okay, there is still disappointment here but Pep Guardiola has done great work here, Koehler told Sky Sports News HQ. As a manager he developed the team to a really top, top level. Guardiolas Bayern were knocked out at the semi-final stage of the Champions League three years in a row Pep Guardiola is an incredible manager but maybe sometimes the players were confused about all his decisions. Sometimes, maybe, he makes it too complicated, the easy game is not his game. One game he changed the tactics four times but at the end he won.He put Bayern, game-wise, at the really top level and, after the three years he has spent here, at a financial level, Bayern are also top and his reputation is incredible. Guardiola will leave Bayern to join Manchester City in the summer You can feel it here at the training ground; it is not only the players and it is not only the bosses, it is also the supporters who came out here to watch the training and you feel it, he said. The disappointment is very big because it was so painful to lose and Bayern were the much better team and this was the change to the other two failures in the last two years when they didnt advance to the final. Bayern cheated by Atleti exit Bayern Munich feel cheated after Champions League exit, says Karl-Heinz Rummenigge Pep Guardiola is a guy who thinks too much. He changes his mind, Im sure, three days in a row thinking about the right tactics, what to do, what not to do and to leave him out in the first leg against Atletico Madrid was, for sure, not a good idea, he said. But on the other hand you lose 1-0 in an away game to Atletico then you still have a chance, this can happen in a semi-final of the Champions League. So there is still a chance you can turn it around and Bayern had their chance last night. Muller missed a penalty against Atletico Madrid Pep Guardiola will not be happy about it and it will be rated from the fans as not the best decision. Bayern now have to look forward, they still have a cup final against Borussia Dortmund, which will be really tough.I think Muller showed last night he cannot do everything. He didnt score the penalty, it would have been 2-0. It didnt happen and it was a great, exciting game but the disappointment here at Bayern Munichs ground is huge. INDIANAPOLIS -- Pacers coach Frank Vogel kept the game plan simple. Azzeddine Toufiqui Jersey . Make the extra pass, take care of the ball, play defence and get more out of his bench. The four-pronged approach worked. Danny Granger scored a season-high 16 points, Paul George and Lance Stephenson each added 15, and the Pacers plowed through some rough stretches to pull away from the Orlando Magic, 98-79 on Monday night. "I thought we came out with the right focus and the right fight," forward David West said. "We played hard, played together and got the W." Thats good enough for right now. The team with the NBAs best record came into the game with a 3-3 mark over its last six and seemed to be sliding after a series of slow starts forced it to fight its way back from large, early deficits. Even returning home after a five-game West Coast swing wasnt the fix. The Pacers (37-10) lost to Phoenix last Thursday, then had to overcome a season-high 24 turnovers Saturday to barely get past Brooklyn. On Monday, the Pacers looked like a different team. They started fast, committed only two turnovers in the first 21 1/2 minutes and led from start to finish. Perhaps that much should have been expected against the second-worst team in the league and the worst road team in the NBA. But it was still a tough night. West hurt his right ankle in the third quarter, backup centre Ian Mahinmi left with an injured right shoulder in the fourth and Indiana let Orlando (13-37) back into the game late in the first half before nearly giving all of its 16-point, first-half lead by starting the third quarter with 10 straight misses. The difference: The Pacers heeded their All-Star coachs advice and allowed a season-low 29 points in the second half. "Thats typical of us," Granger said. "You know we hang our hat on defence, and we really want that to carry us the whole way." Arron Afflalo led the Magic with 20 points but was shut out for the final 23:47. Nikola Vucevic added 16 points, getting only four over the final 19 minutes. The only other Orlando player to reach double figures was Tobias Harris, who finished with 11. Rookie Victor Oladipo finished with six points and tied a season high with 11 assists but was just 2 of 11 from the field in his second game back in his adopted home state. "They were just more active on their tags and disguising their defence," said Oladipo, who again started in place of injured point guard Jameer Nelson. "They just did a great job of making us take tough shots. Its something we need to learn from." The Pacers, meanwhile, stuck to the Vogel Plan. Granger, a former All-Star who has been working his way back from a strained left calf, broke out of his shooting slump. C.J. Watson had 12 points and Luis Scola added 10 as the Pacers bench combined for exactly half of Indianas total, a season best. Indianas two most prolific scorers did their thing, too. George started with seven points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists in the first quarter. Stephenson, the NBA leader with four triple-doubles, settled for 15 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. It looked as if the Pacers would blow out Orlando when they took a 55-39 lead midway through the second quarter. But the Magic closed the period on a 9-2 run, then watched the Pacers miss their first 10 shots in the third quarter as they crept back within two on Vucevics tip-in with 7:01 to go. Indianas defence then held tight until Stephenson ended the shooting drought with a circus jumper that banked in as he drew a foul on Oladipo. Stephenson made the free throw to give Indiana a 63-58 lead and the Magic never got another chance to tie it. The Pacers closed the third quarter on a 9-1 run to make it 75-63 and opened the fourth on a 11-1 spurt to put it away. "It goes back to passing," Granger said. "You know when once you move the ball, you get a lot more open shots. Weve been trying to do it by ourselves these last 10 or 12 games and our offence has been struggling. So we move the ball, we get layups, backdoor cuts, open 3s. That makes everybody look good." Four years after winning gold on home ice in Vancouver, the Canadians will get a chance to make it two in a row Sunday against Sweden after beating the United States 1-0 in the Olympic semifinals Friday at Bolshoy Ice Dome.SINGAPORE -- Panuphol Pittayarat of Thailand birdied two of his last three holes to maintain a one-stroke lead after the second round of The Championship at Laguna National on Friday. Panuphol, the overnight leader, shot a 4-under 68 for a two-round total of 13-under 131, a stroke ahead of Scott Hend of Australia, David Lipsky of the United States, and Felipe Aguilar of Chile in a tie for second place. The Thai, ranked 451st in the world, has never won on the European Tour and missed his last three cuts this year on the Asian Tour. "The two birdies in my last three holes were nice to end off my round," he said. "Its nice to be putting myself in a good position heading into the last two rounds. I would rather stay up there than to be chasing the lead actually. I just want to grab my chance and not let it go." Hend had eight birdies and just one bogey to shoot a 7-under 65, the low round of the day. The Australian, whos also looking for his first European Tour title, said it was difficult to stay focused in the hot, humid conditions at Singapores Laguna National golf course. "I am used to this kind of weather but it still comes to a point where your body just cannot take it and it makes you lose concentration,," he said. Loic Mbe Soh Jersey. "Im managing well so far. "(The wrist) doesnt bother me much, but I still have pain. It will be there for the next four or five months," he said. "Everything you do is dangerous so you have to be careful, but Im playing good golf because Im happy, and so the mountain biking helps." Anders Hansen is also returning from a wrist injury that required surgery and kept him off the tour for six months last year. He missed the cut at his first two events this year, but finished in a tie for fifth last week at the China Open. The Danish golfer shot a 66 on Friday to move into a share of fifth place at 11 under, two strokes off the pace. He dropped a stroke on his final hole when he three-putted for bogey. "Its always hard coming back after an injury," he said. "Ive never had six months off before so I didnt know what to expect. It was tough the first four rounds I played, the first two in Spain and Malaysia, but then last week something kicked in and it has carried on this week." ' ' '

After winning the Phoenix Open twice in a three-year span, J. Kostas Antetokounmpo Mavericks Jersey .B. Holmes was starting to make a name for himself on the PGA Tour. Thanks in part to his second victory at the greatest show on turf, Holmes made his first Ryder Cup team, and looked destined to be a long-standing member of U.S. international teams. That was all derailed when he began battling vertigo-like symptoms in the 2011 season. In his last three starts that year, he missed two cuts and had to withdraw from the PGA Championship. Shortly thereafter, Holmes was on the operating table undergoing brain surgery. He was diagnosed with structural defects in his cerebellum, or Chiari malformations. During the surgery, he had a quarter-sized piece of his skull removed. He came back and played a full season on the PGA Tour in 2012, but managed only two top-10 finishes, both of which came before the Masters. In March of last year, Holmes was roller-blading as part of his conditioning routine, but suffered an awkward fall in which he broke his left ankle. As he rehabbed that injury, Holmes decided it was time to go under the knife, again. This time, Holmes was going to have his troublesome left elbow fixed. Why not? He wasnt fully ready to come back to the tour anyway. Once the calendar changed to 2014, Holmes was ready to go. He waited until late January at the Farmers Insurance Open to make his debut. It has been a slow build to fully get back into game shape. He had more finishes outside the top 50 -- five -- than he had inside the top 20 -- four. However, all four of those top-20 finishes came in his last five starts before the Wells Fargo Championship. Entering the Wells Fargo, Holmes had shot par or better in 14 or his last 20 rounds, and that trend continued at Quail Hollow. Holmes shot 2-under 70 in the opening round, then went 11-under par in the middle two rounds to take the lead entering the final round. Coming down the stretch, he led by two and made the finish interesting. Jim Furyk sat two strokes back and had been in the clubhouse for nearly two hours. He started to pack his things while Holmes was on 18, but stopped when Holmes hit a poor chip shot. Needing to get down in two putts for the win, Holmes did just that to close out a 1-under 71. The win was his third on the PGA Tour. Among the biggest aspects of the victory for Holmes is that he now qualifies for all four majors. When he tees it up at Pinehurst for the U.S. Open next month, it will mark his first start in a major since that 2011 PGA Championship, which he had to withdraw from. Next spring, hell return to Augusta National for the Masters for the first time since 2008. He also moved himself into contention for a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team. Holmes did go 2-0-1 as a captains pick at the 2008 Ryder Cup, and not many Americans in line for this years team have winning records. Those things are far off at this point, but for Holmes to even be in that conversation is a huge victory by itself. Now that he is healthy, we are seeing what kind of player Holmes once was, and can be again. A word of warning, though. After Holmes other two wins, which were in February 2006 and February 2008, he posted only two more top-10 finishes in those seasons and both were in 08. The way Holmes is playing now, it isnt hard to see him bucking that trend the rest of this season. LPGAS BEST AMERICANS TOO HOT, TOO SOON? Whether it is the Solheim Cup, Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup, each teams captain wants her players to be playing their best heading into that event. Three potential U.S. Solheim Cup team members are off to scorching starts this year on the LPGA Tour. Stacy Lewis just earned her first win this past weekend in Texas, and that was her eighth top-10 finish in nine starts. Michelle Wie also has a win and six top-10s in nine events, while team stalwart Cristie Kerr has six top-10s in eight tournaments. Is it too much too soon? The Solheim Cup wont be played for another 16 months. Captain Juli Inkster has to be happy to see how well some of her potential team members are playing right now. The Americans suffered a crushing defeat last year at the Solheim Cup, and the players from that team, and those hoping to make the 2015 squad, want to make sure what happened last year doesnt happen again. Five of the 10 winners this year on the LPGA Tour have been Americans, while two wins were by a European, Anna Nordqvist. With many of the tours top players hailing from Asia, having Americans winning half of the tours events is a great start for the team. Lets just hope they can keep the momentum going. MINI-TIDBITS - Dont try to blame John Daly for slow play problems, whatever tour he may be playing on. Daly was the first out in the final round of the Web.com event last weekend, and played as a single. Daly cruised around in 2 hours, 21 minutes. There are twosomes that dont play nine holes that fast at some tournaments. - From the where-are-they-now category, we bring you the curious case of Anthony Kim. According to a Golf Channel report last week, Kim rarely plays golf anymore. Kim had three PGA Tour wins by the age of 25, but he hasnt been seen on tour since 2012. The 28-year-old battled wrist, forearm and elbow injuries before tearing his Achilles. We might never know how great he could have been had he stayed healthy. Steve Nash Mavericks Jersey . The Astros second baseman shied away from agreeing with his skipper. Instead, he kept up his impressive show. Altuve got three more hits and stole two bases Sunday as the Astros defeated the Detroit Tigers 6-4. Altuve finished the three-game series 9 for 14 and leads big leagues with 116 hits. Hes already stolen a career-high 36 bases -- he swiped second in the first inning, and set a franchise record with a steal in six straight games. "Ive seen some players locked in in all my years of playing," Porter said. "But the impact with which Jose Altuve is having on the baseball game, I would have to really sit down and think about or have some numbers put in front of me that would make me think that there is someone whos had more of an impact on a baseball game the way hes having an impact right now." Altuve took the compliment in stride, saying, "Hes my manager, he has to say that." "I have to be ready every game to get on base," he said. "I know the guys that I have behind me, if I get on base, something good is going to happen." Altuve became the third player since 1904 with four straight games with multiple steals, joining Ray Chapman in 1917 and Bill Dahlen in 1904, according information from the Elias Sports Bureau provided by the Astros. "Im going to try to keep getting on base, and if I have a chance to take the next base, I am going to do it," Altuve said. Scott Feldman (4-5) allowed two runs in six innings to earn his first win since May 26. Feldman, who snapped a personal three-game losing streak, has allowed three runs or less in each of his last three starts. "They have a great lineup," Feldman said. "I just tried to make some pitches. Luckily, a lot of the balls they hit hard were hit to centre field, where there is a lot of room out there." Matt Dominguez and Carlos Corporan had three hits apiece and L.J. Hoes and Jon Singleton each had two RBIs for the Astros, who have won three of their last four. Tony Sipp got the last four outs for his first save. Nick Castellanos had two hits for the Tigers, including a two-run triple in the eighth that cut the Astros lead to 5-4. Dallas Mavericks Jerseys. J.D. Martinez also had two hits, and Alex Avila hit a solo home run in the fifth. Tigers star Miguel Cabrera was 0 for 13 in the series, while Victor Martinez went 1 for 12. "Those are the guys we lean on," Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said. "They are going to have struggles. Its going to happen. They scuffled a little bit swinging the bat." The Astros scored three times in the first against Drew Smyly (4-7). Altuve singled, stole second and scored on George Springers double. Two batters later, Jesus Guzman hit an RBI single and scored on Hoes sacrifice fly. "I felt like that was very important," Porter said. "Losing the game the way we lost the game last night (4-3 in the ninth) I thought that our guys did a great job coming out setting the tempo. Ran the bases tremendously and just put a lot of pressure on the other team." After Torii Hunters RBI double cut the lead to 3-1 in the third, Hoes hit an RBI double in the bottom half. Singletons bases-loaded walk in the sixth scored Alex Presley to extend Houstons lead to 5-2, and he upped the lead to 6-4 in the eighth with an RBI single. Smyly, who was ill Saturday and sent back to the team hotel, was pulled after 2 1-3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. The outing was Smylys shortest as a starter this year and the most runs hes allowed since getting tagged for six on May 26 at Oakland. Smyly would not use being ill Saturday as an excuse for the poor outing. "Not a good day," Smyly said. "They came out swinging. I didnt bring it. They did." Rooneys latest piece of football genius lost in the furore which now stalks David Moyes, and the man who gave the Manchester United striker his start as a 16-year old at Goodison Park back in 2002. IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys decided one year with Monte Kiffin as defensive co-ordinator and Bill Callahan as play-caller was enough. Kiffin was demoted Tuesday in favour of defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, and Scott Linehan was hired as the passing game co-ordinator who will call plays. The staff shuffling -- the second in as many years -- comes after the Cowboys gave up the most yards in franchise history and finished last in the NFL in total defence and had their worst offensive output in yardage since 2005. "If you look at staffs around this league and rosters all around this league, theres change from year to year," Garrett told The Associated Press. "And the teams that embrace the change are the ones that have the most success and again we feel like from a system standpoint, the systems on offence and the systems on defence, remain in place." Kiffin and Marinelli came to Dallas together last year after the Cowboys fired defensive co-ordinator Rob Ryan and decided to switch to a four-man front with three linebackers following nearly a decade in the 3-4 defence. Quarterback Tony Romo will have his third play-caller in as many seasons after Garrett had that role in 2012. There was even a change in the middle of this past season when Garrett reinserted himself by relaying the calls from Callahan to Romo. "Its not really a concern at all," Garrett said. "Weve had the same offensive system in place here for seven years. We feel like the transition will be really relatively smooth for everybody." Garrett is entering the final season of his contract and is coming off three consecutive 8-8 seasons that extended the clubs playoff drought to four straight years. Garrett said Callahan will remain on staff in 2014, also the final year of his contract. He will keep his titles of offensive co-ordinator and offensive line coach. "Just like you would with a player, guys are always in roles that tend to evolve and change," Garrett said. "If you have the right kiind of guys on your team, they embrace those roles, understand the objective is to try to help our team first and foremost. Konstantinos Mavropanos Arsenal Jersey. Bill knows that." Linehan, the former St. Louis coach who was Detroits offensive co-ordinator the past five seasons, gave Garrett his first coaching job in the NFL in 2005 when he was offensive co-ordinator in Miami. Garrett was his quarterbacks coach that season. "He and I have a real comfort level with each other," Garrett said. "Philosophically, were on the same page. He has a comfort level with our system of football. The other thing hell bring is some new blood and some freshness to it." The Lions finished sixth or higher each of the past three years in total offence, while the Cowboys slipped to 16th, their lowest since 2002. While improving dramatically in takeaways on defence under Kiffin, the Cowboys gave up the first two 600-yard games in franchise history and surrendered 40 first downs for the first time in league history. Their 6,645 yards allowed were almost 1,000 more than the previous club record from 2012. Garrett said Kiffin, who will turn 74 next month, will serve more as a mentor who will "help coach coaches and coach players" after spearheading the transition to the 4-3 defence. Marinelli was Chicagos defensive co-ordinator for three years under Lovie Smith before Smith was fired in 2012, when the Bears led the league in interceptions (24) and takeaways (44) and were third in points allowed. "The success he had in Chicago as a co-ordinator speaks for itself," Garrett said. "To have him as a point person is exciting and to have Kiff in the overseeing role is again something we think is good for our team." The Cowboys now have three former head coaches on the staff in Callahan, Marinelli and Linehan, who was 11-25 in two-plus seasons as coach of the Rams. He was fired after an 0-4 start in 2008 and joined the Lions a year later when Jim Schwartz was hired as head coach. Schwartz was fired last month. ' ' '

City entered the match woefully short on options at striker with Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic all out on Saturday. But Silva stepped up and filled the void by scoring in the 49th and 61st minutes before Yaya Toure capped the scoring nine minutes from time to hand City its eighth successive win in all competitions. A patient approach from the home side still yielded decent chances in the first half, but it wasnt until after the break that Silva fired his team in front. Pablo Zabaleta did some good work to get into the penalty area and drop the ball off for Silva, whose first-time shot took a wicked deflection on its way past goalkeeper Julian Speroni. Silva was at it again just after the hour mark when he arrived in front of goal to redirect a low cross from Aleksandar Kolarov past Speroni. James McArthur thought he had pulled a goal back for the visitors when he headed the ball past Joe Hart in the City net, only for it to be ruled out for offsides. Toure put the finnishing touches on the win in the 81st minute when he took control of the ball from James Milner and smashed a shot off the post and into the net. D. J. Wilson Jersey. Coach Mike OShea says they opted to stick with veteran Mike Renaud for punting and go with Canadian newcomer Lirim Hajrullahu for field goals and kickoffs. He says American Brett Maher was pretty much in a tie with the Canadians, and as an import he needed to win all three battles. "I said all along in that battle he had to win the job outright in all three phases and I think he drew even in all three phases," he said Monday after Maher was released. "I think it was a pretty even draw. . . And the way our roster shapes up, that wasnt necessarily good enough." But he says Maher is a quality kicker who should find a home if anyone watched what he did with the Bombers. Renaud is entering his sixth season with Winnipeg. Rookie Hajrullahu is a native of St. Catharines, Ont., whose 402 points and 72 field goals are records at Western, where he played for the Mustangs through 2013. Winnipegs roster issues when it comes to the import-Canadian balance werent helped any Monday with the news linebacker Graig Newman could miss the entire regular season, after suffering a serious ankle injury in their final pre-season game in Calgary. OShea held out some hope he might return earlier. "Graigs a guy we went after hard in the off-season and Im not saying hes done for the season," he said. "I know thats whats been said in the report but Im optimistic and sos he and well see him soon. Hes already in his mind figuring out his rehab and how hard hes going to work. . . Ask me again in a couple of months, three months possibly." Newman was scheduled for surgery Monday after dislocating and fracturing his ankle in their 23-20 loss to the Calgary Stampeders Saturday night, the Bombers second pre-season loss after bowing 24-22 to the Toronto Argonauts last Monday. "Graig is not only a great football player, but a great person, and our entire organization supports him throughout this process," general manager Kyle Walters said in a release. " The six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Langley, B.C., had 18 tackles and one sack last season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also had one punt return for seven yards. "This is obviously very disappointing as I was really looking forward to being a part of all the new things going on in the Blue Bomber organization," Newman said in a statement issued by the team. "This is a great province to play football in, and I look forward to getting back out there as soon as possible." The Bombers also cut veteran Canadian offensive lineman Chris Kowalchuk on Monday. He was entering his sixth season, although he had only played a total of six games over the last two. They released three rookies as well, Canadian running back Errol Brooks and pair of imports, receiver C.J. Tarver and linebacker Kenny Tate. OShea says playing both pre-season games in less than a week was tough and he decided to give the players Monday off. "It makes it harder to practice right now," said OShea. "The guys had two games in six days, theyre tired and they need a little bit of a rest." He says its still training camp mode in terms of their practice shcedules, but theyre also getting ready for the CFL season opener, which will be played in Winnipeg against the Toronto Argonauts June 26. The break is timely, OShea said. "Our focus is cleaning ourselves up with the focus shifted to our opponent." He also said he has no worries about how the offensive line is shaping up, despite some criticism of the way they allowed Calgary to get to their quarterbacks on the weekend. "Theyre taking the techniques . . Theyre applying them in the game. . . By the time we roll into week one theyre all going to be better and theyre going to be better as a unit." He also said he wasnt worry about a defence that lost the battle in both pre-season games. "Im not concerned at all. I know what weve put in and I know that well keep working. The efforts there, the buy-in is there." ' ' '

ASHBURN, Va. Sony Michel Jersey . -- DeAngelo Hall made his way around on crutches with a walking boot on his leg, his season over with a ruptured left Achilles. The Washington Redskins lost their three-time Pro Bowl cornerback for the rest of the 2014 when an MRI confirmed what was suspected after Hall was hurt in the third quarter of Sundays loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Backup safety Duke Ihenacho is also done for the season with a broken bone in his left foot. Both Hall and Ihenacho were placed on injured reserve Monday, and while defensive end Jason Hatcher, linebacker Brian Orakpo and guard Shawn Lauvao were among several players nursing injuries that could keep them out of Thursdays game against the New York Giants. "Everybodys kind of consoling me like Im dying," Hall said. "Im like, Look, yall, Im not on suicide watch, Ill be all right. It couldve been a whole lot worse. Im hearing Achilles arent the end of the world." Hall, wearing purple and gold Los Angeles Lakers shorts, said he spoke with Kobe Bryant shortly after the game to get advice about surgery and rehab. Bryant tore his Achilles last year. "Im not a spring chicken, so Ive got to make sure I get it done the right way," said the 30-year-old Hall. "Got to be as patient with it as possible." Hall said he hasnt decided where or when to have his surgery. Hes had a relatively healthy career and hasnt missed a game since 2009. Halls absence will be felt by a Redskins defence that is off to a good start but has been thinned by injuries. Second-year player David Amerson becomes the teams No. 1 cornerback, and rookie fourth-round pick Bashaud Breeland could be the other starter Thursday against the New York Giants. Tracy Porter, signed as a free agent to be the nickel cornerback, has yet to play this season because of a hamstring injury. Hall is also a team leader, a position that would have been unexpected several years ago from a player known for his hot-headed moments. Asked if that element of his game will be missed, he pointed out that it was maybe for the best that he wasnt on the field during the Eagles- Redskins brawl in the fourth quarter. "I try to be a calming force, but Im probably the craziest one out of everybody," Hall said. "Somebody said thank God I wasnt on the sidelines during the fight, because I mightve been swinging my crutches around." Ihenacho was hurt while covering a kickoff in the first quarter against the Eagles. He was claimed off waivers from the Denver Broncos at the end of preseason and played in two games for the Redskins. The Redskins filled one roster spot by promoting cornerback Chase Minnifield from the practice squad to the active roster. Hatcher, Orapko and Lauvao were among 17 players listed on the injury report Monday. Coach Jay Gruden said all are day-to-day. Hatcher injured a hamstring during the fourth quarter Sunday. "Well just take the proper precaution with the trainers," Hatcher said, "and see what they think about Thursday." Orakpo was scheduled to see a hand specialist about an injury to his left middle finger. "I think hell be OK," Gruden said. "Its just going to hurt him a little bit." Lauvaos right knee was bruised and swollen after he was hurt in the third quarter. An MRI showed no structural damage. John Hannah Youth Jersey . PITTSBURGH -- Since Jerome Bettis retired after the 2005 NFL season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have searched for a big, bruising running back in his mould. The list of hopefuls has been long, if not particularly distinguished. Verron Haynes, Najee Davenport, Carey Davis, Gary Russell, Frank Summers, Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman all failed to consistently provide production in short-yardage and goal line situations. Enter LeGarrette Blount. The 6-foot, 250-pound veteran certainly looks the part. And while he has a long way to go to be mentioned with the likes of Bettis, there have been plenty of flashes during his four seasons in the league. Blount averaged 5.0 yards per carry while splitting time with Stevan Ridley in New England last season, and gashed the Indianapolis Colts for 166 yards and four touchdowns in the playoffs. Though second-year back LeVeon Bell remains the starter, Blount is confident he can make an impact no matter what situation. "I know they brought me in here to run the football, so I hope there are plenty of carries to go around," Blount said Wednesday. "I know that LeVeon is going to get his fair share, so I hope theres enough for all of us." Bell, last years second-round pick, missed the opening three games while recovering from a preseason foot injury. But he still played nearly 700 snaps, a heavy workload the 6-foot-1, 230-pound Bell managed with ease. Still, the Steelers will find opportunities to go from the patient and pragmatic Bell to the bruising Blount, with the emphasis on bruising. "Thats my running style," Blount said. "Thats how I run the football, and I feel like (Bell) is also a big, tough running back, too. So, thats just how this team is built, with a physical running game, and I think thats what theyre trying to get back to. So, hopefully, we can do that." Blount noted a balannced offence is needed to make a run to the Super Bowl such as the ones by Seattle and Denver last year. Drew Bledsoe Womens Jersey. The champion Seahawks had Marshawn Lynch running the ball and Russell Wilson throwing it, while the Broncos ran the ball with Knowshon Moreno when Peyton Manning wasnt breaking NFL passing records. "I think its huge for us to (sign Blount), because Ive always said that we need to be a balanced offence," quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said. "So, we need to run the ball. We need to be great at running the ball, and weve got guys that want to be great at running the ball. So, hopefully, we can do it and do it successfully." Blount added that while his body type and size make him an ideal power back, he has a variety of skill sets, such as catching the football and running away from defenders in the open field. But he certainly has proven he can run over them as well. Those attributes, combined with Bells slashing style, should give the Steelers a solid one-two punch. "I think we have a really good mix of running backs," Blount said. "(But) Ive seen the NFL Network, and they have these top 10 or top five running back duos in the NFL. I noticed that were not one of them, and I dont like it. In all honesty, I believe theyre downgrading the skill level that we have in our backfield. . I think thats kind of disrespectful." Does that mean Blount and Bell have something to prove? "Were not going to go out here and go on about how were not in that group," Blount said. "But were going to go out there and show that we belong there with our performance." NOTES: RB Dri Archer has missed the opening two OTAs, just like linebacker Jordan Zumwalt from UCLA, because his school is on the quarters system and their class has not yet graduated. . OTAs continue Thursday and also run Tuesday through Thursday next week. ' ' '

SEATTLE -- After scoring 46 goals in five seasons for FC Dallas, Kenny Cooper knocked in a big one against his former team Wednesday. Wilmar Barrios Jersey . Less than two minutes after coming onto the field, Cooper converted a pass from Obafemi Martins in the 88th minute, and the Seattle Sounders came from behind to beat FC Dallas 2-1 and win their fifth straight game. Martins also set up Lamar Neagle for the tying goal in the 62nd minute. He has an MLS-leading six assists. Cooper subbed in for Neagle in the 86th minute. With Martins bringing the ball down the left side, Cooper ran into the box, took Martins cross and one-timed it high into the left side of the net for his third goal of the season. Cooper played his first four MLS seasons (2006-09) with Dallas, then returned last year after stops in New York and Portland. After drilling the ball past Dallas goalkeeper Raul Fernandez, he didnt engage in any elaborate goal celebration. The score was his 75th in MLS. "I would never want to disrespect a former team that was good to me," Cooper said. "Theres a lot of great quality on this (Seattle) team. I think were all determined and hungry to get out there and contribute. Once I get that opportunity, Im giving it my best." Cooper was acquired in an off-season trade as coach Sigi Schmid and the Sounders sought to bolster their bench after a late-season nosedive in 2013. He has played in nine of Seattles 10 games, coming off the bench in four. Schmid said his reserves are well-prepared. "Theyre good pros. Theyre motivated, and theyre (ticked) off when theyre not playing," he said. "When they get on the field, they want to make my life and my choices as hard as possible." The Sounders (7-2-1) tied a club record with their fifth straight victory, extending their unbeaten streak to six and their league-leading point total to 22. They came from behind in five of the games during the unbeaten streak. Each of the five game-winning goals have come in the final 15 minutes. "Its probably more nerve-wracking for us on the bench than it is for them on the field," Schmid said. "1-0 down for us is nothing. We can battle back from that." Brazilian forward Michel gave FC Dallas (5-4-1) the early lead when he converted a penalty kick in the 16th minute. It was his fourth goal of the year. Blas Perez helped set up the penalty kick when he charged into the box in pursuit of a ball, with Brad Evans and Zach Scott of the Sounders on him. In a tangle of feet, Perez went down, with Evans whistled for the foul. FC Dallas, which started 4-0-1, lost its third straight. "We deserved more, but thats the game," said Dallas coach Oscar Pareja. Radamel Falcao Jersey . The Kings won their second Stanley Cup title in three seasons last spring, but 2014-15 has been something of a struggle for Darryl Sutters club. That has been particularly true on the road, where Los Angeles is just 4-6-5 this season. L.A. has managed to post just one win on its current five-game swing, going 1-2-1 so far on the trip. The Kings have lost the last two tilts, getting slammed 6-2 in Montreal on Friday before falling Sunday in a shootout against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Tonight the Kings face a St. Louis team that is on a four-game winning streak. In addition to the current overall hot streak, the Blues also have won three in a row on home ice to push their record at Scottrade to 11-3-1. L.A. hopes to knock the Blues down a peg tonight by continuing its dominance in this series. The Kings have won two straight, seven of eight and nine of the last 11 meetings overall. St. Louis has lost three of the last four encounters in the Gateway City. The clubs will complete their regular-season series with a home-and-home set this week with the Blues visiting Los Angeles on Thursday when the Kings begin a four-game stay at the Staples Center. The Kings won the only previous encounter in 2014-15, recording a 1-0 home win against St. Louis back on Oct. 16. Jonathan Quick made 43 saves in that shootout victory. Quick took the loss in his clubs mosst recent defeat after Torontos Joffrey Lupul notched the lone goal of the shootout in a 4-3 Maple Leafs victory. Luis Muriel Jersey. L.A.s No. 1 netminder stopped 28 shots through regulation and overtime before getting beat by Lupul in the first round. Justin Williams had a goal and an assist in the loss, while Marian Gaborik and Dwight King each lit the lamp. Alec Martinez supplied two helpers for the Kings. L.A. is now 1-3 in shootouts and 2-5 in games that have gone past regulation. These overtime and shootout games, we just have to pull through somehow, said Gaborik. We havent been successful in these this year, but we battled back and we got that point. We just need to get some more points on the road. The Blues earned an OT victory their last time out, as T.J. Oshie scored 63 seconds into the extra session to lift St. Louis to a 3-2 victory at Colorado. Oshies game-winning goal came on the 42nd shot of the game for the Blues, who only allowed 25 shots against. Oshie took Barret Jackmans from the left boards and used a Colorado defenseman as a screen before scoring on a wrister from the slot. This is something Ive worked on in practice, catching it and releasing it quick, Oshie said. It was perfect timing and Jack made a great feed to me. Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk also lit the lamp for the Blues. Jake Allen made 23 saves for the win. Martin Brodeur could get his third start of the season for St. Louis tonight. The veteran netminder is 8-6-1 with a 2.13 goals against average in 16 career games against the Kings. ' ' '

SEATTLE -- Though the Mariners are the team in a tight playoff race, it was the Houston Astros who played like contenders Tuesday night. Max Scharping Jersey . Jonathan Villar hit a tiebreaking single in the ninth inning to lift Collin McHugh and the Astros to a 2-1 victory over Seattle. Logan Morrison homered off McHugh in the eighth to tie it, but Houston countered and dropped the Mariners a half-game out in the race for the second AL wild card. "This type of win builds character," said interim Astros manager Tom Lawless, who is 5-2 since taking over when Bo Porter was fired last week. "They have the confidence and they know they can win. When you have that, you come out ahead a lot of times. And its someone different every night." With two outs in the ninth, Yoervis Medina (4-3) walked Jon Singleton and he advanced to second on a wild pitch. Singleton moved to third on Matt Dominguezs single to deep shortstop. Villar bounced a 1-1 fastball from Charlie Furbush to the right of second baseman Robinson Cano, who made a dive for the ball as it skipped over his glove and rolled into right field. "We had the matchup we wanted," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said. "We had the groundball we wanted. It just took a bad hop. Tough break." Houston (64-81) has won 13 of 21, and the Astros are nearly halfway through a stretch that has them facing playoff contenders in 18 straight games. "Its a good sign of things to come for this organization," McHugh said. McHugh (9-9) permitted only two hits in eight innings -- an infield single in the fourth and Morrisons long homer off the facade of the second deck in right field. The right-hander struck out four and walked none. Josh Fields worked the ninth for his fourth save. "The way we lost tonight is not ideal. We take it a little harder. But it is what it is: one game," Morrison said. "We still control our own destiny so if we continue to take care of business, well be fine." Roenis Elias pitched six innings for the Mariners, allowing one run and six hits. He walked two and struck out four. The Astros scored with two outs in the fourth. With Jake Marisnick on first, Singleton sent a line shot to right that hit the yellow line at the top of the 8-foot wall. In his attempt to gather it in, right fielder Michael Saunders bobbled the ball twice. That allowed Marisnick to beat the relay home on the double. A replay review kept the Astros off the board in the sixth. With two outs and runners on first and second, Singleton bounced a grounder to the right of Morrison at first base. He made a high toss to Elias covering. Elias leaped for the ball and came down on the bag at the same time as Singleton. Singleton was ruled safe, and Chris Carter raced across the plate. McClendon challenged the call at first, which was reversed. Joe Beimel pitched to one batter in the ninth for his 50th appearance. That gave the Mariners seven relievers with at least 50 appearances, matching the major league record set by the 2002 Atlanta Braves. EXTENDED STAY? Lawless, who took over the team last Tuesday, said he hasnt talked to anyone in the front office but certainly would like to stick around after this season. "Ive been in baseball forever. Well see what happens," he said. "Hopefully, Ill be included in the mix and we can just take it from there. Maybe this is a nice tryout for me, to see what I can do and see how everybody responds and how were going about our business." SUCCESSFUL IN SEATTLE In two starts at Safeco Field, McHugh has given up just one run and allowed five hits while striking out 16. Over his last eight starts, he is 5-0 with a 1.69 ERA. "I had better fastball command than Ive had in a while. It felt good coming out of my hand," McHugh said. "Its nice to be able to put the ball where you want. It was pretty frustrating to battle almost eight innings and (Morrison) puts a swing like that on it. You tip your hat, but it was still a tie game and we had a job to do." TRAINERS ROOM Mariners: An MRI revealed bone spurs in OF Dustin Ackleys painful left ankle. He missed his third straight game. The club hopes he can return for the weekend series against Oakland. UP NEXT Mariners RHP Hisashi Iwakuma (14-6, 2.97 ERA), who starts the series finale Wednesday, is 6-1 with a 2.70 ERA in his last eight starts. He has as many wins as walks this season. Iwakuma will be opposed by RHP Nick Tropeano, making his major league debut. The September call-up was a fifth-round selection in the 2011 draft. Lonnie Johnson Youth Jersey . Patriots attorney Andrew Phelan said at a hearing in Fall River Superior Court the team has agreed to produce 317 pages of materials sought by the defence, including medical and training records. But the team objects to turning over nine pages of scouting reports, which Phelan said contain proprietary "trade secrets." He also said they are irrelevant. Phelan said the Patriots have offered Hernandezs lawyers the option of reviewing -- but not copying -- what he described as a 1 1/2 page summary of the psychological assessment. Thats all the team has, according to court filings. The team says the defence should seek to obtain the full report from the third party that produced it, which specializes in providing character and mental assessments for professional sports organizations. Phelan accused the defence of being on a "fishing expedition." Hernandez, 24, has pleaded not guilty to murder in the June 2013 shooting death of Odin Lloyd, a former semi-professional football player from Boston who was dating the sister of Hernandezs fiancee. Lloyds bullet-riddled body was found in an industrial area not far from the ex-players Massachusetts home. Prosecutors say Hernandez orchestrated the killing because he was upset with Lloyd for talking to some people with whom Hernandez had problems at a nightclub a few days earlier. Hernandezs attorneyss last month asked a judge to approve a subpoena to compel his former employer to turn over all the records in his personnel file, saying they may contain important information about his state of mind. J.J. Watt Womens Jersey. "State of mind is critical," defence attorney Michael Fee told a judge Wednesday. "This is not a fishing expedition. Were not on a lark." He said the scouting reports may contain exculpatory information about "prior bad acts" allegedly committed by Hernandez before he joined the Patriots in 2010, including while he played football at the University of Florida. Fee called the offer to merely look at the psychological profile summary "a dodge and a feint," saying the document is part of the personnel file and that the defence is entitled to it. Hernandez has agreed to the files release. He was released by the Patriots on the day of his arrest last summer. The judge did not hear arguments on the merits of the subpoena request but set a hearing for July 22. Hernandez attended Wednesdays proceeding but did not address the court. Afterward, he was transferred to a new jail in Boston after his attorneys earlier request for a move -- to be closer to them -- was approved. Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins said Hernandez, who is being held without bail, will be treated like any other inmate. He said Hernandez will undergo an initial assessment before its determined whether hell be placed in the general population or isolation. Hernandez has also pleaded not guilty in a separate case in which hes charged with killing two men in Boston in 2012. ' ' '

Adnan Januzaj is sticking to stick to his roots. Mateo Kovacic Chelsea Jersey . Belgium coach Marc Wilmots says the young Manchester United winger has chosen to represent Belgium as a senior international. Januzajs addition offers yet another attacking option to an already-deep Belgian team ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Belgians offer an excellent blend of skill and experience ahead of their first World Cup berth since 2002. Their World Cup squad is likely to include Januzajs United teammate Marouane Fellaini, cross-town rival Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku. Belgium is currently ranked 12th in the FIFA rankings and was one of the top eight teams at the time the official seedings were done for the World Cup Draw. The Belgians were drawn together in Group H alongside Algeria, Russia and Korea Republic. In an October interview with KTV, a Kosovo-based television station, Januzaj outlined his many international options. He is eligible to play for Belgium by birth and through his passport. However, being from a family of Albanian heritage, he is also eligible to represent them. His parents are actually Kosovar, but Kosovo does not have a FIFA-sanctioned senior team. There had been some speculation that the Brussels-born Januzaj might choose to represent England on the international stage, with manager Roy Hodgson stating in October that the FA was monitoring the 19-year-old. Januzaj is actually ineligible to represent under the FIFA Home Nations Agreement. Mateo Kovacic Jersey . ARLINGTON, Texas - Kendrys Morales slapped a line drive away from the Texas shift, landing it just inside the foul line in left field where the only person close to it was a security guard scrambling to get out of the way. Abby Dahlkemper USA Jersey . A deft leap from the guard kept the ball in play and sent the Twins on their way to ending a 10-game road losing streak. Morales tiebreaking double in the top of the ninth off Texas closer Joakim Soria brought in pinch-runner Sam Fuld from first base in a 3-2 Minnesota victory Sunday. After the security guard dodged the ball with his right foot, the carom off a brick wall just missed his left foot as the ball rolled into shallow left field, a long way from Texas Michael Choice. A ground-rule double would have forced Fuld to stop at third instead of scoring easily, and Soria (1-3) struck out the final two hitters of the inning. "We got a couple of breaks, and we won the ballgame," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. Kyle Gibson (7-6) matched a career high by going eight innings and scattering eight hits. Glen Perkins struck out the side in the ninth for his 20th save in 23 chances. Robinson Chirinos had three hits for Texas, including his seventh homer of the season in the fifth inning for a 2-2 tie. Josh Willinghams second hit got the winning rally started with one out in the ninth before he was replaced by Fuld. The Twins had lost the first five games on a six-game road trip after winning four straight on a brief homestand. "It was a big game for us after a tough road trip," said Gibson, who had a 22-inning scoreless streak snapped when he allowed seven runs in just two innings to start the trip at the Los Angeles Angels. "All I did was try to give my team a chance to win and turn things around." Jorge Polanco, making his first major league start for Minnesota, had a tying double on a check-swing roller over the bag at third base in the third inning. The 20-year-old shortstop scored for a 2-1 lead on a single by Joe Mauer, who extended his hitting streak to a season-high 10 games. "They did what they had to do to win the game," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "We didnt. Even if it was check swings and all that stuff, thats baseball. You cant control what happens sometimes." Polanco also had a strong day defensively, helping turn three double plays and taking a hit way from Elvis Andrus on a one-hop smash to his left in the eighth inning. "The kid played great at shortstop," Gardenhire said. "He has good at-bats. Hes got things to learn, but hes doing just fine." The Rangers had runners at first and third with nobody out in the second and again with one out in the seventh but didnt score either time. Choice struck out ahead of Rougned Odors double-play grounder in the second, and Choice grounded into a double play to end the seventh. Texas right-hander Colby Lewis ended a streak of 13 straight starts without a quality start of at least six innings and three earned runs or fewer, which was tied for the major league record with Seattles Steve Trout from 1988. He gave up two runs in six innings and struck out eight. Lewis left in a 2-2 tie, remaining winless in seven career starts against the Twins. It was the second rough outing of the three-game series for Soria. He gave up four runs in the ninth inning of Texas 5-4 victory on Friday. The injury-riddled Rangers (37-44) hit the halfway mark of the season with their fewest wins since 2007 and are 14 games behind Oakland in the AL West. "Were just in a situation right now where weve got guys hurt and were going to go out there and compete," Lewis said. "Thats all Wash asks us to do." LaRoche continued his hot start Tuesday night, hitting a tying double in the eighth inning and a go-ahead single in the ninth to lift the Nationals over the Houston Astros 4-3. "Its good for him because hes not traditionally a fast starter," manager Matt Williams said. "He really focused on it in spring training and really focused on driving one in. Hes going to hit homers with guys on base but that ones big for us as evidenced tonight. If he can do that the homers will come ... but when he can consistently drive runs in like that were a better team." Jayson Werth homered as the Nationals won the opener of the interleague series. Denard Span drew a leadoff walk in the ninth, stole second and advanced to third on a groundout. He scored on LaRoches hit to right field off Josh Fields (0-3). "When Im feeling pretty good, one, Im taking some walks and two, Im using the whole field," LaRoche said. LaRoche is hitting .312 with four home runs, 17 RBIs and 16 walks in 2014. Tyler Clippard (2-2) pitched a scoreless eighth for the win. Rafael Soriano walked two in a scoreless ninth for his fifth save. Werth hit fourth home run in the first inning. Houston scored three times in the third for a 3-2 lead, helped by rookie George Springers two-run single. Houston manager Bo Porter was troubled that his team let another one get away late. "Its very concerning, because our starting pitcher did a very good job," he said. "You feel like you are in position to win the game, you have the right guys matched up, and you just dont get it done." Werth singled to start the eighth and scored on LaRoches double to left-centre field. Center fielder Dexter Fowler tracked the ball to the wall, but it glanced off his glove as he crashed to the ground. The Nationals went on to load the bases before Chad Qualls struck out Jose Lobaton. Crystal Dunn USA Jersey. Washington starter Gio Gonzalez allowed five hits and three runs, striking out a season-high nine in six innings. Houstons Jarred Cosart gave up five hits, two runs and struck out six in six innings in his first career start against an NL team. Cosart hit Kevin Frandsen with a pitch to start the third inning and he scored on a double by Lobaton to make it 2-0. Houstons first hit was a double by Matt Dominguez to open the third and he moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Jonathan Villar. Fowlers two-out single cut Washingtons lead to 2-1 and extended his hitting streak to nine games. Jason Castro reached on a double when the ball bounced off the padding on the wall in left field -- Frandsen saved a run when he made a nifty no-look, backhanded stop on the carom. He said he simply got lucky on the play and shared what he told his teammates when they asked how he did it. "You stick your glove out and maybe some things go in there," he said with a laugh. Springers single on a line drive to left field put Houston ahead. The Nationals had another good defensive play when Span ran up Tals Hill in centre field and landed on his backside as he caught a fly ball hit by Dominguez for the second out of the fourth inning. NOTES: These teams wrap up the two-game series on Wednesday when Houston LHP Brett Oberholtzer opposes RHP Jordan Zimmermann. ... Washington OF Bryce Harper had surgery on his injured left thumb on Tuesday and will be out for an extended period of time. Harper was injured on Friday night against San Diego on a headfirst slide into third base on a triple. ... Houston RHP Scott Feldman, on the 15-day DL retroactive to April 18 with right biceps tendinitis, said he felt good after throwing 35 pitches in a bullpen session on Tuesday. ANAHEIM, Calif. Jerome Robinson Jersey . -- Although Stephane Robidas isnt a flashy player, the sturdy defenceman could be exactly what the high-flying Anaheim Ducks need in their Stanley Cup chase. The Ducks acquired Robidas from the Dallas Stars on Tuesday for a conditional fourth-round pick in this years draft. The overall NHL leaders made three deals on the day before the leagues trade deadline, shaking up their roster with 20 games left in the regular season. Anaheim also sent backup goalie Viktor Fasth to Edmonton and shipped forward Dustin Penner to Washington. Although the 37-year-old Robidas wont return from a broken leg for at least two more weeks, the Ducks were eager to acquire a hard-nosed veteran with superior passing skills and a nasty edge to his game. Theyre all attributes Anaheim could use in its attempt to back up its outstanding regular season with playoff success. The Ducks lead the NHL with 91 points and three straight victories heading into Wednesdays game against Montreal, but theyve won just one playoff series since winning their franchises only Stanley Cup title in 2007. Robidas knew he probably didnt have a future with the Stars, who havent discussed a contract extension with him. When he heard Anaheim was interested, he jumped at the chance to play in the post-season for the first time since 2008, when Dallas eliminated the defending champion Ducks in the first round. "Were going for a Stanley Cup, and thats what Ive been waiting for for a long time," said Robidas, who is joining his fourth NHL club. "I think its a great opportunity for me, and Im just very excited for the chance the Ducks are giving me." Robidas hasnt played since breaking his leg against Chicago on Nov. 29 while crashing into the boards behind the net, but he has been participating extensively in practice. He had four goals and one assist in 24 games for the Stars this season. "Everything has been going really well," Robidas said of his recovery. "Ive just got a few little things I need to get a little more comfortable." Robidas should add experience and toughness to a defence that has spent the entire season without veteran Sheldon Souray, who got hurt in summer training. Robidas should be familiar to some Ducks fans from that 2008 playoff series in which Anaheims Todd Marchant accidentally broke Robidas nose with the puck -- and Robidas returned to the game shortly afterward. "Thats how I play," Robidas said. "Im not a finesse player. I know my role. I know what I need to do. I know how I need to play, and Im not going to change the way Ive been playing. Im going to be the same player, and I think thats why they came and they got me." Robidas is seventh in Dallas club history with 704 games played. He has 211 points in two stints with Dallas, his home for all but 45 NHL games since 2002. The draft pick acquired by the Stars becomes a third-rounder if the Ducks reach the Western Conference finals and Robidas plays in half their playoff games. Discount Clippers Jerseys . The 155th edition of the Plate for Canadian-foaled three-year-olds, the oldest continuously run stakes race in North America, will be televised live on TSN in HD (High Definition) in a special presentation from 4:30 – 6:00 pm ET. Post time is 5:38 pm. The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Right Honourable David C. Onley, will be the Royal Guest of Honour. All starters carry 126 pounds, except the lone filly Lexie Lou, who will tote 121 pounds for the mile and one-quarter classic over Woodbines Polytrack. The winner will receive $600,000. At the Queens Plate breakfast on Thursday morning, the selection order for post positions was drawn first via the traditional pill-pull, followed by the choosing of post positions by the connections for each horse, a system which has been in place for the Plate since 1998. We Miss Artie (PP6, 8-5), trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by Javier Castellano, proved a comfortable winner of the Trial by three-quarters of a length over Majestic Sunset, his first outing at Woodbine and his first start since a 10th place finish, just eight and one-quarter lengths behind California Chrome in the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on May 3. Hell try to become the 26th Plate Trial winner since 1944 to win the Plate, the last being Big Red Mike in 2010. "I think my horse ran really well (in the Trial)," said owner Ken Ramsey, after choosing post six with the second selection. "(Jockey Javier) Castellano said he was saving himself for the Queens Plate. Hes doing exceptionally well (at Saratoga)." And Eighty Nine Red was the longest price of the bunch, sent postward a 16-1 outsider. No problem. Ridden by Jesse Campbell for trainer Mike DePaulo, Eighty Nine Red, tucked along the rail, stalked the pace of favoured Flashy Margaritta, then came out turning for home and prevailed in a stretch drive, taking the six furlong event for Ontario-bred three-year-olds by one length in 1:10.28. Flashy Margaritta, who had cranked out reasonable fractions of :22.97 and :45.67, held on for place, while Spadina Road closed for third. Owned by John Russell and George Schramm, the son of Bold Executive-Timeless Silver had opened his 2014 campaign in style, easily winning a five furlong allowance contest. But after a third place finish to Speightsong in the seven furlong Queenston, then a seventh place finish to Flashy Margaritta in the turf, six furlong Bold Ruckus, Eighty Nine Red returned to the Polytrack and prevailed. "I was a little worried going into the (far) turn. It was pretty tight. (Jockey) Patrick (Husbands, aboard Flashy Margaritta) was doing his job, doing what I would have done," said Campbell. "I loved the way this horse responded today. I had high hopes for this horse all along. He put it all together today. He really ran a good race." Eighty Nine Red had been kept eligibble for the Queens Plate but his connections decided to shorten him up. Youth Clippers Jerseys. Added DePaulo, "Jesse did a great job. The horse ran on and we got it done. Being by Bold Executive, there havent been too many who have run that far (the Queens Plate distance of a mile and one-quarter). Hopefully hell make a real good sprinter for us." Eighty Nine Red paid $34.90, $9.90 and $3.30, combining with Flashy Margaritta ($3.50, $2.20) for a $119.80 (1-2) exactor. A 1-2-5 (Spadina Road, $2.70) triactor was worth $287.40. STACKED DECK ACES THE CHARLIE BARLEY Bruce Lunsfords homebred Stacked Deck, with Chantal Sutherland-Kruse, made his seasonal debut a winning one, hanging on to defeat Speightsland in the co-featured $100,000 Charlie Barley Stakes, Saturday at Woodbine. The one mile tilt on the lawn for three-year-olds drew an excellent field of nine, with Speightsong, the Queenston Stakes winner and multiple stakes winner Jose Sea View vying for favouritism. Dismissed at 14-1, Stacked Deck, trained by Barb Minshall, stalked the pacesetting Tuscan Getaway until the turn into the long E.P. Taylor Turf Course stretch. The now gelded son of First Samurai-Bel Air Beauty took over in mid-stretch, opened a length, then was all out to hold off another longshot, 16-1 Speightland, for the nose victory in 1:33.45. Florida Won was a close third, a length behind. Tuscan Getaway had set all the fractions over a lightning fast turf course, :22.99, :45.42, and 1:09.10, while being pursued by Stacked Deck, before giving way."Thankfully my horse had something left over," said Sutherland-Kruse. "The plan wasnt really to be that close. We were hoping for a stalking trip. We broke well. I didnt think he had much left turning for home, but he kind of foolS you." Added owner Bruce Lunsford, who also raced the sire and the dam, "Barbara did a tremendous job bringing this horse back. To win this race off the bench after we couldnt get an allowance race to go, we think weve got big things ahead of us with this horse." "Hes a great horse," said Minshall. "Hes a smart horse, so clever." Stacked Deck had three starts last year, two on the grass, but he broke his maiden in his final outing over Woodbines Polytrack. LONDON - Former champion Maria Sharapova saved six match points before falling to Angelique Kerber in the fourth round at Wimbledon on Tuesday, ending her bid to win a second title at the All England Club a decade after her first. Cheap New York Rangers Jerseys . Five-time champion Serena Williams, meanwhile, struggled to even hit the ball over the net in a doubles match with sister Venus and pulled out after only three games with what officials called a viral illness. Sharapova, a five-time major champion, saved one match point at 5-2 down in the third set and five more in the final game before hitting a backhand long on the seventh. That gave the ninth-seeded Kerber a stirring 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-4 win on Centre Court in a match that lasted 2 hours, 37 minutes. "Its unbelievable," said the German, a semifinalist two years ago. "It was so tough (a) match. Every single set was so close. Marias a great player. I was just fighting, concentrating and focusing on myself. Im so happy to be in the quarters now." Kerber will next face 20-year-old Canadian star Eugenie Bouchard, the only woman to reach the semifinals this year at both the Australian Open and French Open. Bouchard beat Kerber in the fourth round at the French. Sharapova, who won her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2004 at the age of 17, was coming off her latest major championship at the French Open last month. "Its absolutely normal for people to have high expectations of me doing well in Grand Slam stages," Sharapova said. "I certainly do, as well. Today could have gone either way, and it didnt go my way." On a day when seven-time mens champion Roger Federer sailed into the quarterfinals, Serena was out of sorts from the moment the pre-match warmup began. She had trouble collecting tennis balls from the ball kids and missed completely on some practice strokes. The start of the second-round doubles against Kristina Barrois and Stefanie Voegele was put off for about 10 minutes while Serena sat in her chair and was examined by medical staff. In the third game, Serena hit four double-faults. She hit serves that bounced before reaching the net. Umpire Kader Nouni climbed down from his chair and walked over to speak to Serena. The sisters walked to the sideline holding hands, and the match was stopped. Serena wiped away tears as she left the court. The Wimbledon referees office and WTA said Serena had a viral illness. She left the grounds a few hours later in a tournament car with Venus. While Sharapova sought to dictate play with her big-swinging groundstrokes, Kerber played counter-attacking tennis and went for her shots when the opportunities came. The match featured high tension and intensity. Sharapovas shrieks grew louder and louder as the match wore on. Kerber went up 4-1 and saved two break points to lead 5-2 in the final set. She held a match point on Sharapovas serve, but the Russian hit a deep backhand that she couldnt handle. With Kerber serving for the match in the next game, Sharapova broke for 5-4. Then Kerber went up 0-40 on Sharapovas serve, but the Russian erased those three match points. Two more came and went. Sharapova twice earned game points but couldnt convert. Finally, on the sixth match point of the game, it ended with Sharapovas backhand error. Federer kept up his bid for a record eighth Wimbledon title by beating Tommy Robredo to reach the quarterfinals for the 12th time. Federer, who has not dropped a set in the tournament, overwhelmed the Spaniard 6-1, 6-1, 6-4 in just over 90 minutes. "All the things are happening that need to be happening to go deep in this tournament again," he said. Federers win set up an all-Swiss duel with Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka, who beat Feliciano Lopez 7-6 (5), 7-6 (7), 6-3 to make it to the quarterfinals for the first time. Eighth-seeded Milos Raonic became the first Canadian man to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals since Robert Powell in 1912, beating No. 10 Kei Nishikori of Japan 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) 6-3. The first woman into the semifinals was No. 23 Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic, who beat Ekaterina Makarova of Russia, 6-3 6-1. French Open runner-up Simona Halep breezed into the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan. Her next opponent will be 2013 finalist Sabine Lisicki of Germany, who overcame shoulder trouble to defeat Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. ___ Cheap Rangers Jerseys Authentic . SAO PAOLO, Brazil -- Fabio Maldonado valiantly accepted a heavyweight fight with Stipe Miocic to help save the main event at "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3," but he wasnt able to last longer than 35 seconds with his larger opponent. Rudy Gay Jersey . A big right hand for Miocic led to the quick finish in the headlining bout of Saturdays event, which took place at Sao Paulos Ibirapuera Gymnasium. Miocic (12-1) had been expected to face former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos, but injury scrapped that matchup and Maldonado stepped in as a replacement opponent. Maldonado (21-7) was a heavy underdog in the contest, but his penchant for putting on legendary battles led some to believe he had a chance of least making the bout entertaining. Instead, Miocic avoided some early offence and countered with a right to the temple that sent Maldonado to the floor. He followed with a series of hammerfists, and the fight was waved off in just 35 seconds. "I was real nervous," Miocic said. "That guys a tank. He keeps coming forward and doesnt stop. Hes got the heart of a lion, and I just needed to get my shots in. I got an open break and I landed a good punch. I think it was my night. I didnt want him to play possum with me, and I just waited for an opportunity, and I got it." In the heavyweight final, Antonio Carlos Jr. (4-0) used a dominant grappling game to outpoint fellow finalist Vitor Miranda (9-4). Miranda tried to use his kickboxing skills to punish his opponent on the feet, and he chopped at Carloss legs throughout the 15-minute affair. But it was Carlos who simply overwhelmed his opponent by repeatedly bringing him to the floor over and over and preventing him from moving back to his feet. Mirandas submission defence was impressive, but he was never able to mount any real counter attack and Carlos was awarded the victory with scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28. Perhaps most impressive in the result is that Carlos has been competing in professional MMA for less than one full year and his natural weight class is actually at 185 pounds, where hell likely move for his next outing. "I am the TUF champion, and I couldnt be happier," said Carlos. "I had never fought three rounds, but I think I needed this to grow as a fighter." Meanwhile in the middleweight final, Warlley Alves (7-0) looked absolutely dominant in a third-round submission win over fellow finalist Marcio Alexandre Jr. (12-1). Alves was the aggressor from the start, flooring Alexandre with a big right hand in the opening seconds of the fight. To his credit, the resilient Alexandre climbed back to his feet and looked to return fire, but Alves sheer aggression kept him in control of the fight the entire time. Big shots on the feet and big takedowns to the floor left Alves clearly ahead after two rounds, but he didnt settle for cruising to a decision win. Instead Alves blasted Alexandre with a big shot on the feet and then pounced with a guillotine choke, putting his opponent to sleep 25 seconds into the third and final round. "It was an honor to fight with a full, packed Ibirapuera screaming my name," said Alves. "I am sure I will get where I want and hope to put on a show in my upcoming fights." In a welterweight matchup, Sao Paulo native Demian Maia (19-6) picked up a dominating decision win over promotional newcomer Alexander Yakovlev (21-5-1). Submission ace Maia actually struck first with his boxing skills, flooring Yakovlev in the opening round with a left hand. But it was his grappling that earned Maia the win after a gutsy Yakovlev scrambled back to his feet. In all three rounds, Maia was able to take the action to the floor and advance to mount, pinning Yakovlev to the mat and forcing him to fight from his back. To his credit, Yakovlev always tried to buck and roll and escape to his feet, but Maia kept himself in a dominant position for much of the fight and was awarded an easy-to-score decision win, 30-27 on all three judges cards. "I really needed this win because in the UFC, every win is important," Maia said. "He defended really well, but I was able impose my game both standing and on the ground. " In the nights first main-card matchup, featherweight Robbie Peralta (18-4) earned a hard-fought and oddly-scored split-decision win over Rony Jason (14-5). Jason dominated the early action, landing a massive spinning elbow in the first round that could easily have ended the fight. But Peralta fought through it and seemed to gain confidence as the bout wore on. As Jasons offence slowed, Peralta came alive, but he was never able to completely dominate the action. With every flurry fired, Jason would find at least a single answer. In the end, Peraltas volume was rewarded with a split-decision win, but Jasons gutsy effort earned him points with the judges, resulting in a bizarre array of scores with 29-28, 27-30 and 30-27. "He is a tough guy, and I knew it was going to be a battle, going back and forth," Peralta said after the win. "I am just glad I came out on top." Almost immediately after the Toronto Blue Jays finished May with an outstanding 21-9 record, skipper John Gibbons basically said that was all well and good, but the Jays couldnt let up and had to avoid the "June Swoon". Shake Milton Jersey . That prompted me to go back through the years that Rogers has owned the club to see how many times the Jays have actually stumbled in June and seriously damaged their seasons. This is Rogers 15th season of club ownership. They have had three general managers, Gord Ash (inherited), J.P Ricciardi and Alex Anthopoulos. Theyve also had six managers, Buck Martinez (inherited), Carlos Tosca, John Gibbons (twice), Cito Gaston and John Farrell. Over the 14 complete seasons, they have had five winning Junes and nine losing ones. Of those nine losing months of June, I can only classify a couple of them as season-wreckers. In 2008, after a great May, the Jays stumbled in June to a 10-16 mark. John Gibbons remembers it well because he was fired on 20th of that month and replaced by Cito Gaston. Cito went on to have one of those Junes of his own two years later in 2010. The Jays went 9-17 that month, though they recovered to finish at 85-77, albeit still winding up in fourth place in the tough American League East. Cito retired from his second stint as Blue Jays manager at the end of that season. In 2002, the Jays got off to a horrible 8-20 start under second-year skipper and now Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martinez. The team seemed to be coming around a bit and actually swept the Detroit Tigers in a three-game series that carried over in the start of June. But on June 3, Ricciardi fired Buck and promoted one of his own hires in bench coach Carlos Tosca to be manager. The Jays finished with a 15-12 record for that month. The Jays most common June record is 12-15. Four times they have hit those figures and once they just missed it, going 12-14 in 2009. The Jays best Junes in the Rogers era have been 15-11 in 2003, 16-11 in 2006 and 17-9 last season under Gibbons fuelled by that 11-game win streak. Even with that stellar month, the Jays still finished at 74-88, just one game better than the year before under John Farrell. In his four full season managing the Jays so far, Gibbons actually has a winning June record at 59-48, but I guess that une 2008 firing would make a man just a little wary. The season that sticks out in comparison to this year is 2010. The Jays, under Cito, were 31-22 at the end of May. Thats nine games over .500, exactly the same as this years edition were at 33-24. The 2010 team, as we mentioned, finished at 85-77, but didnt come close to making the post-season. So Gibbonss point is well taken. Even though, the Jays have equalled their best record through the end of May since Rogers took over they still have a long way to go - a four-month grind in fact - to try and earn their first playoff spot since 1993. - When the Tampa Bay Rays opted to keep lefty David Price in the off-season, it looked as though they were committed to winning this season. Many pundits, yours truly included, thought they actually had the talent to win the AL East. Now, thanks to injuries to pitchers Matt Moore, Jeremy Hellickson and Alex Cobb and a distinct lack of hitting, they have tumbled into the basement in the East at 23-34 after getting swept at Fenway over the weekend. Ben Zobrist, perhaps their most valuable player, is back off of the DL, as is Cobb, but now Wil Myers is on the disabled list with a sprained right wrist. It will be interesting to see between now and the deadline if the Rays put the blame for this season on the injuries or if they go into full rebuild mode and make Price the centrepiece of their wheeling and dealing. - The Boston Red Sox, on the other hand, have staged a dramatic recovery. After dropping 10 in a row and losing starters Felix Doubront and Clay Buchholz to the disabled list, as well as third baseman Will Middlebrooks, theyve turned around and won seven straight and have closed to within six games of the Blue Jays and two-and-a-half of the second Wild Card slot. - The Baltimore Orioles are breathing a huge sigh of relief. Nelson Cruz got nailed on the left hand by a Scott Feldman pitch on Sunday versus the Houston Astros and had to leave the game after just one at-bat. Fortunately, the x-rays were negative. Cruz is turning out to be the biggest bargain basement pick-up of the off-season. The 33-year-old slugger, in the wake of his PED suspension, left the Texas Rangers as a free agent and signed late with Baltimore on a one-year deal worth $8 million. Cruz leads the Bigs with 20 homers and 52 runs batted in, just ahead of the Jays Edwin Encarnacion who has 19 roundtrippers and 50 runs batted in. Cruz is putting up career numbers in a contract year. He has never hit more than 33 home runs in a season and has never driven in more than 90 in a campaign. Barring an injury, he should easily surpass both totals and help keep the Os in the East race all season long. - If the season ended today and, of course, it doesnt, the Blue Jays would play the Detroit Tigers in the American League Divisional Series and would have home field advantage in the series. That would be a dream match-up in these parts and adds a little bit of drama for their upcoming three-game set starting Tuesday night at Comerica Park. The Jays will be sending Drew Hutchison, R.A. Dickey and J.A. Happ up against Anibal Sanchez, Rick Porcello and Justin Verlander. Wilson Chandler Jersey . MESA, Ariz. Cheap Adidas NHL Jerseys . -- Jeff Samardzija isnt sure where hell be by the end of the season. Hes a good candidate to be traded by the Chicago Cubs given his one-year contract and hes determined to pitch well whether he stays put or gets dealt. "I know if I do my part and do what I expect of myself and what the team expects of me, then everything else is clear about what the future holds," Samardzija said. "All I can do is increase my value as much as possible, and I think in the end, its going to help the organization no matter what. Either it helps the organization by keeping me here and proving that Im that guy, or I increase my value and help them get prospects in return." For now a cloud hovers over him. As pitchers and catchers worked out for the first time on Friday, Samardzija stared at an uncertain future. Failed attempts at a long-term contract led to trade talks and, ultimately, a one-year agreement worth $5,345,000 to avoid arbitration on Saturday -- two days before his scheduled hearing. Samardzija wouldnt reveal how wide the gap is for a longer contract. "If there wasnt a gap we would have already signed," he said. "But both sides are justified. Its not like anyones asking for some outlandish concept. I understand where theyre coming from. They understand where Im coming from. Thats really all there is to say." Are they still discussing a multi-year deal? "Were not really going to talk about that," he said. "Were about this season. Were looking to get ready to compete and win some ballgames. We dont want any distractions whether its with that or the trade talks or this or that. To me, its a no-comment. Im out there getting ready to do my thing and, like I said before, put no doubt in anybodys minds about who I am or what I can be for this team or this organization." The 29-year-old Samardzija is coming off an unremarkable season that saw him go 8-13 with a 4.34 ERA, but he was one of only 10 pitchers with at least 200 innings and 200 strikeouts. Hes also not eligible for free agency until 2015, an added plus for potential suitors. And with the Cubs in a rebuilding mode, his days in Chicago could be winding down. "You address it because its going to be talked about," new manager Rick Renteria said. "What were going to try to do is make him understand that the only thing that is significantly important to him is what he does between the lines." Saturday was a great day for the Black Cats as they twice came from behind to secure a stunning 3-2 win over Chelsea at the Stadium of Light, while relegation rivals Newcastle and Norwich picked up just a point between them. The confluence of results means that another victory for Sunderland at home to Everton on Wednesday - live on Sky Sports - would guarantee their survival. Roberto Martinezs men are winding down what is seen in many quarters as a disappointing season and they never looked like crashing Leicesters title-winning party on Saturday, conceding an early goal and slipping to a 3-1 defeat. I hope there is not a feeling out there that this game is a foregone conclusion. It will be anything but.
