Anybody can do that. . . .A few days after Washington cornerback Josh Norman used that line in describing Dak Prescott‘s perfect passer rating against the Giants last week Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , the Cowboys quarterback picked Washington apart.Prescott had a career-long 42-yard run and 69 total rushing yards and completed 26 of 30 passes for 269 yards with three touchdowns and an interception for a passer rating of 123.5. That came after a 4-for-6 start for 19 yards and an interception in the first quarter. He completed 18 consecutive passes and all 14 in the second half. Brandon Weeden holds the team record with 21 consecutive completions in 2015.The Cowboys scored on five consecutive possessions — four touchdowns and settled for a field goal after having a Tony Pollard touchdown negated by penalty.Four different players scored touchdowns for Dallas: Devin Smith, Jason Witten, Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott. Here we go! Nearly a month ago T. J. Watt Jersey , the Steelers sat at 1-4 and most of Steeler Nation was lamenting the loss of a “top five” draft pick dealt away to Miami in the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade. Now the black-and-gold have an opportunity to beat a quality opponent in the form of the Indianapolis Colts and even their record at 4-4. Join me, won’t you, as we relive the game in real time.Nonetheless, a simple reminder, a knee jerk reaction is an immediate and unthinking, emotional reaction. It’s basically shooting first and apologizing later. I can safely say that’s a true definition of your’s truly and a good lot of Steeler Nation. Here’s my real-time reactions during the Steelers’ quest for a record of .500 after starting off 1-4.Quarter 1Looks like a gorgeous day to be at the ball field.Love how the first image you see is Donte Moncrief catching a TD for the Colts against the Steelers in 2017.First pass wasn’t an interception. That’s nice.Good hookup between No. 2 and No. 19.That short stuff to Samuels is going to be huge and has to happen all day, especially if they can’t get any rush yards.Going deep. Just missed. Thought JuJu should have had it.I’m surprised on the interception. Thought it was going to be a nice first down. That pick was on JuJu. Tough to blame Mason on that one. But it goes against him. Can’t let them return a pick 35 yards. Insult to injury.Mack is going to be tough to stop.Watt helped slow Brissett down for Williams to get the sack there. But he really blew his own sack opportunity. With a good Colts defense Jerome Bettis Jersey White , They gotta hold them here to three.Bud with a great tackle from behind. That could be a sack. Wearing his jersey today.Lucky on that. Barron was leaving a guy wide open.Down only 3-0. I guess I’ll take it.Trey Edmunds with a gargantuan 45-yard run. He might be the better pure rushing option, while JSam is a great receiving option.Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY SportsThey might look at that clutch catch to JWash.Smart going for the quick snap. Didn’t need to though. It was a catch. They really blew a TD chance there. Mason could have run forward on third down.Boswell is true. 3-3.Losing their center Kelly is a huge deal.Allowed too much of a return there. Nice play by Dangerfield. Wish they would have gotten it back.Haden is allowing way too much of a cushion. Not even in the same zip code.Steelers aren’t tackling well.End of one. Knotted at three.Quarter 2They are shredding the defense.Oh that’s not good. Brissett is hurt. Here comes Hoyer. Definitely plays well against Pittsburgh. And a TD just like that. Crap. 10-3.Of course, a hold on a return.Great grab on a bad throw by No. 13. Good poise by Rudy. He got walloped and hung in there.Edmunds running hard. Will we see Tony Brooks-James get a carry?Stupid play call on 4th down. You can’t do that. They are letting Mack chew up to much of this game.Haden with a timely breakup. Now hold here. And they didn’t. Defense is disappointing today.Minkahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY SportsLove it. 10-10.Not an iffy call. Four seconds too late. TJ can’t do that. They are near the touchdown zone again.Just like that. Bring back Brissett. 17-10.Pardon me. 16-10. Heyward with the big block. That could be huge later. That didn’t work. Wait there’s a flag.Helmet-to-helmet. Lets see Boz convert here. That was huge. Huge I tell you.End of two. Kind of a crazy game. 16-13 Colts.Quarter 3They can’t let the Colts on the board on this first drive,They aren’t tackling. Too busy trying to blow people up.Big sack by Barron.Wait! I think that was Watt.Ridiculous to let them to convert a third and long.Good coverage by Bush.Huge strip sack. This Bud is for all of us.This is a decent drive. If they call Kelly for a personal foul while on the sideline, I’ll go nuts.Good. We will take the 15.Scary throw to Samuels for the third down. Gotta get in the end zone here. Mason is scaring me.Yes. Gotta love the Vanimal. Mason looked the part there on the TD. 20-16.Photo by Joe Sargent/Getty ImagesTold you all that Mack is dangerous.Bush on coverage.Lewinsky with illegal use of the hands. Not first time that’s ever been said.Laundry day for the Colts all of a sudden Can’t let them convert a 3rd and 24.Pinned down on the one. No mistakes. Move the chains,Nice first run by Edmunds.Safety...crap. Big Al got beat bad and No. 2 held on way to long.Now. They get the ball back. Gotta hold here.Yes!!!!!!! Steelers ball.Trey Edmunds cracked him and Ola knocked it loose.Just run the ball.Missed opportunity. End of three. 20-18 Steelers.Quarter 4Boswell = true. 23-18.Great pursuit by Watt.Good defense. Major stop. The Steelers need an eight minute TD drive.I like the idea of the reverse. Not working. That fumble is gonna kill them. Damnuels.Mack is a monster.Haden with a huge tackle.Gotta stop them on third down.Bad tackling. Heyward had a sack.Crap. They got it on fourth down. Ridiculous. Who the hell is Chester Rogers?Going for two. Big stop by Terrell Edmunds. 24-23 for the bad guys. What a catch by Washington. That is a big deal. Gotta keep it going,Ugly pass. They called the PI.I’d go snap it fast. They are challenging. Hmmmmmmm? No dice.Steelers are suspect in the Red Zone.Hate the play calling and the lack of execution.Steelers 26 Colts 24. I actually called this score on the Steelers Preview.Nelson loses his shoe. Here comes Artie Burns.Timely sack by Hilton.Watt. I ❤️ you. Tremendous sack.Gotta stop them.Definitely decline it.You gotta flag that hit on Switzer.Well maybe that wasn’t a good reason for a flag. But I will take it.Gotta get at least two or three firsts.Play calling is so predictable.Wait! What?Incomplete pass.Defense is going to have to win this game. But can they?Good stick by Haden.Lets do it.Bud and Vinny in there. Big third down.Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!That ball was uncatchable. Nelson bumped him.You have to challenge this James Conner Jersey White ,This rule sucks.Buckle down now.i can’t believe this. This won’t get reversed.Need some magic here. What a great stop. Need to block this.Oh my God. He missed it!!!Zach Banner kneel down time. What a game!Final score: 26-24. BAD called it.Once again, I just shot first and I’ll apologize later. All reactions were in real time. if I hadn’t been blacklisted by the major networks. Now time to watch it again and see what really happened. Make sure you get your voice heard in the comments below. COOPERSTOWN Womens Antonio Brown Jersey , N.Y. (AP) — Lee Smith had seen the Hall of Fame several times. This visit was completely different.“I’m still in awe,” Smith said after the tour Tuesday, in preparation for his July induction. “Whenever I sign an autograph and someone says, ‘Hey, put Hall of Fame on it,’ I don’t know if the Hall of Fame goes first or the year goes first.”Smith, who emerged as an ace reliever with the Chicago Cubs in the 1980s, and former White Sox star Harold Baines were voted into the baseball shrine in December by a select committee. They will be inducted along with Mariano Rivera, the late Roy Halladay, Mike Mussina, and Edgar Martinez, who were elected last month by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. The 61-year-old Smith was at the 2009 Hall of Fame induction of Rickey Henderson, Jim Rice and Joe Gordon. But this time was overwhelming as the monumental aspect of his upcoming enshrinement was still sinking in.Smith appeared on the BBWAA ballot 15 times and never came close.“It was unbelievable just to get that call. You wait so many years,” Smith said. “When I first retired, people told me I was going to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. I’ve got goosebumps. I’ve never been nervous before, but I’m nervous right now.“It’s been crazy,” he said. “There’s a lot of this stuff here I already knew, especially about the Negro League and guys I played with and against. But being here is like no game you’ve ever been in before.”With his menacing stare and hard fastball, Smith was of baseball’s premier closers in the 1980s and 1990s, an imposing 6-foot-5 atop a pitching mound. During an 18-year career, he pitched for eight teams, making his initial mark with the Cubs from 1980-87. He also pitched for the Red Sox (1988-90), Cardinals (1990-92), Yankees (1993), Orioles (1994) Antonio Brown Jersey White , Angels (1995), Reds (1996) and Expos (1997), and was the all-time saves leader with 478 when he retired in 1997.A seven-time All-Star, Smith led his league in saves four times and topped the 30-save mark 11 times. Smith held the all-time saves record until Hall of Famer Trevor Hoffman eclipsed it in 2006 and now ranks third behind Rivera (652) and Trevor Hoffman (601).“Everybody recognizes me now because of the Hall of Fame,” said Smith, a minor league pitching coach with San Francisco. “Back in the day I had an identity crisis because in Chicago everybody wanted to throw me on the football field because I was such a big guy. I don’t have that problem anymore. Now they know who Lee Smith is. I’m proud of that.”Smith spent an inquisitive two hours touring the Hall of Fame. While viewing the “Pride and Passion” exhibit dedicated to the African-American baseball experience, Smith told a story from his high school days in Louisiana. Soon after it was desegregated, he said, an opposing team hung Smith in effigy when his school visited. With an early lead, Smith said he began hitting batter after batter. He didn’t even realize, he added, when the other team eventually took the offending image down from a tree. Yes, the Raiders would be the perfect choice for . For a variety of reasons. One of which is that coach Jon Gruden likely will contradict himself. Possibly on multiple occasions. He’s already at it. in presiding over the relationship between quarterback Derek Carr and receiver Antonio Brown.“I’m not going to get into the relationship business,” Gruden said. “I think Brown is a great guy. I love having him here. Derek is a great guy. You can’t rush a relationship. You just don’t have a great relationship in three weeks or two months. It’s something that you’ve got to earn and you’ve got to really work and, and that’s why it’s important that we spend time together. I’m a little worn out with all the relationships and all the things that really don’t matter right now.”And, of course, comments emerged this week from Gruden regarding his decision to put Brown and linebacker Vontaze Burfict on the same team for an in-house game of .“You gotta try to get these guys to know each other,” Gruden told Peter King. “This is the only time that you can really do that. April, May, June. It’s almost like church. Everybody stand up. Shake a hand, introduce yourself to your teammates. Otherwise, Peter never gets to know Jon and Jon never meets Joe.”So Gruden isn’t in the relationship business. Except when he is.Here’s hoping he’ll be in the business.
Former Broncos and Texans wide receiver Demaryius Thomas pleaded guilty to a careless driving charge on Wednesday. The charge stemmed from a February 16 car crash that saw Thomas’ car roll over after hitting a median. Thomas was going 70 mph in a 30 mph zone at the time of the crash according to Denver police. Thomas and a male passenger suffered minor injuries while a female passenger suffered more serious injuries.A felony charge of vehicular assault was dismissed as part of the plea. Thomas was sentenced to one year of probation Joe Flacco Jersey , 50 hours of community service and fines.“It was important for me to accept responsibility for my careless driving. I personally promise I will never again put anyone at risk with that type of driving going forward,” Thomas said in a statement, via .Thomas was released by the Texans in February with a failed physical designation. He tore his Achilles late last season.Week 15 in Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs, but they’ll be down some key plays on both lines. On the defense line Bradley Chubb Jersey White , they’ll be missing DeMarcus Walker, Adam Gotsis, and rookie Dre’Mont Jones. They have activated Kyle Peko this week fresh off the street to help with the defensive line rotation. To add to that, they will also be missing Ja’Wuan James again this week and also Ron Leary. So the offensive line will be down some starters as well.Having several inches of snow on the ground with more on the way may help or hurt the situation Womens Dre'Mont Jones Jersey , but hopefully it’ll help by slowing everyone down a bit. ASHBURN Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , Va. (AP)As Josh Norman’s eyes darted back and forth, they kept going back to the TV showing NFL games unfolding in real time. Minutes after a rare Sunday afternoon practice wrapped up, the Washington Redskins cornerback couldn’t help but marvel at another turnover the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles forced in their rout of the Chicago Bears. ”They got another little turnover?” Norman said. ”Man. Our division’s so hard, but it’s OK. I’ll tell you what, our division’s so hard.” The bruised and battered Redskins aren’t catching the 10-1 Eagles, though their challenge is made even harder by a wacky schedule. As much of the rest of the NFL was playing games, the Redskins practiced in preparation for their second half of back-to-back Thursday night games when they visit the Dallas Cowboys. ”It’s kind of tough because this typically is a day you’re playing, but you’re out there full-tilt practicing, hitting hard and stuff like that,” defensive lineman Ziggy Hood said. ”Coach (Jay Gruden), he took care of us, making sure that everybody’s getting their work in, but he didn’t want to put too much strain on (our) bodies.” The strain is already there for Washington, which has 15 players on injured reserve, including top two running backs Rob Kelley and Chris Thompson. The Redskins (5-6) are hoping to get a few injured players back to face Dallas, though playing three games in 12 days is not much help. Left tackle Trent Williams (knee), tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring) and safety Montae Nicholson (concussion) were among the players who didn’t practice Sunday. Gruden said Reed, who has missed four games in a row, is ”doing better,” but his is one of more than a dozen ailments bad enough to get listed on the injury report last week. ”Everybody’s hurt, banged up,” said linebacker Zach Brown, who has been listed with back, foot and Achilles tendon injuries. ”You got to take care of your body. You just can’t do a lot of stuff. You’ve got to rest, get massages, treatment, ice. You’ve got to just do stuff to try to get your body right for Thursday. Even on Thursday you’re still going to be sore a lot.” Norman couldn’t remember a previous Thursday to Thursday situation in his six-year NFL career. The Cowboys did it last year at this time, so coach Jason Garrett has a feel for the tempo of the week. ”You just kind of get yourself locked in,” Garrett said by conference call Sunday. ”Thursday to Thursday actually is the normal work week, so you can kind of get back into the flow of things. Today is Wednesday for us. You kind of get yourself on that body clock and just move forward.” Redskins players strapped the pads for practice for the first time in a while as everyone tried to trick themselves into thinking it was the middle of a normal week. In light of the schedule crunch, Gruden shortened practice and said it wasn’t the most energetic gathering of professional football players. That was expected. ”It was more about getting our pads back on a little bit early in the practice, getting our fundamentals down, taking a look at some of these new guys who we haven’t seen a whole lot, getting some work in,” Gruden said. ”We got our work in. It was more of a mental day. The physical part of it was pretty good. These guys are a little worn out right now.” Even with all the injuries, Washington still has chance, albeit a long shot, to make the playoffs. Norman went so far as to call it a blessing – one that would’ve been even better had the Redskins not blown a late lead at New Orleans in Week 11. ”It’s a very humbling experience since the fact of losing all those guys and we’re still in the thick of things,” Norman said. ”You take away all the dust and the smoke and everything else that people really say about this team and you see what type of fighters and guys we get off the street and come in and play and still win games, it’s pretty great. It’s a pretty amazing, remarkable feat.” — The same day one quarterback passed for 405 yards and four touchdowns, another threw for 380 yards and three touchdowns. They’ll meet Sunday, but couldn’t be in more different positions. Dak Prescott is on the verge of a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys that could guarantee him over $30 million, while Case Keenum is a temporary placeholder for the Washington Redskins until first-round pick Dwayne Haskins is ready.Prescott leads the favored Cowboys into the Redskins’ home opener fresh off a perfect 158.3 QB rating in a Week 1 rout of the New York Giants that took pressure off running back Ezekiel Elliott. Owner Jerry Jones called a new contract for Prescott “imminent,” but the fourth-year signal caller is focusing on Washington and not looking back.“I’m so on to the Redskins at this point that I’m off of that game Dwayne Haskins Jersey White ,” Prescott said. “You can’t sit back and hang your hat on something like that or hang your hat on one game. It was a good performance for us to go out and do that in the passing game, obviously win that game the way that we did, but it’s about turning the page.”Prescott faces a defense that could be without lineman Jonathan Allen, weakening a front seven that should’ve been able to put more pressure on the pocket than the Giants did. Washington struggled at that against Carson Wentz, too, when Allen left with a knee injury, and getting to Prescott is the only way to keep him from throwing wild.“You stand back there in the pocket all day and go through your first, second and third reads and come back to your first one, OK, cool. Anybody can do that,” Redskins cornerback Josh Norman said. “At the end of the day, he’s been playing well. As you can see, he’s evolved. He’s growing in the system. He’s just taking his keys and picking his targets and throwing the ball on time.”Keenum found tight end Vernon Davis for 48 yards and rookie receiver Terry McLaurin for 69 yards on touchdown passes in the 32-27 season opening loss . He was largely done in by a lack of an effective running game, which will look very different this week with Adrian Peterson back from a healthy scratch and Derrius Guice on the shelf after knee surgery .“I don’t think we skip a beat with whoever is in there,” Keenum said.REED TIMEThe Redskins are expected to have Jordan Reed back after their top tight end missed the opener with a concussion. Washington put Reed insurance J.P. Holtz on waivers and lost him to Chicago, and Reed is trending toward being in the lineup Sunday.“Obviously, he’s been a great player for them for a number of years,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. “He’s a mismatch player in the passing game. He’s just really hard to cover and can run a variety of routes. He can beat you in a lot of different ways. So he’s a great challenge.”ZEKE’S LOADElliott says he’s ready for a “normal workload” after getting about half of the touches he’s used to in the opener. The two-time rushing champion missed the entire preseason in a holdout. His first practice was four days before the 35-17 win over the Giants, the same day he signed a $90 million, six-year extension.Elliott, who averaged 25 touches per game his first three seasons, had 13 carries for 53 yards and one catch for 10 against New York. He tried to stay in shape in Mexico during a holdout that ended on its 41st day.“There is a difference between going out there running around and not being hit and then being hit and having to come back and do the same things,” Elliott said. “So being hit takes a little more out of you. But I think I’m good.”STILL NO TRENTThe Redskins will be without Trent Williams yet again as the starting left tackle’s holdout continues. Peterson, who co-owns a Houston gym with Williams, didn’t get a chance to see his good friend last week but has stayed in touch.“I wish I would see more of him,” Peterson said. “I’ve talked to him, but it wasn’t even about football. Just life, checking in, what he had going and a couple things around the gym, but that’s about it.”EASING BACK INThe Cowboys had four defensive starters miss all four preseason games while also getting limited work in practice. Each played less than half of the opener, led by star DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder surgery) at 46% of the snaps.Fellow defensive end Tyrone Crawford (hip injury), cornerback Byron Jones (hip surgery) and linebacker Sean Lee (knee injury early in training camp) are the others easing their way back, with the Cowboys having to decide how much more playing time they get.“I don’t feel like I’m still all the way back,” said Lawrence, who had half of Dallas’ only sack of Eli Manning. “It’s so much that comes into this game that you have really go through the drills every day in order to get the feel for it. but it’s still not good enough yet.”SPREADING IT AROUNDEven with limited carries, Elliott is helping the passing game with his presence. Prescott had five completions of 25 yards or longer involving four receivers against the Giants.Michael Gallup, who had career highs of seven catches for 158 yards, was the only one of the four without a touchdown. But the second-year player was also the only one with multiple catches of 25-plus yards, including the longest at 62 to set up Elliott’s 10-yard touchdown.Amari Cooper had a 45-yard catch and a 21-yard TD, while Randall Cobb (25 yards) and tight end Blake Jarwin (28) were wide open on their touchdowns“I think that’s like a defense’s worst nightmare when everybody is making plays,” said Cooper, who had 106 yards on six catches. “How can you game plan against that? How can you make adjustments? What are you going to do?”
Antonio Brown was traded from the Steelers to the Raiders in part because of his relationships with coaches and teammates in Pittsburgh. In Oakland https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , his coach says he’s not going to concern himself with that.Raiders coach Jon Gruden said Brown and Derek Carr will build a relationship in time, and Gruden isn’t worried about it.“I’m not going to get into the relationship business,” Gruden said. “I think Brown is a great guy. I love having him here. Derek is a great guy. You can’t rush a relationship. You just don’t have a great relationship in three weeks or two months. It’s something that you’ve got to earn and you’ve got to really work and, and that’s why it’s important that we spend time together. I’m a little worn out with all the relationships and all the things that really don’t matter right now.”Brown declined to attend the start of Organized Team Activities in Oakland, which Gruden also said was not a problem. The Seahawks showed interest in Antonio Brown before the receiver signed with the Patriots. Brown is a free agent again, 13 days later. So do the Seahawks, who spoke with Brown after the Raiders cut him, have interest in the Pro Bowler this time around?Coach Pete Carroll said no without using the word. “We’re pretty well set right now,” Carroll said Friday, via Gregg Bell of the . “We kind of know where we’re going with that.”Carroll admitted 11 days ago that the Seahawks had “checked into” Brown, saying “Why wouldn’t you Derek Carr Jersey White , you know? He’s a great player.”Since the Seahawks’ initial interest, Brown was sued for sexual assault and rape and attempted to intimidate a second accuser who came forward earlier this week in comments to SI.com. The Seahawks’ due diligence on Brown also came before they had seen rookie D.K.. Metcalf has seven catches for 150 yards and a touchdown in two games.Carroll’s reaction was similar to those of Sean Payton and Sean McVay, who were asked about their interest in Brown.“Right now, where we are . . .I like our depth at that position,” Payton said, via Dianna Russini of ESPN. “I haven’t paid much attention. I’m focused on the guys here.”McVay initially expressed surprise at his press conference when told of Brown’s release and then essentially repeated what Carroll and Payton said. “You always look into things,” McVay said, via quotes distributed by the team. “We evaluate, but with the situation we have specific to the receiver position, we couldn’t be happier with the guys that we do have.”

It’s a far cry from last week, when the Stallions played in a driving snowstorm, falling at home to Orlando. The Fleet will once again make Mike Bercovici under center this week, his first time back since getting knocked out of the Week 1 game against San Antonio by a vicious hit. Bercovici will look to show he’s grown in his mastery of head coach Mike Martz’ complex offense. The Stallions have won only a single game so far, in Week 3 against Arizona, but all their games have been competitive and usually within one score. Can the team from Utah overcome their offensive woes and get a commanding win today? The game will be on at 5 p.m. Pacific on NFL Network. Raider Nation actually surprisingly grounded about over/under on Raiders win total for 2019New,106commentsPDTGive the fans a number of expected wins and you can bet they will pick the over. They may not put money on it, but their optimism knows no rival. To test this, SB Nation put out FanPulse surveys to fans of all 32 NFL teams with the over/under as Vegas oddsmakers see it and asked if they thought their team would go over, under Bo Jackson Jersey , or push. The results showed that few teams’ fans are more realistic and/or grounded about their team’s outlook this season than Raider Nation.Don’t get me wrong, they were still strongly for the over — 72% of you said the Raiders would do better than the 6-win mark — but that is about as grounded as fans get.Only seven teams’ fans had a lower percentage on the over than the Raiders. Only three of those had the line of 6 wins or fewer — the Cardinals (5), Giants (6), and Dolphins (5). Not surprisingly, all three made major quarterback additions during the draft. The other two teams to make QB changes in the first two rounds of the draft were Washington (Dwayne Haskins) and Denver (Drew Lock). Washington fans have them at 85% over the 6.5-point win total, while the notoriously delusional Broncos fanbase sits at 86% over the 7-win mark — easily the highest expectations of any team to pick up a quarterback in the first two rounds. For some perspective here, 11 teams’ fans are at 90% or higher picking the over and 17 have are at 80% or more. Only two teams’ fans have less than 50% on the over — the Giants (48%) and Dolphins (31%).Back in early April, when these lines first came out, I put out a piece detailing reasons both to bet the over and the under and asked readers to choose over, under, or push. The results were a little bit more on the over than the recent FanPulse, but still not unrealistic. At 79% for the over, that would still have Raiders fans in the bottom half of fans in the FanPulse survey. Call it cautiously optimistic. If you’d like to take part in future FanPulse surveys, you can opt in here.
Tales from the Tape: Justin Simmons https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-drew-lock-jersey , the do-it-all defensive back, is looking good this preseason Regular season play is nearly here! There’s plenty to talk about from a roster construction standpoint as the fourth preseason game approaches and the bubble players vie for a few final spots on the 53-man roster, but I want to focus on the guys whose roster spots are not only safe, but are poised to make a big impact for the Denver Broncos in 2018. So, I’m slightly altering my usual “Tale of the Tape” series to bring you short, bite-sized breakdowns from the preseason, leading up to the NFL’s Week 1 kickoff.First up is one of my favorite Broncos: Justin Simmons. To me Simmons embodies exactly what you need in a modern NFL defender. He’s athletic, smart, and highly versatile - the last one perhaps being the most important.I have talked for awhile this off-season about how Simmons needs to be moved down to more of a roaming match-up safety, while Darian Stewart needs to go back up high as the traditional free safety. I was a bit disappointed when Simmons played the first two preseason games mostly up high as a free safety. However, in the “dress rehearsal” third preseason game, when the team is actually game-planning and implementing some of the schemes they’ll employ in the regular season, we began to see Denver’s plan for Simmons unfold. They played Simmons exactly where he should be played - everywhere.I dug into the snap count from Friday night’s game and Simmons had 33 total snaps. Here is where he lined up for those:In the Box - 12 snapsSingle high - 11 snapsSlot - 5Two high - 5Simmons had a nearly even split of snaps at the “free safety” and “strong safety” spots and spent some time covering the slot as well. This is a perfect use of his skillset, using him as a Swiss Army knife all over the field as the match-ups dictate. If you’re worried how Simmons held up in the box in run support, don’t be. Simmons is gap sound, a sure tackler Dalton Risner Jersey , and not afraid to stick his nose in there in the running game. He took on Adrian Peterson, who ran very well Friday night, several times and helped make key stops.Above, he matches up in the hole against a wide receiver who attempts to lead block, and Simmons absolutely blows this play up, forcing Peterson outside into the waiting arms of Bradley Chubb. This one won’t show up on the stat sheet as anything, but this play is made because of Simmons. The next one is Simmons crashing down upon reading run, and making the tackle himself for a one yard gain. We are limited on preseason footage so it’s not the best angle, but you can clearly see Simmons’ decisiveness and tenacity playing around the line scrimmage. If you can’t tell, he’s the guy holding onto the running back after the pile clears. Not bad for a guy who can also kick out and man up in the slot. Speaking of which. This was a look Denver implemented occasionally, and I think we’ll see them go to it quite frequently depending on the match-up.Denver is in their base defense, but Simmons drops down into the slot to man up the receiver. This particular time, the offense is in 21 personnel (2 backs, 1 TE) so Chris Harris is actually free/covering the tight end on the far side, but they have used this against 11 personnel as well. This can be especially effective against teams that like to run out of 11 personnel as it allows Denver to keep their run stoppers on the field and have a full box, but also match-up well across the board against the wide receivers. Wade Phillips ran a version of this a few times with Roby Womens Noah Fant Jersey , Talib, and Harris in a base package with only one safety. This is essentially that with Simmons functioning as the slot corner. This play he isn’t lined up in the slot, but he’ll end up covering a crossing receiver. He’s playing essentially as a linebacker here in the box. Simmons shows his play recognition and awareness as he communicates with the secondary, calling out assignments after the ball has been snapped, and then blankets the short crosser on 3rd down.Lastly, my favorite play of the preseason. This play just blew me away and almost deserves its own separate breakdown.Denver’s struggles against tight ends and running backs have been well documented by myself and others here. One of the biggest issues covering backs out of the backfield is that the defender is flat-footed since he is waiting for the back to come to him, and the back also has a two-way go, meaning they can break either direction.Quick outs and flat routes are easy money and easy YAC for offenses, so defenders have to be watching for those all the time. Both Will Parks and Brandon Marshall were burned for touchdowns on these routes last year.As a result, the Texas route, where backs start outside, then break inside is even harder for a linebacker or a safety to stop as they often over-commit to the outside route. We saw Todd Davis give up a touchdown on this very route last year.Which is why Simmons not only stopping this route, but jumping it for a pick is so impressive. Check this out above. He should be beat on this route, which is why the quarterback anticipates and throws it. He goes from running hard towards the numbers to cutoff the outside, to flipping his hips and changing direction in an instant after recognizing the route, and jumping it for an interception. That’s special. It’s actually very reminiscent of Su’a Cravens’ pick on the exact same route in 2016 that I was so impressed with. If Denver can get both of these guys on the field together and continue to unleash Simmons in a variety of ways Womens Bradley Chubb Jersey , they should be much better off not only against running backs and tight ends, but in the passing game in general.I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that Simmons can be a top 2 or 3 defender for Denver this coming season.Next up, we’ll take a look at Emmanuel Sanders and where he has been lining up. Stay tuned! Also, let me know in the comments if there’s a player or particular aspect you would like me to look at over the next week leading up to Week 1. The 2015-16 season was not very long ago and Denver Broncos fans have long memories. When Gary Kubiak abruptly retired after the 2016 season due to health reasons, many fans commented that he likely used that as an excuse to avoid firing his close friends on the coaching staff. Friends like Rick Dennison. to step down doesn’t really matter now, but what does matter is that just two days ago Kubiak was lining up to take over as offensive coordinator for the Broncos under new head coach Vic Fangio. Then on Friday, all Hell broke loose in Dove Valley.Word came through that Kubiak and the Broncos front office had come to an impasse and was out as offensive coordinator and probably out of the organization entirely. Why?Because the franchise wasn’t interested in bringing back Rick Dennison and another assistant they had fired just two years ago. Once this all came out, it was clear fans turned on Kubiak pretty quickly and the Broncos front office has easily won whatever PR battle there might have been over this fiasco. I am sad to see Kubiak go, but as a fan I had no interest in reviving the same old bullshit we saw in 2015-16. The NFL is evolving and it is time to evolve with some fresh faces and fresh ideas. Since that isn’t what Kubiak had in mind, I am glad John Elway and Fangio made the tough decision and stood their ground.Kubiak will remain among the Mt. Rushmore of Broncos front office people along with Pat Bowlen, John Elway, Mike Shanahan and even Dan Reeves, but for now it looks like he’ll need to go find work elsewhere. For the Broncos, they look like they mean business when it comes to charging head-long into the future. All they need now is a damn quarterback. Horse TracksNFL News

With two players ruled out on the Pittsburgh Steelers final injury report of the week on Wednesday JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , it should come as no surprise to learn that both Marcus Gilbert and Daniel McCullers find themselves on the inactives list for Week 10. While McCullers will miss only his first game of the year with an ankle injury, Gilbert will miss his third consecutive game of the season due to a knee injury. As always, one man’s misfortune is another man’s gain as Matt Feiler starts in place Gilbert and L.T. Walton gets a rare chance to suit up with McCullers sidelined. If there was a battle to be the fourth wide receiver on game day, it would appear that James Washington is currently winning that contest after Justin Hunter was the one listed among the inactives once again in Week 10. Mason Rudolph, Zach Banner https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-juju-smith-schuster-jersey , Brian Allen and Marcus Allen will fill their now familiar roles on game day, watching the game from the bench and supporting their teammates who are playing. The full list of inactive players for the Carolina Panthers: OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — A Pittsburgh Steelers team that kept finding ways to win during a six-game winning streak now has fallen short at the end for a third straight game.A slick field that led to kicker Chris Boswell losing his footing on a potential game-tying kick is to blame this time.Boswell missed a 40-yard attempt after the Steelers used a hook-and-lateral to get into position following Derek Carr’s go-ahead touchdown pass that sent Pittsburgh to a 24-21 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.“Sometimes it makes it worse when it’s right there,” quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said. “If you get blown out it doesn’t seem to hurt as bad as when you have a chance.”The Steelers (7-5-1) have sure had their chances during their current skid. Roethlisberger threw an interception at the goal line with just over a minute left of a 24-17 loss to Denver on Nov. 25 and Pittsburgh then lost last week when Mike Badgley made a field goal on the final play in a 33-30 victory for the Chargers last week. This week it was a missed kick by Pittsburgh that determined the outcome. Boswell also missed a 39-yard field goal against the Raiders (3-10) and has six missed field goals and five missed extra points for the most combined missed kicks in the NFL this season.Coach Mike Tomlin called Boswell’s slump disappointing and wouldn’t commit to sticking with his kicker long term.“He’s not the only one disappointed,” Boswell said. “I mean this is a business. You’re evaluated by results and I’m not getting it done right now so whatever happens from here happens.”The loss cost the Steelers a chance to open up some ground in the AFC North race with Baltimore. Womens James Conner Jersey , but have matchups with New England and at New Orleans the following two weeks.Roethlisberger almost led an impressive comeback after missing the first four series of the second half with a rib injury. He returned to the game after backup Joshua Dobbs failed to generate any points on four drives and Derek Carr gave Oakland a 17-14 lead with a 3-yard TD pass to Lee Smith with 5:20 to play.Big Ben then led a 75-yard drive capped by his second 1-yard TD pass of the game to JuJu Smith-Schuster, putting Pittsburgh on top 21-17 with 2:55 to go.But Roethlisberger was only a spectator as Carr drove the Raiders to the go-ahead score, a 6-yard pass on fourth down to Derek Carrier with 23 seconds left.“We’re there at the ball,” Tomlin said. “We’re not making plays on the ball. Probably equally as frustrating is we’re not making them and they are. It’s not like those balls are falling incomplete so we still have work to do.”Pittsburgh almost overcame that when Roethlisberger threw a short pass to James Washington for a 5-yard gain. Washington then flipped the ball to Smith-Schuster, who raced down the sideline for 43 more yards to set up Boswell’s kick that went right into the line when he lost his footing.“The field is the field T. J. Watt Jersey ,” he said. “You can’t complain about it. You can’t blame anything. It’s as bad as it is for me as it is for anyone else. You just have to find a way to put it through.”

They had the fewest amount of sacks in the NFL and gave up a ton of sacks themselves. One of the obvious focuses in free agency and the Draft was shoring up both the offensive and defensive lines. To that end, the Raiders signed tackle Trent Brown to help keep Derek Carr upright and have recently signed guard Richie Incognito to fill the hole left by trading Kelechi Osemele. The Raiders used the draft to acquire three pass-rushers: Clelin Ferrell in the first round, Maxx Crosby in the fourth, and project Quinton Bell in the seventh.Crosby this week was on the After Further Review Podcast on raiders.com, and he had plenty to say about using last year’s shortcomings as motivation for the 2019 Raider squad. “Yeah, we do talk about last year,” said Crosby. “We literally had it up in the weight room today. The number 13 and 52. That was how many sacks we got, which was lowest in the NFL, and 52 sacks allowed, which is, I think, right at the top. The coaches keep reiterating that, and it’s something that we look at as a challenge. Me, Clelin [Ferrell], Quinton [Bell], we’re all learning everything on the fly and trying to do everything we can to get on the field and make a name for ourselves, but at the same time, everybody’s in it together. We’re all trying to make that number completely different than last year, and obviously, for the offense, they are trying to protect the quarterback and be successful.”“It’s a good reminder to have Derek Carr Jersey White ,” Crosby continued. “For us as new guys, we’re going through a workout and things get tough, you think you can take a rep off, in the back our head we gotta know they brought us here for a reason, they believed in us, they invested in us. We’ve gotta bring our playing style to the table. I look at it as a challenge to raise that [sack] number, and Clelin and Quentin and the rest of the D-line are excited to go out and change that.”Earlier this week Paul Guenther referred to Crosby as a “Cadillac coming off the edge”, and PFF predicted that Crosby would take over the starting role at left defensive end and relegate Arden Key to situational pass-rushing duties. If Crosby keeps up the strong play he’s exhibited in practice so far, that could well come to fruition, and the Raiders with a line including Ferrell, Maurice Hurst and Crosby could exceed last year’s sack total by orders of magnitude. And of course, the Antonio Brown saga continues as he fought with the league over wearing his own very special helmet. The Broncos obviously have some roster work to do today Bradley Chubb Broncos Jersey , as they have one healthy quarterback on the roster. And they’re going to need another one for at least eight weeks.Broncos boss John Elway told reporters last night that rookie quarterback Drew Lock would be placed on injured reserve today because of his preseason thumb injury. That will keep him from practicing for at least six weeks and out of at least eight games, so they’ll have to find a backup for Joe Flacco since they released Kevin Hogan yesterday.“It’s not a year off for him,” Elway said of Lock, via Kyle Fredickson of the . “He’s going to be able to do everything other than being on the football field. different things there, too. I expect him to continue to work hard and get a good feel with everything and keep learning with the offense, understand what he’s doing there and be right in the middle of everything.”Elway also said that tight end Jake Butt and running back Theo Riddick would join Lock on injured reserve today, giving them three roster spots to add Von Miller Jersey White , in addition to any shuffling they may want to do with waiver claims. A crowd estimated at 500 honored Pat Bowlen in a service that lasted almost 90 minutes Monday afternoon, reports.Bowlen died June 13 at the age of 75.The family and Broncos hosted a public memorial service for the longtime team owner at the stadium last week. Monday’s service was closed to the media and the public. All seven of Bowlen’s children spoke, with John Finney, Bowlen’s friend of nearly 50 years, delivering the eulogy, according to .The team contingent included coach Vic Fangio, president/CEO Joe Ellis Royce Freeman Jersey , General Manager John Elway, team counsel Rich Slivka and kicker Brandon McManus, the newspaper reports. The Kansas City Chiefs are poised to head into the regular season with a defensive backfield that bears very little resemblance to the one that spent the offseason and training camp together. The Chiefs released eight players from their secondary on Saturday Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey , including underperforming cornerback David Amerson, as they trimmed their roster to the NFL's 53-man limit. They also were poised to add safety Ron Parker, who spent the past four seasons with Kansas City before joining Atlanta. He was released by the Falcons this past week and was visiting the Chiefs on Saturday.Throw in a trade with Dallas on Thursday night that landed cornerback Charvarius Ward, and another with Miami on Friday for safety Jordan Lucas, and that's quite the secondary overhaul."I think with every position we're always going to be looking to get better," Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said. "We're not going to look at a position and say, 'We're good there.' "Especially one where the Chiefs dealt away one of the league's biggest stars, Marcus Peters.Amerson was released by the Raiders before signing with Kansas City, where he was expected to solidify the secondary after Peters was sent to the Rams. But he was often burned in preseason games, and his release appeared imminent when the Chiefs traded for Ward during their preseason finale. They also added Kendall Fuller earlier this year, grabbing him from the Redskins in the trade for quarterback Alex Smith, and signed veteran Orlando Scandrick late in camp. Late-round pick Tremon Smith has shown flashes, too, giving the Chiefs an intriguing but unproven mix of talents."Kendall is a very talented player and can do a bunch of stuff, and Stevie (Nelson) is healthy. Last year he was hurt the first eight games," Veach said. "Tremon has shown he's making strides and if Charvarius can follow on that path, you have two young guys moving forward and a lot of arsenal in regards to picks and the salary cap moving forward."The Chiefs kept safety Daniel Sorensen on the 53-man roster, an indication they expect him back at some point this season. He broke a bone in his leg but was not placed on injured reserve. With the status of Eric Berry a bit uncertain 鈥?he missed most of training camp with a stubborn heel injury 鈥?it made sense that Veach would bring in Parker to solidify the safety spot."We're working through the process," Veach said, "but anytime you can add a guy who played here, knows the system, it's always going to be advantageous."Here are some of the other big takeaways from the Chiefs' roster cuts Saturday:LINEBACKER UPSETThe Chiefs kept undrafted rookie Ben Niemann over Ukeme Eligwe at middle linebacker, even though Eligwe was a fifth-round pick last year and started Week 17. Eligwe was among the players who protested during the national anthem https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-dwayne-haskins-jersey , though it appears that had nothing to do with his release."We had two teams call us about Ben," Veach said, "so we knew he wasn't going to get to the practice squad. If there was any indecision, the dialogue with teams basically told us there's no way we can move this guy because he's done so much."TIGHT ENDSThe Chiefs cut Jace Amaro and Tim Wright, leaving them only Travis Kelce and Alex Ellis for their Week 1 game against the Chargers. Demetrius Harris is suspended for the opener for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, and Veach said the Chiefs are content with three tight ends when he returns.OTHER COMPETITIONSMatt McGloin beat out Chase Litton for the No. 3 quarterback job, though Veach said the Chiefs hope to keep the undrafted rookie on the practice squad. Damien Williams and undrafted rookie Darrel Williams joined Kareem Hunt and Spencer Ware at running back, where Kerwynn Williams, Ray Lawry and Algernon Brown were released. The final wide receiver spot went to Marcus Kemp, who beat out a group that included Jehu Chesson, Gehrig Dieter and Jordan Smallwood.INJURED RESERVEThe only player placed on IR was wide receiver Byron Pringle, an undrafted rookie who surprised in training camp. In what might have been a fortuitous injury for the Chiefs, Pringle hurt a hamstring in their preseason finale, allowing them to keep him on IR this season. Washington coach Jay Gruden got to see both Case Keenum and Dwayne Haskins in action on Thursday night in Cleveland. He’s no closer to knowing who his starting quarterback will be.“I don’t want to make any — come to any conclusions right now,” Gruden told reporters on Saturday. “It’s silly to, so there’s still a lot of ball left to be played, lot of passes, lot of things, lot of situational work we still have to do, a couple more games left, three games left. There’s more work to be had.”The assembled reporters then came at it a different way, asking Gruden if he feels like he has a better idea as to who the starter will be now versus during the offseason program.“I feel the same,” Gruden said. “I’m hoping that somebody takes it over. That’s what we’re hoping for Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey , but all three of these guys are good players and they’re going to make their share of great throws and great plays. We just have to continue to monitor them and figure out who gives us the best chance at winning against Philly.”Gruden offered praise for both of the primary contenders who played against the Browns.“He came in there second quarter and put a couple back-to-back passes that were really nice out there,” “He had a couple of turnovers, which hurt him. The big thing is we’re trying to really get corrected is just everything — his fundamentals, protectionsm and all that stuff which will come. But, for his first game I thought he handled the pressure, the noise, the cadence, the huddle, the tempo I thought was really good, so there is a lot to build on. Obviously, some correctable things with everybody on offense. We’ll just go back to work.”Case Keenum received a positive review as well.“I was impressed,” Gruden said. “He had a big third-down scramble for first down, which was good. He kept the drive going against their [first-string] defense. We were first-and-10 at midfield and we had that unfortunate holding call which was or wasn’t a holding call. But I thought he moved the ball pretty well, had a big third-down-and-15 touchdown pass, saw the field, stepped up and threw a nice touchdown. Good things by Case as well.”Eventually, it will be Colt McCoy, Keenum, or Haskins starting the opening game against the Eagles. It’s hard not to think that, eventually, more than one of them will be playing. If not all three.

EDTShareTweetShareShareReviewing the NFL rules regarding Practice Squad eligibilityPhilip G. Pavely-USA TODAY SportsDo you have a statistics question (either large or small) about the Steelers or NFL football? Send them in to BTSC’s stat geek at STLRSuperFanDad@gmail.com and I’ll see what I can find. In this installment, the in’s and out’s of rules for NFL practice squads are discussed. Keith from Waynesville, NC (Originally from Clairton)I saw an article that mentioned a player “qualified for the practice squad”. What are the rules governing assignment? Can they move to the regular roster, do they travel with the team, can they bounce back and forth from team to PS, do they get benefits and NFL accrued time, can other NFL teams pick them up between being on the roster and assignment to the PS, etc.? More info about this would be good. Rather than answer each question specifically, I’m just going to give you all the information I can about the practice squad and hopefully it covers everything.NFL practice squads consist of up to 10 players unless the team has an international exemption (which the Steelers do for 2019) and can therefore carry 11. Only certain players are eligible for each team’s practice squad. It is possible a player could be eligible for the practice squad of one NFL team and not another Jerome Bettis Jersey White , but the scenario is highly unlikely. If a team does not carry 53 players on their active roster for every week of the NFL season the year before, that particular franchise can only carry players in their first two years of practice squad eligibility rather than three years. I’m not sure a team has actually done this for quite some time, so it does not really factor into practice squad eligibility often. It is basically used as an incentive for teams to keep 53 players on the roster rather than try to save money by not carrying a player who would otherwise be inactive on game day.Players are practice squad eligible for up to three years. A player uses a year of practice squad eligibility if they receive a paycheck for six weeks (either regular season, bye week, or playoffs) for either of their first two years of eligibility. If a player is on their third year of practice squad eligibility, they only have to be on the practice squad for one week in order for it to count as a year served. Each team is also allowed to carry up to four players on their practice squad who have two or less accrued seasons in the NFL. In other words, every player drafted or signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and 2018 are still eligible to be on the practice squad, even if they played in every game in both seasons. But remember teams can only keep four of such players. Additionally, players who have accrued seasons but were active in nine or fewer games during the season do NOT count towards these four positions. Players such as Mason Rudolph and Marcus Allen would be examples of this rule, as they were both on the 53 man roster in all of 2018 but Rudolph was inactive every week and Allen was only active for one game.At the end of the preseason when every team goes from 90 players down to their 53 man roster, all players who have been released must clear waivers before signing to a practice squad. Remember a team putting in a waiver claim is strictly to add the player to their 53 man roster. Any “vested veteran” who would be released during team cut downs where they do not have to clear waivers would not be eligible for the practice squad due to their years of service. The only scenario where a practice squad player would not have to clear waivers after cut downs would be if they were not even on a 90 man roster and therefore not released. A phrase commonly used at the end of the preseason is for a team to “sneak” a player on to the practice squad. This process is simply referring to having the player clear waivers and not be signed by a different team. In 2015, Coach Rex Ryan tried to sneak Ross Cockrell on to the Buffalo Bills practice squad while he was dealing with a minor injury. Instead, the Steelers claimed Cockrell and signed him to their 53 man roster.Once players clear waivers James Conner Jersey White , they are free to sign with any NFL team either on their active roster or practice squad. Once a player is signed to the practice squad, they cannot be “poached” to another teams practice squad. The only way a practice squad player can sign with another club is if they have been released, or if they are being added to the active 53 man roster. If a team signs a player from a different team’s practice squad, they are required to pay the player for at least three weeks of active roster pay even if they choose to cut the player sooner. Additionally, the player will continue to take up a spot on the 53 man roster while they are receiving their salary, so there is little incentive to cut the player before the designated three weeks. There is also a provision with adding a player from an upcoming opponent’s practice squad. A team can only sign a player from another team’s practice squad if it is more than six days in advance of when the teams play, or 10 days in advance if the teams are meeting after their bye week. When a practice squad player is elevated to their teams 53 man roster, if they are then released at a later time they must once again clear waivers before re-joining any practice squad. Whether the player is staying with the same franchise when they are activated or if they are signed by a different team, they still must clear waivers if released. This is not a rule strictly for practice squad players, as any player who is not a vested veteran must clear waivers if they are cut by a team. When it comes to pay, there is a significant difference between practice squad players and active players. The minimum a practice squad player can be paid was $7,600 a week in 2018 and will be $8,000 a week in 2019. While these are minimum amounts Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , there is nothing (aside from the salary cap) keeping a team from paying a player more while on the practice squad. For example, Howard Jones was on the Steelers practice squad in 2014 and the following season he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because they gave him the league minimum salary for active players even though he was on the practice squad.A season in which a player is only on the practice squad does not count as an accrued NFL season. For example, B.J. Finney spent all of 2015 on the Steelers practice squad before making the 53 man roster in 2016. he has three accrued seasons. When it comes to traveling with the team or being on the sidelines during games, the practice squad is much like a player on injured reserve. It is solely at the discretion of the team as to how they handle these players for game days. I think this covers everything about the practice squad. If there was anything I missed, please add the details in the comment section. Longtime NFL backup quarterback Landry Jones may play his next game in the XFL.The XFL announced today that Jones will be one of the participants in its “summer showcase” workout tomorrow. As PFT previously explained, the XFL is doing Combine-style workouts in each of its eight cities to try to identify the best available players.Jones’s workout is in Dallas, and although that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll play for the Dallas XFL team, it seems highly likely that he will, given that he previously played for Bob Stoops at Oklahoma, and Stoops is now the coach of the Dallas XFL franchise. The 30-year-old Jones spent five seasons as Ben Roethlisberger‘s backup with the Steelers before being released last September. He spent less than a month with the Jaguars during the 2018 season, but did not play. He then spent two months with the Raiders this offseason. After the Raiders cut him he may have concluded that his best chance of earning a living playing football in the year ahead is to do it in the XFL.
If NFL Media’s report that Raiders receiver Antonio Brown threatened to punch Raiders G.M. Mike Mayock in the face is accurate Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , Brown may have a problem separate and apart from his potential team-issued suspension.Brown could be facing discipline under the league’s Personal Conduct Policy. The Personal Conduct Policy expressly prohibits, among other things, “[v]iolent or threatening behavior toward another employee or a third party in any workplace.” Brown’s alleged conduct presumably would fall within the boundaries of that specific portion of the rule. The broader question becomes whether the precise wording of Brown’s suspension from the team, if he’s suspended at all, covers the threatened punch. If he isn’t suspended for threatening Mayock but for something else — of it the team doesn’t suspend Brown at all — the league still can.Given that the league is likely still miffed at the turmoil caused by Brown’s multiple helmet grievances, the league possibly won’t be inclined to show him lenience on this one. Regardless of how it plays out Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , it’s another angle to watch as this latest chapter in unfolds. You guys see us run gassers afterward, he beats everybody,” said head coach Jon Gruden.“His pursuit to the football has been incredible. He’s got a ways to go yet as a pass rusher, developing an inventory of moves and recognizing plays and situations, but nobody works harder. He might lead the league in effort.”So far the reviews on Crosby have been great.A tweet surfaced on Monday of ‘Mad Maxx’ flashing some of the pass rush moves that are in his arsenal. He easily beats second year tackle Brandon Parker on the play. One of the great things for Maxx Crosby is that he gets to do battle everyday in practice with Trent Brown.Brown a veteran offensive tackle has faced the best pass rushers the league has to offer.“Maxx is good,” Raiders right tackle Trent Brown said of Crosby.“Maxx is good as hell honestly. He can rush the passer https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-brown-jersey , he can defend the run.He has a high motor. He is going to be someone to watch out for.”It’s still early but it sounds like the Raiders might have found a diamond in the rough. The Raiders pass rush was the team’s biggest weakness last season.Rookies Clelin Ferrell and Maxx Crosby along with the development of second year players PJ Hall, Maurice Hurst, and Arden Key should provide the defense with a much needed boost in the sacks department.Follow @Egroat5
Emmanuel Sanders started his Wednesday on the practice field. He ended it on injured reserve.Sanders tore his Achilles early in practice. The Broncos have placed the receiver on injured reserve Von Miller Jersey White , Mike Klis of Denver’s 9News reports. Denver needed the roster spot after claiming receiver Andre Holmes off waivers from the Bills.Sanders, 31, played all 12 games this season, making 71 catches for 868 yards and four touchdowns.鈥淚t鈥檚 like I鈥檝e said before: You don鈥檛 really replace guys,” Broncos quarterback Case Keenum told reporters Wednesday after Sanders’ injury. “Emmanuel, obviously one of the best guys I鈥檝e ever worked with. Good morning, Broncos Country! There are two big questions when you talk about the Denver Broncos. What makes the discussion more fun (or maddening), is the two are connected. What John Elway and the Broncos decide for the first question will have a direct result on the second. The first is, who will become the 17th head coach in franchise history? The second is, what should Denver do at quarterback? On the latest MHR Radio Podcast, Adam Malnati and I were joined by Ryan Edwards and Andrew Mason from First & 10 @ 10 on Orange & Blue 760. We obviously talked about the plan of attack for the head coach, but also who they think will be the quarterback for the Broncos in 2019. Their answer isn’t a surprise since it’s what most think — Case Keenum. But as Mase said on the podcast, who Denver chooses as the head coach may influence who the quarterback is next season. It’s a fun podcast with a lot of great stuff. Of course, we had to talk about their cohost and Broncos legend Steve Atwater moving one step closer to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Wentz tossed two touchdown passes Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , Darren Sproles ran for a score and the Philadelphia Eagles stayed in the hunt for the NFC East title with a 28-13 victory over the depleted Washington Redskins on Monday night. The Eagles (6-6) won consecutive games for the first time since Nick Foles led them to a Super Bowl victory over the Patriots.Article continues below ...The Redskins (6-6) lost backup quarterback Colt McCoy to a serious right leg injury in his second game replacing Alex Smith, who broke his right tibia and fibula on Nov. 18. Mark Sanchez took his place.Redskins coach Jay Gruden said after the game that, from what he understands, McCoy fractured his fibula and will miss the rest of the season.Adrian Peterson ran 90 yards for a touchdown on Sanchez’s first play under center, giving the Redskins a 10-7 lead. It was the longest run Philadelphia has allowed in franchise history but Washington’s lead didn’t last long.Wentz, who hasn’t scrambled much since returning in Week 3 from surgery to repair two knee ligaments, didn’t run for any yards. But he ran around and made big plays when he improvised and on designed rollouts.“Anytime he can extend plays with his legs, he’s such a great athlete, that’s an advantage to the offense,” coach Doug Pederson said. “Being able to do that allows us to stay on the field. He’s gifted in doing that. It comes natural to him.”Sproles put Philadelphia up 14-10 on a 14-yard TD run in the second quarter. Wentz tossed a 4-yard TD pass to Jordan Matthews and connected with Golden Tate on a 2-point conversion to extend the lead to 22-13 early in the fourth quarter. The Eagles twice failed to score inside the red zone and still managed their second-highest point total this season. They had a first down at the Redskins 2 in the second quarter, but Josh Adams was stopped for a loss on fourth down from the 1.They had a first down at the Redskins 5 in the third quarter, but Wentz threw an interception right to Josh Norman.Wentz finished 27 of 39 for 306 yards. He came out firing and led the Eagles to a score on their opening drive for only the third time season.First, he scrambled out of the pocket, motioned Tate to go deep and lofted a 19-yard pass down the left sideline on a first-and-15. Wentz finished the drive by firing a 6-yard TD pass on the run to Tate.“Play-action, bootlegs, nakeds, getting me on the edge, gives me a chance to make plays and we used that effectively,” Wentz said.Dustin Hopkins kicked field goals of 47 and 44 yards for Washington.“We have to get a plan ready for Mark moving forward,” Gruden said. “We’ve got to play great football around him, which we didn’t do tonight.”SANCHIZE TIMESanchez Dwayne Haskins Jersey , a former first-round pick who led the New York Jets to consecutive AFC championship games in his first two seasons, is now a starter for the first time since he played for the Eagles in 2015.“I’m grateful for the opportunity. I was praying for the opportunity,” he said, adding his “heart definitely breaks for” McCoy and Smith.WELCOME BACKSproles scored his first TD since Dec. 22, 2016. Sproles only played three games last season before he tore a knee ligament and broke his forearm on the same play. He was sidelined since Week 1 this year because of a hamstring injury.“I’m really happy for him,” center Jason Kelce said. “I don’t usually know who is back there but when I saw it was him and he got in the end zone, I had a big sense of joy. He’s a phenomenal guy.”RECORD SETTERZach Ertz broke Brian Westbrook’s franchise record for receptions in a season. Ertz has 93 catches and is closing in on Jason Witten’s single-season record (110) for tight ends. They had great time of possession and some great drives, but we were able to keep them out of the end zone,” coach Jay Gruden said. “You’ve got to keep playing until the drives are over, and good things will happen. We did that.”Alex Smith threw for 178 yards and one touchdown, while Dustin Hopkins kicked three field goals for the Redskins (6-3), who improved their turnover differential to plus-11 and rebounded from a 38-14 loss to Atlanta despite playing with a makeshift offensive line because of mounting injuries.“I promise you this: If we were even or minus-11, we wouldn’t be 6-3 Wes Martin Jersey ,” Gruden said. “It’s been the difference so far. It’s why we are where we are.”Smith, who was 19 of 27 with no interceptions, threw 6 yards to Josh Doctson for the game’s only touchdown early in the fourth quarter.Hopkins kicked field goals of 43, 43 and 26 yards, the last set up by Greg Stroman’s fourth-quarter interception and 24-yard return to the Bucs 14.“You can (give up) 1,000 yards, but if you get the ‘W,’ three points, it really doesn’t matter,” Washington cornerback Josh Norman said. “It goes down in the stat sheet, but the only stat that matters is the ‘W.’ “Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 406 yards for Tampa Bay (3-6), but was intercepted twice and lost a fumble on a sack inside the Washington 10.The Bucs, who have the NFL’s top passing attack and are second in total offense, fell to 1-3 in games they’ve gained 500-plus yards this season.Just as discouraging for coach Dirk Koetter and his players: Tampa Bay, which has lost three in a row and six of seven following a 2-0 start, failed to force a turnover on defense for the sixth straight game.“”Four-zero in turnover margin is going to kill you every time,” Koetter said. “We had a lot of chances. … We weren’t good enough today, and that’s plain to see.”Meanwhile, three of their four giveaways thwarted scoring opportunities, including Jacquizz Rodgers‘ fumble on a reception that rolled 18 yards into the Washington end zone, where it was recovered by safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix for a touchback. The Redskins were outgained 279 yards to 136 in the first two quarters Womens Bryce Love Jersey , yet led 6-3 at halftime after getting two field goals from Hopkins. The Bucs moved into Redskins’ territory on all five of their first-half possessions, but had little to show after Norman made a leaping interception on the goal line of a pass intended for Chris Godwin, and Chandler Catanzaro missed a 30-yard field goal.Catanzaro, who’s missed four field goals and four extra points through nine games, also had a 47-yarder sail wide right early in the second half.“I feel bad for my teammates. I’m just not performing well enough right now for this team,” said Catanzaro, whose 33-yarder in the second quarter accounted for all of Tampa Bay scoring. “Right now they’re not going through (the uprights). I’ve done my best to fix it up until now and it hasn’t been fixed.”BIG NUMBERSFitzpatrick completed 29 of 41 passes and topped 400 yards passing for the fourth time this season. Washington rushed for 116 yards, with Adrian Peterson helping run out the clock and finishing with 68 yards rushing on 19 carries.Smith was sacked three times, but thought the group performed well under the circumstances.“It wasn’t like there was a ton that was off-limits, and I think that’s a credit to those guys and how they were playing,” Smith said.“Certainly you wanted to get them into the flow of the game and that took a little bit,” the quarterback added. “But I thought in the second half, we were able to get into that rhythm and we were able to execute.”UP NEXTRedskins: Home vs. Houston next Sunday.Buccaneers: at New York Giants next Sunday.
With the majority of the league’s business done for 2018 James Conner Jersey White , the NFLPA officially confirmed the amount of unused salary cap space each team has elected to carry over into next seasonon Thursday, with the Pittsburgh Steelers set to rollover more cap space than ever before in 2019. every team has opted to carry over 100 percent of the cap space available to them and the full amount the Steelers will actually rollover is $18,248,921, as per the NFLPA public salary cap report. The bulk of this money comes courtesy of Le’Veon Bell after he opted to sit out the entire season, a decision that put $14.544 million back into the account that Pittsburgh will now be able to use next year. However, without this money from Bell Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , the Steelers would have been facing a difficult offseason in 2019. Now projected to be around $20.5 million under the cap when this carry over is included, Pittsburgh would have had less than $3 million in salary cap space to work if Bell had not held out all year. Only five teams will rollover more money than the Steelers, with the Cleveland Browns set to carry over a ridiculous $56.5 million. But looking at projected salary cap figures for 2019, only 10 teams will have less cap space at their disposal than Pittsburgh when the new league year begins. The Baltimore Ravens are projected to have around $28 million to work with, while the Cincinnati Bengals should have just under 51.8 million. The Brown are projected to be third in the league with over $82.4 million. The Indianapolis Colts lead the NFL with an absurd $110.8 million and the New York Jets are second with $93.8 million. And heading into the final year of his contract, there is a growing number of Pittsburgh Steelers fans who like to see the team consider a different option in the future.Once a consensus top five coach in the eyes of most media experts, even as recently as last year, it would appear that Tomlin’s reputation has been tarnished so much this year that he has taken a dive in the offseason rankings. As per the latest offering from Jared Dubin of CBS Sports, the Steelers coach is now barely managing to scrape into the top 10.With the second-best winning percentage among active coaches, some might suggest that ranking Tomlin 10th on the list is absurdly low, while others will point to his lack of playoff success over recent seasons. However, even the most ardent Tomlin haters must surely consider placing him behind names like Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills (9) and John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens (8) is rather ridiculous. Even if considering only the recent history of the past five seasons James Conner Jersey , Tomlin has far exceed the achievements of Harbaugh.Baltimore have record only two double digit win seasons in each of the last five years compared to four for the Steelers, Tomlin has three divisions titles to Harbaugh’s one in that time frame and has won two more playoff games. Neither coach has been outstanding, but to suggest Tomlin has been worse is laughable. It will come as no surprise to learn that Bill Belichick earns the top spot, while Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs comes in at No.2 and Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints comes in at No.3. While I have no issue with one and three, ranking Reid that high given his postseason record is a hard one to swallow.

So, the thought of allowing a camera crew for a TV show into the building to monitor a team’s every move is downright terrifying for some. Paul Guenther is not one of those people.“I really don’t think [so],” Guenther said about the possibility of the Hard Knocks crew being a distraction. “They do a really good job of staying out of your way. You can see, kind of, what’s going to be on the show. I think the positive thing is you find out a lot about your team and the coaches on the staff that, ‘Hey, when the camera is on you are you going to be a different guy or a different player or if you’re not.’ Because really after the third day, you don’t notice, you’re so used to having them around that you just go about your business. I don’t really pay attention to where the cameras are in the building. You just go about and coach the guys how you know how to coach them and that’s all you know how to do.”Guenther has twice before been on a coaching staff that had to deal with the Hard Knocks crew in house with their prying cameras, boom mics, and editing tools which, if they choose to, can make spin just about any narrative they like. In a world where the term “distraction” gets tossed around as an all too familiar copout, this time it could be real. Or it might not be. Regardless of Guenther’s thoughts on the matter Antonio Brown Jersey White , it’s hard to say, really, how much of a difference it will make having the team featured on the show. Every team is different and there are varying factors as to why a team might regress or improve from season to season. What we do have is precedence. Hard Knocks has been around for a while. This is their 14th season, so there is a large sample size from which to get an idea of how team typically perform the season they are featured on the show. It helps to compare it to how they performed the season before. The two times the Bengals appeared on the show, they improved by a net 7 games and made the playoffs both times. But their results aren’t typical. Only one other team (Jets) both improved their record from the year before and made the playoffs the season they were on the show.In total, four teams made the playoffs the season they were on Hard Knocks. Six teams improved their records, Five teams regressed and two teams’ records stayed the same. Obviously, the Browns going winless in 2017 kind of messes up the overall differential numbers. We also have the Super Bowl champion Ravens needing to repeat to improve, which is a tall order. Eliminate those two outliers and you have a net differential of -4.The Raiders went 4-12 last season, so there isn’t much farther to fall should Hard Knocks have any kind of adverse affect. Of the six teams who had losing records the season before, only one regressed (2016 Rams). One (2002 Cowboys) had the same record, and the other four improved. So, what does this prove? It proves that there is no clear evidence that Hard Knocks is a detriment to the teams it covers. The average wins are close to .
ENGLEWOOD Womens Noah Fant Jersey , Colo. (AP) — When the Denver Broncos signed Case Keenum to a two-year, $36 million deal last spring, they figured they were getting the quarterback who had led the Vikings to within one step of the Super Bowl.Instead, they’ve gotten the journeyman he was with the Texans and Rams.or the league lead and are one more than he threw in 15 games last year. He’s been especially turnover-prone in the red zone and he’s the only quarterback in the NFL who has thrown an interception in all six of his team’s games so far.Keenum’s 15 sacks put him on pace for 40, nearly double what he had last season or in 2016 when he served as Jared Goff’s tutor in Los Angeles.Last week, Broncos general manager John Elway gave Keenum a vote of confidence, saying on Orange & Blue 760, “I think that Case has done a nice job. It’s always an adjustment getting used to a new offense and a new coaching staff and what he’s used to. He’s provided leadership, he’s provided that grit.”Then, Elway hit the scouting trail, flying to Eugene, Oregon, with top personnel assistant Matt Russell to check out Ducks QB Justin Herbert, who is expected to be the top quarterback in the 2019 NFL draft if he leaves school after this season.Keenum acknowledged Tuesday that his adjustment has been a rocky one.“It’s tough,” Keenum said. “You look at guys that have been in offenses for two, three, four, 10 years. The guy who played last night (Packers star Aaron Rodgers) has been in that offense a while and you start to know it like the back of your hand. You have just seen so many different plays and so many defenses you know what tends to get open.”On the other hand, this is his “first time throwing with these guys,” said Keenum, quickly adding, “These are definitely not excuses. I’m not sitting here making excuses, but I think we’re getting better. That’s the goal, and it takes time.”The Broncos (2-4) have lost four straight heading into their game Thursday night at Arizona (1-5).They hung tough in two of those losses, both at home, against two of the league’s top teams. They lost 27-23 to the Chiefs (5-1) in a game in which Keenum missed a wide open Demaryius Thomas for the potential game-winning score in the closing seconds, and the Rams beat them 23-20 Sunday thanks to penalties and an interception that cost the Broncos at least 10 points, including one on Emmanuel Sanders for taunting after what he mistakenly thought was a 44-yard touchdown.Last week, offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave bunched his receivers closer to struggling left tackle Garett Bolles at times and used more two-back sets. Still, he didn’t call many more runs for rookie running backs Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman, who have combined for four TD runs and a 5.19-yard average per carry despite the imbalance in play calls. The Broncos rushed just 17 times and threw 41 passes against L.A. During their skid, they’ve run 80 times and thrown 159 passes.“When you’re playing (from) behind, you’re trying to stick to your game plan and keep running the ball here and there,” Keenum said. “But especially with the later it gets, you need to make explosive plays. That gives the defense, especially the defensive line, a chance to tee off. …“It’s tough. But we put ourselves in that position early and we’ve got to make sure we don’t do that again this week.”Bolles, the team’s first-round draft pick in 2017 Womens Bradley Chubb Jersey , continues to struggle — he leads the league with six holding calls a year after committing an NFL-high 10. And losing left guard Ronald Leary to a torn Achilles on Sunday means Max Garcia returns to the spot he occupied next to Bolles much of last season.Bolles said Leary’s injury was “a tough one for me. It made me super emotional, but I have to move on. I have to help Max as much as he helps me and we have to get the job done.”Coach Vance Joseph said Sam Jones, a rookie from Arizona State, will be the backup guard against the Cardinals.“I trust the offensive line no matter who’s in there,” Keenum said.Notes: S Su’a Cravens (knee surgery) and WR-KR Jordan Taylor (double hip surgery) both practiced for the first time this season. “It was good to see Jordan back out there and also Su’a, but it’s a jog-through today,” Joseph said. “We’ll go fast tomorrow, as far as the 7-on-7 red zone and the team red zone, so we’ll see how they feel.” ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Bill Bowlen, the brother of Denver Broncos principal owner Pat Bowlen, is asking a Colorado District Court to remove the three members of a trust that is running the franchise with Pat Bowlen battling Alzheimer’s.Pat Bowlen, who has been nominated as a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, bought the team in 1984. He transferred control of the team to the Pat Bowlen Trust in 2014. The trust is run by team president Joe Ellis, Broncos general counsel Rich Slivka and attorney Mary Kelly.Bill Bowlen cited conflicts of interest and argued the trustees have failed to uphold his brother’s wishes and act in the best interests of Pat Bowlen, his family and the NFL franchise, according to the petition filed with the Arapahoe County District Court on Thursday.Bill Bowlen asked the court to appoint an independent party to serve as conservator of Pat Bowlen’s estate with the power to remove the trustees because Pat Bowlen, 74, is incapable of revoking the powers of attorney and the authority held by the trustees.“We have not seen this lawsuit and first learned of it through a media report tonight,” Dan Reilly, legal counsel for the Pat Bowlen Trust, said in a statement Thursday night. “Although we are currently reviewing this matter, we are aware that the counsel submitting this complaint on behalf of Bill Bowlen is the same one that has been representing Beth Bowlen Wallace.“The trustees will continue to execute Pat Bowlen’s long-standing succession plan for the Denver Broncos in compliance with all NFL ownership policies,” Reilly added. When Beth Bowlen Wallace announced in May her desire to take over as principal owner of the team, the Pat Bowlen Trust issued a statement saying she was “not capable or qualified at this time.”The lawsuit was filed five days after another of the Bowlen’s seven children, 28-year-old Brittany Bowlen, announced her intention to one day succeed her father as principal owner of the Broncos.Brittany Bowlen received her master’s degree in business administration from Duke in May after graduating from Notre Dame with a degree in finance, working for two years at NFL headquarters and a year with the Broncos as a business analyst.Terms of the trust require five years’ experience with the league or team. Brittany Bowlen, who began a job with McKinsey & Company at the global consulting firm’s downtown Denver branch, said she doesn’t have a timetable to rejoin the Broncos for more front office experience.Brittany Bowlen said she couldn’t speak to her sister Beth’s similar interest in running the club, saying only that the trust allows any of the Bowlen children to pursue principal ownership and that she supports her siblings.According to the petition filed by Bill Bowlen, Pat Bowlen owns about 76 percent of the club and his brother, John Bowlen, owns the remaining 24 percent. Bill Bowlen owned a stake in the team for 18 years and sold his interest to Pat Bowlen in 2002.The club is valued at more than $2.5 billion.Pat Bowlen’s wife, Annabel Bowlen, recently announced her own Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
